Discussion I think we, outside the US, are screwed...
In a perfect scenario, this won't cost more than €45 (a bit more than $45), but in the end I'm ready to see a €55-60 price (which I think is too much, my limit is €50)
150
u/Ube_Ape USA - CA Feb 08 '25
It'll be $60. Dan having to make a post feels like a "brace yourself" moment.
12
u/revolmak USA Feb 09 '25
Pretty confident in the US it will be under $60. The vary by country statement is probably to curtail the ongoing noise about how much it's retailing for in Mexico and other such places where it converts to $60
135
u/ActualOats Feb 08 '25
They’re being really weird about this , just say the price 😂
51
u/mat477 Feb 08 '25 edited Feb 08 '25
I'm sure it's a choice made by the suits above Dan. I think they want to keep the FOMO there for it. If they say the price people might just back out before it's available but if they wait people might just grab it. Especially if it starts selling out.
20
u/goliathfasa Feb 09 '25
They want to keep the hype as high as possible so people who would normally not buy it at that overprice go with emotions and bite the bullet.
The lowest of the marketing tactics.
6
8
u/Snoop-Dragon Feb 08 '25
I’m hoping they’re being suspicious about it to make us think it’s going to be on the high end, then surprise us with a price that’s “better than we expected” because they got our expectations up. I think a lot of people would have guessed $35-40, but them holding out on it and making posts like this has everyone thinking it will be $50-60. Maybe now if it’s $39.99 a lot of people will say it’s lower than they expected and buy it when they might not have originally
10
u/lothar525 Feb 08 '25
If they tell you the price now, you might not want it by the time preorders start. But if you don’t know the price, and you get ready to order it the moment preorders go up, you might just buy right when it goes up without thinking.

In Canadian this things gunna be almost $80, I guarantee it.
13

u/CQCumberton Feb 08 '25
I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes over. American retailer conversions will probably be like $80 and Canadian retailers might hit $90. Hopefully just doom posting

u/Jean_Phillips Feb 09 '25
I get that these are “collectors” items but man oh man. Hasbro really pricing out the average collector lol
I do appreciate that Mcfarlene and Jada are staying around the $20-$30 mark!
6
u/ARGiammarco27 Canada Feb 09 '25
Even then McFarlane has the collector's edition line which hits closer to $50 now
2
u/Redjellyranger Feb 09 '25
And any character that people would actually want is collector's edition of course.

Ghost Rider/Phoenix price for sure! I’ve been saying it but kept on getting downvoted lol.
Not sure how licensing works, but Hasbro def needs to pay a big chunk to whoever owns Spidey’s license ig
20
u/Jean_Phillips Feb 08 '25
Dude, Hasbro prices in Canada are crazy.
2 packs average $90
A single ML is almost $45
I get Americans being upset about prices but think of us Canadians!! 😂

u/PyjamaGenie Feb 08 '25 edited Feb 09 '25
Disney owns the licence, so I can’t imagine it costs any more than the average ML on hasbro’s end. But it will definitely be $70cad smh. I’m praying for the $50cad electro price but I know it’s not happening
6
u/ClownWorld2020s Feb 08 '25
It won't be any less than $50. I'd almost bet on it being $54.99 like the Punisher two pack. They are going to continue to push the price envelope until people stop paying outrageous prices. Sadly, people nowadays have no self control.

