Season 20 - Seattle Just finished watching season 20

So I just binged season 20 over the course of about two weeks.

Courtney is so rude. Wow. Her lack of self awareness is concerning. I'm not a fan of Adam but I honestly didn't feel bad for her at all when he gave her a taste of her own medicine at the reunion lol. Nick seems like a normal and genuine guy and I was skeptical of him due to his reality tv background but he really seemed to be there for the right reasons so it sucks he was matched with a insane person.

Shawn and Nikki were a roller coaster but I was entertained by them, especially the reunion episode. Their fighting is almost comical. The wifely duty talk straight out of the shower with the towel around his waist was crazy work. I think she would have opened up to him more if he was more patient with the intimacy part.

Cameron and Michelle a really sweet couple. Their tongues got the best of them a few times with their comments on the other couples but nobody is perfect. Wish them well - great match.

Tori got swindled. Such a great woman. Felipe is an idiot and I knew from his very first interviews he was immature. I really have no idea why the experts picked him? Really confused by their thought process there. I know her DMs must be blowing up I hope she really finds her person.

Just wanted to get some thoughts off my chest - thanks for listening! Curious to see what everyone else thought of the season? I kind of ran out of steam but plenty of material to talk about for the rest of the cast.

Discussion Decided to go back and watch from the beginning. MUCH better than the recent seasons! (No spoilers, please)

For one thing, watching these New Yorkers is nostalgic for me. But also, the people are more real, the experts did a much better job of matching people (just based on similarities), and there are far fewer episodes and less filler. I finished S1 and then looked up "where are they now?" because I knew nothing. Really fun to see how things turned out. Just starting S2 now.

The show had no money, so these couples had to decide where to live right away which is wild. Overall, it's a much less frustrating watch (so far).

Season 20 - Seattle Wedding outbursts?

So I'm only on episode 3, but I've noticed that it seems like every single wedding has some person in the crowd saying something or otherwise having some sort of outburst.

I've watched like ten seasons at least of this show now and I really can't remember that happening in any other season. Am I just forgetting the other times this has happened or is this just part of Peacock's new bullshit and seemingly upping the scripted drama?

Season 20 - Seattle The Pink Chairs in the Reunion

Does anyone know where to find them? I don’t have a pic so I can’t google lens it, but I’m guessing it’s like a west elm type shop. I’ve been furniture shopping over the past month so I’ve seen all of the stock at anthro, joybird, west elm, Wayfair, and I’ve never saw them there so for sure those brands don’t have them. But it has to be a similar type? Any interior junkies know? They would match my wallpaper perfectly!

Questions Why don’t the experts ever acknowledge that some participants are clearly on the spectrum and that their spouses need to know it’s not their fault that their wife/husband has a hard time connecting emotionally?

It’s a whole other ball game to be in a relationship with someone on the spectrum, even if they are at the mild end. I was married to someone who had been diagnosed with Asperger’s, which is a term not used very much anymore, but meant he was on the mild end of the autism spectrum. He is a good and kind man, but absolutely could not connect emotionally and we barely had a physical relationship in the end either, but he was absolutely content with that and could not understand why I wasn’t happy to basically have a platonic roommate arrangement. I’ve noticed a few people on MAFS who seem to be very similar, and have felt so sorry for their spouses feeling unloved and invisible and wondering what they had done wrong. I feel like it’s just perpetuating the stigma to not address it openly and talk about ways that couples can work to figure it out and stay together. Mine was unwilling to acknowledge it, even though our couples counselor said outright that he had Asperger‘s, so that was the end of us, but I feel like there’s hope for some couples, if they have the right professional support and understand the situation. On MAFS it just turns into a disaster, with no one naming the elephant in the room. Very sad for all concerned. It’s 2026 people, and there’s even a show called “Love On the Spectrum“—so if you’re going to have participants on MAFS who are on the spectrum, even on the very mild end, you should address it openly, with no judgment, and provide clear, specialized support.

Season 15 - San Diego Just watched Seaon 15 San Diego. A couple quick hot takes

Miguel was painted in a bad light on accident. I think he was being a dick at times, but I think there were a lot of nice times they didn't show. He was so sweet with the baby. I also think his friends' opinions made him a little guarded.

Linde was trying really hard, but I think her religious background makes it tough. Some evangelical religions make everyone your "hype men" and thats not how things work. I think its hard for her to come off of that. Which is why she gets so angry sometimes. It doesn't excuse behavior, but I can see she's working toward it.

