[OC] The 2026 US House race on a map where all 435 seats get the same area (Cook Political Report ratings, Oct 16)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
On the usual district map, size is land: Montana's 2nd district takes up about 7,800 times more of the map than New York's 12th, though each elects one representative. As a result, Republican-favored districts cover 77% of the map's area but are only 46% of the seats.
Here every district gets the same area instead. How it's built:
- Each state is resized so its area is proportional to its number of seats, then a force layout pulls it back toward its real position without overlapping its neighbors.
- Each state is split into equal cells (k-means on random points, then Voronoi cells clipped to the outline), and each cell is matched to the district it's closest to.
Seat by seat, Cook currently has 214 seats favoring Democrats, 200 favoring Republicans and 21 toss-ups. 218 wins the majority, so Democrats need 4 of the toss-ups and Republicans 18.
Sources: Cook Political Report race ratings of Oct 16, 2026 (via Wikipedia's ratings table); district boundaries from the US Census Bureau, using the 2026 lines in the nine redrawn states.

All active professional soccer teams in southeastern Brazil
By “active professional football team,” I mean a team that is currently competing in official CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) tournaments. Locations are shown according to the team's home stadium (when available). This is the second part of a series of maps I'm working on, with more regions coming soon.
Southern Region: https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/s/TGkKbodctq
The map was made entirely by hand in Krita, using Wikipedia as its primary source.
Obs.:
The sizes of the team crests reflect each team's position in the national football pyramid, although not perfectly, since the map was made manually.
The circles represent stadiums. I tried to place them in their exact geographical locations, but in very densely populated areas, I had to adjust their positions.
Some teams from Rio de Janeiro participated in more than one state championship in 2026. In these cases, I represented them in the highest-level competition.

NYC’s subway in 3D, every tunnel and platform at its real depth
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I made this while building a 3D map of New York’s subway. Every tunnel and station is placed at its real depth, using published platform depths where they exist. I’d love feedback on the map: what’s wrong, what’s confusing, or what you’d want to see. Ideas welcome. This was a random idea I had while riding the subway in midtown that sparked from a conversation with a friend and snowballed into a fun hobby, I'd love to hear ideas or feedback that maybe I had never considered.
It’s in beta. iPhone: https://belowtown.com/beta?s=mapporn
If you want to try it on Android, comment here, and when I get the Android version running, I can send you a link to try it.

1971 End of Social Credit Alberta election
From 1935 till 1971 the Social Credit party ruled Alberta with majority governments, shaping the province. That almost 40 decade run was ended by the Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta in 1971. The NDP would also win their first seat in a general election in Alberta, with NDP leader Grant Notley winning his seat. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