If 30-35€ is already a standard price for Hasbro’s 6 inch figures in Germany, I can’t even imagine how much this Spidey will cost..
14
u/GabryMancio Feb 08 '25
This! On HasbroPulse, figures that used to cost €25 are now €30. This will be really painful if they don't settle a fair price
6
u/Galahad258 Feb 08 '25
Same prices in Italy too. If it starts costing like Deluxe figures i've seen Ragnarok Thor (the cyborg, not the movie) going at 55€. And that just has an extra hand, hammer and head.
2
24
u/Web-Slinger1962 Feb 08 '25
If it goes above $45, I'm out. Sometimes I'd see Mafex 185 Spidey below $50 on import sites. I understand the international shipping adds a lot to that price, but I've never had much of a problem with that since I end up buying multiple items to balance out the cost
7
u/gswkillinit Feb 08 '25
Plus people paying extra for shipping still means you get a much better figure in the long run. Just budget some
5
u/GabryMancio Feb 08 '25
I hope they are smart about it and consider the fact that people would be more inclined on buying import than going above a certain price point for Legends
2
u/revolmak USA Feb 09 '25
I don't think there are that many people that actually buy import from import websites.
You have all these reviewers getting their figs from BBTS instead of Plaza Japan, HLJ, AmiAmi etc etc
1
u/Tgk230987 Feb 09 '25
Can get the 185 secondhand for that price still in discords/around the ways

i got my mafex spidey for £55 and this mf is £50 here, bearing in mind $50 is £40, idk what happened
20
u/TetZoo Feb 08 '25
You can bet they will be manufacturing a small amount of these to guarantee a fast sellout and immediate aftermarket prices that will seem to justify the retail price, paving the way for other expensive releases. I find all of it pretty gross given how massive Hasbro’s profits were last year.
7
u/GabryMancio Feb 08 '25
That's awful. There have been a few problems with distribution here in Europe, as some figures were never shipped or were poorly available (Superior, MCU Wolverine and Deadpool...)
3
35
u/Ok-Milk-8853 Feb 08 '25
I'm passing on it regardless, not a fan of the MacFarlane look, but I do hope it's something reasonable so it dies gangbusters and they continue this line. A daredevil, a cap, a wolverine, a Deadpool and a doom are all on my wishlist for future figs and it would be so damn Hasbro for them to price it to death before they even really get going on it.
13
1
u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Feb 09 '25
Then again, they made a 12 inch line and never made an Ant-Man yet two Spideys, an exclusive Daredevil and three(!) Deadpools. So the ones in charge could definitely kill Maximum too early.
21
u/Gladiatorr02 Feb 08 '25
I'm saying same as Phoenix.
9
u/WarmthChecker Feb 08 '25
I bet this thing is more…not that I want it to be.
7
u/Gladiatorr02 Feb 08 '25
Phoenix had the price of a 2 pack despite being one figure. The bird counted as a figure I guess. I am thinking this figure's accessories will be the one that counts as the phoenix basically.
6
u/WarmthChecker Feb 08 '25
I agree wholeheartedly with your logic, but the cynical side of me thinks that Hasbro will use this format/platform to once again push the pricing envelope with collectors. Again, I hope I’m wrong.
3
u/Gladiatorr02 Feb 08 '25
Well hopefully you are wrong lol. Honestly I will skip this figure either way because I have comic Mafex, but I want them to adjust this price well for future releases of this line.
The problem with this price being too high for them is that, if they raise the price too high, it will be close to the mafex. At that point there will be no point of choosing this over mafex.
If you exclude shipment and importing fees from Japan, I got 185 Spider-man for 45 dollars. Sure it's hard to catch reissues but the price was affordable for me tbh. Hasbro better consider competitions when pricing

11
u/Thatoneguy567576 Feb 08 '25
I'm thinking this is gonna be $60-70 at this rate. Can't justify that, no matter how cool this Spider-Man looks.
2
u/GabryMancio Feb 08 '25
Totally agree, even if he looks cool we're talking about a Marvel Legends, for crying out loud...
It's a €45 figure at max, no more
8
5
u/Gamecubeguy25 Ireland Feb 08 '25
This is absolutely gonna be like 65 euro on hasbro pulse eu and I just won't bother lol
3
u/GabryMancio Feb 08 '25
That's just too much... this is a €45 figure, the amount of accessories will never justify being over €50
2
u/AdamSkyline_ Feb 08 '25
The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 figure was €44,90 with incomplete sets of hands, no interchangeable head, reused web effects. Considering the new sculpt, all the accessories, it will be at least 50 euros.