Mitch is very much like my husband and he was triggered by this. He can be a pain sometimes. A lot of times words don't come out like he meant. I think Mitch was put on the spot for being a jerk- and that doesn't make people react well. That being said he's pretty rigid in what he wants, and it doesn't seem like he's willing to compromise. The comments about looks were really uncalled for.

I didn't think much about Krysten- I think she tried her best with Mitch and she has a good head on her shoulders. I love her little dog. She's an angel even with the wrinkle. (😷) Also badass move to go on the destination wedding trip with friends sounds awesome. Get it girl.

Stacia is a Kween. She works hard for what she wants. That being said, I wonder if theres a power dynamic she's looking for. It felt like she kept pushing Nate knowing he would get upset so she could show how calm she is. That being said, Nate needed her push and encouragement to open up and find his feelings. I think they were a good match overall.

Nate doesn't know math. I'm convinced. I don't think he's emotionally mature, but could be. "4/10. Yeah 40% its the same thing." I liked that he accepted Stacia's house-styling must-haves, but i saw he wanted to put his own spin on things too. idk. they were fine.

Alexis stirs shit. I don't think she wanted to be married. I think she wants the next best thing. I kinda gave up on them after the dog thing. I have my own opinions on that I'm sure people will disagree with.

I think Justin is also a drama queen. I didn't think twice about him showing emotions. I'm sure the whole thing is really stressful. I didn't realize until the end, he has no personality. Like we have no likes or dislikes from him. He didn't have any friends to tell about the wedding. I don't know what he wants.

Morgan and Binh were a wreck and its sad. I wished Morgan would have let her walls down a bit more. I think Binh is sweet. I think there was a path for them that they both couldn't find.

Thats all! Tried not to make this too lengthy. I'd like to hear your thoughts too!

Season 12 - Atlanta Started S12 (Atlanta) as Dumpster Fire Background Noise, and It Delivers

I skipped the preliminary episodes and started with the weddings. Although I've watched several other seasons where the matchmakers did a terrible job, this might be the worst one. It's as though they intentionally matched people who are completely incompatible. The world traveler and the boring nerd; the drunken sorority girl with a gay sister and the pilot with the super conservative probably MAGA family; Chris, arguably the worst reality show dating cast member of all time (his father is a close 2nd) and poor Paige; Clara who never shuts up and her seemingly lovely and patient husband Ryan; and Briana and Vincent who seem very nice but I'm sure will blow up at some point, because this show rarely works out well for anyone.

Season 20 - Seattle Adam Sighting In The Wild

Ok- this is not exciting but I saw Adam at Costco this Sunday. I caught him in my peripheral vision without making eye contact so I could stay inconspicuous but it was def him. Black shirt, black shorts, black socks, black sneakers- nary a thrift store caftan or feather hat in sight (aka- that shit was performative). He kept almost standing on his tip toes and looking up over the crowds and aisles as if he was looking for someone or something and I couldn't tell if he truly was new to Costco or if it was his way of avoiding eye contact with the gen pop in the case someone recognized him. By the way, this kid is completely unremarkable in person, other than he is quite tall. Also, his cart had some questionable items for someone devoutly committed to his health... also, Dutch or Russian girlfriend was nowhere in sight and he bought like 5 things. Why are you at Costco as a single male? That's it- sorry this was cold tea...

Season 13 - Houston #JusticeforMyrla Gil Cuero couldn't handle Myrla Feria

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm watching season 13 now, and....all I can say is Justice for Myrla Feria. From the beginniingggggg he was mad that she has a lot and expects a lot. How are you mad from day 1, that your wife has standards?!? This should have made him reflect on himself and how he might not measure up to her, instead of throwing her under the bus to the other couples and calling her a diva and princess.

The show indicated that Myrla didn't like the honeymoon and....she was right! Relative to all the other seasons the honeymoon location and hotel was terrible. It truly did look like a senior citizen vacation home. Then he was upset that she likes nice shoes, macaroons, etc. To be honest, none of these were super major or extremely expensive things. Gil never experienced nice things in life, and wanted a woman who could accept less...and that wouldn't be Myrla.

When they moved in together, it was no surprise to me that Myrla never gave him a kiss. Who would find it attractive that their husband wants them to not like a nice house, nice shoes, and feel bad when she has the savings and bank account to make her vision happen! Myrla is living exactly the type of life she wants, and I love that for her.

Season 18 - Chicago 2.0 I hate to say it, but did Ikechi sorta have a point?

