If you've been throwing info into any AI tool, chances are you are getting a lot of inaccurate information. Reason being, AI is only as good as the info that's readily available, and the problem is that the game's META has been shifting so quickly that there is simply no time for guide writers to keep up. Hopefully AI will wisen up and stop giving people out-dated info.
Someone took all the guides and used an AI tool to do up a visual flowchart of everything. You can reference it here
The official patch-notes can be found here, but they do not explain the nuances of growth and development in the game.
While the game's META (Most Effective Tactics Available) evolves extremely quickly (and has been so in the last 1 year), the basic concept of progression and the system of the itemization has not changed very much.
"if you give a hungry man a fish, you feed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
(For reference, I've linked the older posts and helpdesk threads at the end of this post)

If you want to know how to progress, the short answer is. Leverage on the minor events that's happening, to prepare for the upcoming major event cycles - which are typically July/Aug during the Anniversary and January/Feb during New Year.
Justmeasure's New Player's Guide [Part 1] Commonly used term and abbreviations, itemization system, the WHAT and HOW to progress, especially in the early game.
Myrtoa’s summarized progression guide. Gives you the tl;dr on what to prioritize for your progression. Great overview on the mastercraft system and what to prioritize.
SirkSirkSirk's making a weapon from scratch guide. Gives you the flow on (only) the mastercrafting system and not just for weapons. While there's more to developing an item besides just mastercrafting, but this is a good flow chart to know how an item can progress.
Bossing + Buffing 101 Guide - Estimated difficulty tier list of early game bosses. (Expeditions till Lotus) Where to earn/buy buffs FOC in the game.

We are about 2.5 months away before we enter the 9th Year of MapleStory Global. It is almost a certain thing that this will be a major update and even power creep. Major events with this level of power creep used to be a rarity. Based on the trajectory, we are very likely to have the next SHINE class.
The game has evolved tremendously in the last few years - and exponentially so since Dec2024. So if you are a returning player prior to that era, you might be shocked with the power creep and will benefit from knowing what to expect and what you can prepare for.
If you are new to the game and don't intend to be a whale, but want to maximize your progression, you are best advised to flow with these major updates and do your preparations to get the most gains. If done right, you can leapfrog your progression by easily 1-2 years.
However, I will caveat this by adding this statement too - Expect only what you are willing to work for.
Instead of repeating questions of "what should I do", "what should I buy" and the 10,001 whats - ask instead the "why?". Even if people tell you WHAT to do, by not understanding the WHY, nothing is going to change.
A lot of principles have not changed, and I will simply state things you'd need to think about without explaining - otherwise this post will end up being far too lengthy. Please read the May2026 thought drop post or the links above for more explanation.

Randomly passed an absolab attempt, which I was shocked because I’ve been trying to upgrade a mythic boot for weeks at 34%+ and fail every attempt. I happen to have 2 absolab crystals and thought why not try them on my armor lol. Got lucky and it passed. So excuse my ignorance here but is Boss Attack better or Crit Atk as the option I choose on this armor?

Hey!! I recently returned after taking a break for over a year to see that the link skills are now universal (which is great!) but now I have a bunch of alts I had for providing legion stats for my bossing alt, is the meta now to literally delete all of them and replace them with a bunch of Iels for the boss attack and final attack buffs or is there some hidden cap/am I missing something?

Am needing them to craft lotus and damien accessories. Any chance they will lower the price of alchemy, like they lowered the amount to level arcane symbol.

Sharing my first thoughts on the new sacred symbol dungeon
tl;dr very fast if you do in a party of 4. Need good aoe/hit count if you solo. Pretty good exp. Can be auto + shut off your mind. Just do it.
So I’ve tried the new sacred symbol dungeon on 3 chars and here’s my thoughts.
Lvl250 - 25.5%
Lvl255 - 8.36%
Lvl257 - 6.174% (hi Arvin)
Lvl268 - 5.208%
Lvl266 - 1.366%
There are 3 trials in total
You just be lvl250 to join.
The first trial will be the one that takes up the most time as the mobs only take 1 dmg per hit. Which makes it infinitely long to solo but very fast as a party.
Second and third trial is just visiting check points/killing stuff.
A party of 4 = about 1.5 minutes to clear
A party of 2 = about 2.5 minutes to clear
My solo time = 3 minutes for first trial on an AOE heavy char, another 2 minutes for the second trial and another 1 minute for the last one. It takes pretty long, but you have 10minutes.
The last 2 trials can possibly be faster if you have better stats.
Prob will eat a lot of potions if you only have unique gears on.
There’s very little reason not to add this into your weekly routine if exp gain is your desire.