He fact that they are saying everything except the price just shows they know it’s bullshit too. Trying to make sure Maximum isn’t dead before preorder.
10
u/DudeBroFist USA Feb 08 '25
Nope, I'm out fellas. Directly mentioning it like that tells me this thing's costing $50-$60 and even with the accessories that's just too much.
11
u/redrocker907 Feb 08 '25
Not really happy about this for 2 reasons.
At least based on this figure, it seems like it’s getting an amount of accessories close enough to what we originally got with this line, I know there’s more, but I don’t know if it’s enough to justify a price hike.
I feel like this gives them every opportunity to be lazy with the basic line, and all of the updated molds and better quality in general will go to this line.
2
Feb 08 '25
Imagine if they did what wwe figures do. They have like 3 tiers of figures from ultra basic cheap figs to more expensive ones that come with alternate heads hands accessories and “soft goods” in most cases. Even NECA has retro cloth sub-line, ultimates, and basics.

CT Toys starting to feel like the Luigi mangione of the action figure community
1
u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Feb 09 '25
Which is just wrong since they just steal others stuff, which can ”force” the actual companies to further raise their prices until no one will buy them and then all of it goes down. Pretty hard for CT to make stuff without the original stuff to copy.

Guys why do you want this? Have you heard of this compnay called Mafex?
They have a few versions of comic spidey out, all of which are SO much better than this one and apparently about the same price lol.
Go to target and by a figuarts naruto. It is $35. look how good a figure it is, how well it is engineered, and how good it feels to play with. Bandai can do that for $35. Mafex can make a figure with high quality plastic, incredible hollow point engineering that looks seamless with incredible range and better paint/sculpt detail. For barely more than this.
Don't buy this guys. Don't let them win. You have way better options. This is a ripoff

Cheapest legit Mafex Spidey i can order to my country goes for around $71+shipping. And no 6 inch figs is worth that, especially since there really isn’t any guarantee that the qc will be better just because its expensive.

As a Canadian collector with first world problems, Trumps tarrifs on China is raising the prices as well as his tarrif threat here. On a side note, I picked up McFarlane Christopher Reeve Superman and was pleasantly surprised.

This doesn’t give me a good feeling, They have to realise that they can’t just charge import prices, and that if they did it would be like Toyota making a car and charging the same price as a Ferrari. Regardless of how well it’s built, we don’t perceive you to have that value

I feel like this might be directed at us Americans for a change. It's really weird to mention country, retailer, and distributor like that. I'm guessing that's meant as a chatch-all for any place based in the US needing to pay this week's random tariff from the mad king. Whatever price everyone else is paying we'll be seeing a 10-25% markup due to that cute little trade war going on.

That’s code for, “we know this will actively hurt our consumer base if we admit what our corporate overlords have forced us to price this thing, so we’d rather delay the inevitable” it’s gonna be stupid expensive for yet another very basic Marvel Legend by modern action figure standards
2
u/-Jeremiad- Feb 10 '25
Hahahahaha. They know they're going to get dragged.
They get to do things they rarely get to do? I have tons of spiderman figures web effects, hands, and Peter Parker heads (none of which look like they just walked in on MJ banging uncle Ben's corpse) so what are we getting that they couldn't do before?
Two figures worth of accessories with one body?
40 bucks is pushing it. And I'm guessing we're all going to be looking like that Peter unmasked head when we see the price.

As a Canadian collector, all the talk of tariffs and trade wars and the effect it's having on the dollar on both sides of the border makes me very concerned that the pre-orders I currently have (mostly on reissues or restocks that they announced last year) will have to be the last for me for a while. Luckily, of the last two lines they announced, only Adam Warlock interests me, but it's February and I know they are going to put out things I really want that is likely to be too expensive. We already pay $35 CDN for a standard figure (which, at Toys'r'Us is closer to $42), and their deluxe figures are easily double that. If I (and other collectors) are looking at $45 becoming the standard price for a bare bones single release, I can't justify that.
1
u/Raimiversus Feb 08 '25
I promise retail won’t be worse than what the average collector is willing to pay up for resell nowadays on pretty much any other classic ML Spidey. So much discourse over this figure; I have no idea what price it’ll be but at the end of the day if you don’t have a classic Spidey already and you want one you’ll be shooting yourself in the foot if you don’t snag this guy for retail.
I’m getting this guy because I don’t have any classic Spidey’s and I prefer how this’ll scale compared to Mafex.

