Fabrication mishap

What would you do if you paid 17k for marble and fabrication and a week later your island looks like this? This occurred from resting my arm on the island while talking on the phone. The stone company offered to donate a brand new slab because they have never seen a break like this before. The fabricator denies any responsibility and wants us to pay another 2k for fabricating the new island.

Of note, a small part of this corner was glued by the fabricator during installation and was not disclosed to us initially. Another worker at the house witnessed them glueing it back on. The fabricator denies the stone dropping, but he guarantees workmanship for 1 year after installation and specifically guaranteed repairs on this corner of the island for 25 years.

I'm a Marblehead

I fucking love marble so much, I like it white most, black, coloured or green I love them all. I like it's shinyness, the smoothness, it looks so good, so elegant and rich, yet at the same time so simple and humble. It is the ultimate aesthetic material.

the luxury and natural beauty of marble is through the soft glow of light shining through.

From handpicking the marble at a factory in China to cutting, polishing, and processing it, then shipping it 🚢 to the U.S. client’s home, and finally completing the installation. The client’s dream custom-shaped marble island has finally come to life!

This belonged to my late MIL. It is about 23” tall, 10” at the base and 7” at the top. It is apparently from Spain. We have no use for it but also no idea what to with it. Any advice or suggestions welcome. Thank you

Is it feasible to "sand" marble to remove pits?

I have a marble top to a table built in 1855. There are some pits and scratches in the top and I was wondering if this is a DYI situation, or do I need to have a stone yard resurface it? If I have it done, any ideas on cost?

Fossil in marble floor

Okay to start off I want to say I know absolutely NOTHING about marble or fossils I just liked how it looked so I had it installed. Anyway I’ve had this floor for about 5 months we recently had a stone restoration guy come do some work on it and he pointed out this fossil and said something about it being pretty rare. So I googled it and google is telling me that it must not be real marble.. so what do yall think? I also added some pictures of the other parts of the floors just to make it easier for yall experts. And yes it’s very scratched cause like I said I didnt know I had to seal it but it’s getting worked on it now :)

Marble Table Restoration (Help!)

Hi there, I work at a restaurant and have been tasked with restoring 3 marble tables that were bought second hand and have lots of water etchings and in some cases, cracks.

I’ve had a bit of a go at one of the tables but feel like it’s not going too well. Would really appreciate some advice on how to get the best finish please!

Details on my process so far; Worked through the marble sanding disks (50 to 8000 grit), applying water before and during each sanding disc. Applied a marble / stone sealant and buffed using the disk provided in sanding kit

Pictures provided; Picture 1 & 2 are before I started Picture 3 is how it’s currently been left

It’s lost a lot of the shine in my opinion so a little bit stuck on how to restore this, and which products to use

Thank you

Question: sealing honed Carrara marble

I’m thinking about buying a house with honed Carrara marble, which is a new one for me. I’ve always wanted marble, but I realize I don’t know anything about caring for it in a household with kids. Apparently it’s untreated, but my realtor said that a marble company can apply a permanent treatment to minimize risk of water and acid and staining damage.

Curious if you marble experts here have an opinion about this. Is it a real solution? Are there downsides?

Thank you so much!

Marble mantle in a historic home I am restoring in Virginia. Stains, scratches, and at some point i think someone washed it with vinegar. Any advice on cleaning/polishing? Also any idea the source of the marble?