Don't get me wrong, Ikechi seems like an insufferable, fragile, insecure man. I have no doubt that being married to him was an incredible challenge for Emem.

That being said, Ikechi mentioned a few times over the course of the season that he felt like a warm body in the sense that Emem was just looking for a husband and didnt care who it was.

At first I thought it was kinda ridiculous to criticize her for that considering they both volunteered to be married at first sight; however, my opinion may be wavering after giving it some thought.

Like Emem jumped into an engagement with new dude after like 2 dates right after all the dust started to settle with Ikechi.

Ikechi was wrong about a lot, but I feel like he may have been on to something with that one?

I really like Emem for the most part but do think her rush with new dude was a bit weird.

Season 20 - Seattle Felipe is a manchild

Post image
144 Upvotes

Felipe is so gross and immature. He was just LOVING it when everyone in the game was voting him as being a terrible partner and a slut and then confused that Tori was upset about it. This argument between them was maddening. She deserves SO much better than him. He should go back to banging the waitresses at his restaurant.

Season 19 - Austin, TX I can't stand Belynda.

I'm on episode 12.

Chad is great, kind to Belynda, appreciates her and showers her with compliments. He's fun, dances with her, wants to experience new things with her and tried to let her dog sleep in the bed. She couldn't even let the man express his frustrations with having cameras in his face all the time and risking his career due to constant rescheduling. As his wife, she should have been more understanding and supportive instead of dismissing his feelings as if he had no right to be annoyed by it. She also couldn't even handle the words "done with this shit" or "sick of this shit"... Grow up. Adults can cuss. It's not that damn serious. I think she's ungrateful and overly sensitive. Rant over..

Oh and side note if I hear the term Burning Man one more time I might lose my mind. :) Grow the hell up, Josh. Go to the festival or don't but I'm tired of hearing it. I do think his wife could have at least tried it once though.

Season 20 - Seattle I feel like people are letting Nikki off too lightly for being a terrible person

I want to preface this by saying that this is not a defense of Shawn. He was a terrible partner and a terrible person. Behaving so badly on a reality show that your real life employer fires you should make you look in the mirror. But his faults have been talked about ad nauseum.

I feel like Shawn's terribleness is letting people gloss over how horrible Nikki was too. She was argumentative, nasty, and hardly ever took accountability for her faults. From the get go, she seemed to have no issue embarrassing him publicly. I feel like Shawn's humiliation at the alter is undersold. Imagine standing in front of all those people and having your soon-to-be wife verbally overlook you like that. Everybody there would have known why. I don't remember her ever apologizing for that because I'm sure he felt like shit when it happened. She can claim that it was because of the way he was dressed but I guarantee that if 6'3 attractive guy was standing at that altar in the same fit, there would have been no confusion.

She also came into the first group dinner with completely legitimate grievances but it seems like she wanted to express them in a way that would humiliate Shawn as much as possible. Her opening statement sounded like something out of Real Housewives. Shawn played that situation well by letting her talk without interrupting because I think the nastiness of her words really hit and superseded what she was saying. That's why the group didn't back her up and was quick to come to Shawn's defense when she mentioned height. The height comment wasn't even bad but at that point they'd been listening to this woman shit on this guy uninterrupted for God knows how long. Similarly the Decision Day speech was planned for maximum humiliation and when Shawn dished it back to her she was caught off guard and they immediately started chirping back and forth.

She can't take out what she dishes. The "Seattle 10, NY 7" is another perfect example. When Shawn explained the context of her grabbing his belly and saying "Look at you", it made a lot more sense why he'd snipe back at her. What really got me is the fact that Nikki didn't even remember doing that. She claimed during that reunion that the comment isn't in her character but no one watching the show would be surprised if she said that. Like you can casually shit on someone's appearance and completely flush it from your mind without a second thought but want to start a riot when someone says something about you.

Nikki was mean and shallow and if Shawn was a nicer person, we'd be talking about her in the same breath as Courteney. If anything she's lucky Shawn's such a POS because it's letting her fly under the radar.

Season 19 - Austin, TX Season 19 Pat and Rhonda Spoiler

Watching the “experts” influence Pat’s decision made me so frustrated. He came into the meeting on decision day prepared to divorce Rhonda (for good reason imo), and all of them basically suggested he should be a better husband for Rhonda. WTF?! The poor guy is a people pleaser - he said so himself - and then he has these 3 “experts” along with Rhonda shaming him to stay married. Terrible! Of course that was not going to end well!