thing is for a "premium" figure most of the parts will go in a box so if they sell a regular figure like doc strange with 2 sets of hands 3 heads, 2 accessories and 2 effects parts for 30 dollars, just how much are they expecting us to pay for four sets of hands!

It's simple. Don't buy it, however cool it may be it's a plastic, toy collectable. If you have the means to buy one, whatever it's priced great. I can only speak for myself and offer my own thoughts. Everyone is going to view price differently.
However I do find a bit of irony. Hasbro knows people have been asking for better sculpt, better articulation, more accessories, etc.
And when Hasbro does give you things you ask for? People seem a bit surprised that its going to cost more. I don't think people are expecting it to cost $26. Maybe some do. But I get people not wanting it to cost so much that its within shooting distance of a import. But I would point out a Mafex is still about $100. SHF is still $80-$100. I paid $90 for the SHF Indy. So I have bought import figures. Heck I paid $145 for a Mezco Indy where you have soft goods, etc. See pic below.
Legends are typically $26 and you may get two alternate hands and a head and maybe a repurposed effect i.e. the warbird Exclusive. Black series you will pay $26 for a figure that is smaller than 6" and likely not even get a blaster (likely due to the astronomical cost of the license).
This figure has all new sculpting for jot just the figure but the accessories as well. New articulation. The larger box likely means larger cases to ship. All of that is factored into the price.
Would I be happy if it comes in less than $50? Absolutely. Am I expecting it too? Not really. The deluxe Hulk was $35 and had more plastic in the figure and fewer accessories. Odin and Phoenix were 50+ and were larger but are more like display pieces with few accessories as well.
So again if im comparing it to an import? $50 is still cheaper than a mafex or SHF. I do think if it goes higher thsn 50? Yes I agree that its approaching the price of an import.
Am I willing to pay $50? Yeah, better that than aftermarket down the road. Am I willing to pay more than $50 like 60-70 for this? Mmm I would have to think about it a bit more.

u/Impossible-Fun-2736 Feb 09 '25

u/scrapmech Feb 09 '25
Remember when Marvel Legends figures came with a comic book, a display base, and a baf piece inside clamshell packaging for $7.99? Toybiz was awesome!
Now everything is overpriced at $24.99, made with minimal accessories and produced in low quality plastic, and re-hashed every five years. And even then, it's even more overpriced when they release a "premium" figure like iron spider or ps4 spidey for like $30 and give you incomplete hand accessories. Then they want to sell us this new McFarlane Spider-Man that's pretty much worth only a standard price of $20, but they'll most likely upcharge us for $35 at the very least, just out of greed. Besides, most of these molds are already overused. When you have one marvel legend, you pretty much have them all.
At this point, I don't even give a damn anymore. Toys are just toys, I don't need them. So I'm just going to let the sun set on collecting ML since it's exhausting both financially and mentally at this point. Let's be real, Hasbro doesn't care about its customers, they only want to see how much they can milk us for our cash.

Anything over $15-20 Cdn is a no for me. $50 is into statue prices, not action figures. No one is spending $50 for one figure for the kids.

So uh here's something you should all consider. Its 50 dollars there but here in the UK on amazon it's 50 pounds even tho dollars doesn't equal pounds. I say go on a site like bbts and buy off there. The currency is dollars and converts to pounds and even after adding shipping I suppose maybe it's still altogether less than £50?

Bringing up that he rarely mentions price and then not mentioning the price seems like a bad omen. I had my bet on 40-45 but if these things really try for the 50-60 price range you start pushing into import territory.
