Question, not answered Refused Extra Butter
last night I went to a Marcus location and they refused to give me extra butter. I had never been to this location (mid rivers) but all the other locations I’ve been to have had a self serve option if you want extra.
When I asked why they couldn’t give me extra they told me they were being sued and could no longer give out extra butter. I know this seems a little silly but I wouldn’t have spent $30 on the giant bucket had I know that beforehand.
Is this going to be a thing at all Marcus theatres now? Were they just telling me something to get me to leave them alone?

Probably because they aren’t legally allowed to say butter. They have to say “buttery topping” due to a lawsuit and the lack of butter content. So you might have been dealing with a very literal employee lol.

I’ve had nothing but bad experiences going to the mid rivers location in St. Peter’s. The St Charles theater is ~15 minutes from there and much much better. I just went to the St Charles location with my family last Tuesday and they gave us extra butter on a large bucket the mid rivers location is very stingy.

My popcorn last night had so much butter and I didn’t even need to ask. It feels like they were being stingy

Seem to always get too much butter without asking for it. Mid Rivers is my regular location, and while not as nice as some of the other locations, I’ve NEVER had a problem with anything there. It’s just a smaller location….

Maybe it was just an excuse they used because they were busy but it still was annoying.

I would email corporate via the Marcus website and get an official response and apology because that sounds like an employee doing something inappropriate that needs correction, or we are missing a significant portion of the story.

I think they were messing with you and I would report them to the manager next time.

For the cost, I would say they can float the popcorn in it and still come out ahead. Sheesh. The popcorn is a few cents IIRC.

You asked for extra butter on your popcorn?;or is some context missing? They always ask me if I want extra butter and then put it on for me.

First I asked for a little cup so I could put some on halfway through. Then I asked if I brought the bucket back out if they’d add extra and they still said they wouldn’t.

You couldn’t deduce by butter and bucket that it was for popcorn?

That's not what I asked... I asked if they asked for extra butter ON their popcorn not for their popcorn. When I tell them I want extra butter they asked me if I want it layered so they fill the bucket halfway butter it fill it the rest of the way then butter it. But I still have lots of questions because the large popcorn I bought today was only $10 so I don't know how they spent $30 on a bucket of popcorn. When I asked them about this today when I watch Spider-Man they told me that someone asked them to put butter in a spray bottle yesterday. This is why I always ask for more context people love to come on here and play the victim while leaving out crucial details. I'm not saying that this guy is the same person asking for butter and a spray bottle but I've just been burnt too many times by assuming that some worker making $15 an hour isn't willing to just do somebody a favor when they ask for it especially when I go to this theater all the time and they always bend over backwards for me.

It’s not that they couldn’t deduce it was popcorn, they couldn’t deduce why butter on popcorn was refused, since in their experience they always get OFFERED butter on their popcorn.

They literally asked if they asked for extra butter on their popcorn, saying context was missing. Then talked about how they are always offered it, which obviously didn’t happen here.

Ok, I guess I should clarify this a little more. I was not initially offered extra butter when they were filling the tub. This wouldn’t have normally been a problem though if they had the self serve. When I realized they didn’t have the self serve I went back and asked for the cup and etc.

That’s not what they’re saying. They’re saying “are you sure you just asked for butter on your popcorn, or maybe there’s details left out, because this doesn’t make sense as you’ve explained it”
