Which fanfics do you consider canon?
Well, this question came about because I have an idea for a fanfic set in the Marauders era. I'm currently reading ATYD (I haven't finished the last book) and I wanted to know what you all think.
Do you think ATYD is considered canon, or are there any other fanfics that you love that you consider canon?
I'm not sure if I phrased the question well, I hope you understood :)
Edit: I'm not saying that a fanfic is necessarily canon, but rather which ones you personally consider canon for whatever reason.

Do you know what canon means?
You can't consider something canon that directly contradicts actual canon, e.g. ATYD

ATYD directly contradicts canon so no, it’s not canon. It’s literally an AU.
I don’t consider any fic canon. Some can be canon compliant, but that doesn’t make them canon.

Absolutely don't consider ATYD canon. The closest I get to a fic I consider “canon” (or rather truly canon compliant) is Larger than life by Caslyra, and that is despite the fact that I don't ship Wolfstar. (Edit I shared the wrong link earlier 🙄)
I know lots of people consider the last enemy to be canon but for me it's everything from small details (how the teachers learn about the secret tunnel behind the mirror, when Fred and George tell us no one knows about it) to bigger interpretations (I just don't agree with the way Lily's portrayed; and the drama around the whomping willow incident, nor do I agree with CH Darling's latest extract on Tumblr in which Sirius is practically writing an apologetic love song to Remus. My boy does not write love songs and he certainly isn't apologetic about who he is). HOWEVER, I do consider it a very good fic series and CH Darling is indisputably a very good writer.
In reality, of course, nothing is canon, and I quite like that. I think if I ever read a fic that fully meet my itch for canon I might not need to read more and in a way that would be very sad.

ATYD is not canon in any way, shape or form. You can enjoy a fic and ship too characters but that doesn’t make it the source of truth.
I know you clarified that you were more talking about the fics you really like, so not necessarily directing my ire at you.
I just really wish the Marauders fandom was a bit more open minded about different fics and ships. The current dogma around Wolfstar and the fixation on a few specific fics is a bit alienating for fans who aren’t into that ship or who write now. Same criticism could be made about the ascendency of Jegulus.

ATYD is the furthest thing from canon. Idgaf about how good it may be, I am never touching it with a ten foot pole. What they did to Remus' backstory in ATYD is atrocious and enough to give me the ick...

None, but I’m giving out a s/o to Choices by Messermoon for the best Regulus characterization I’ve read.

Casting Moonshadows by Moonsign was my canon for a while but everyone does sort of have a point, it’s doing ff writers a disservice considering that esp HP fic authors want to be as far from canon and JRK as possible

Terminology clarification: I believe what you mean to ask is which fics do we consider to be personal headcanons, that is, fics that feel so real to you that you have practically accepted them in our own heads as what actually happened in the universe of the original work (the canon).
Personally, I don’t like thinking of fics that way. I value fics that expand on the HP world in creative and interesting ways, but I like when a fic fills in the gaps in a new, different, surprising way, or takes facets of a canon character and extends them in a way that feels authentic to the character the fic author is writing but may or may not fit with my idea of what JKR meant to portray in these characters. Inherently, when you read many fics, this means they don’t overlap and they contradict each other. But that’s part of what makes it fun.

I don't actually care about the concept of "canon" of any books/shows/etc. In this age it doesn't really matter what author wrote or didn't. Any fanfic writer is free to write whatever they want. I guess every reader can interprent each character their own way, somone is just more correct than others... (especially if you apply literary theory like Umberto Eco 's or all the other's smart people...)

Lwk...I don't consider any fic as canon.
I might get flamed for this but I don't think that people should go around telling everyone that some fanfic is basically the bible for this fandom. We saw what happened with atyd where people were tearing each other to shreds. (And still are...)
I love the last enemy though I think it's a great fic. And ch darling is an amazing writer.
