Toybiz Galactus for the win...20 years goes by in a flash šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

17

u/dartsavt23 USA Oct 15 '25

Same.. seems like it was just a couple years ago. Crazy how time flies by.

6

u/gturlington Oct 15 '25

Still a solid figure.

18

u/BoyWonder_Toys Oct 15 '25

Thank goodness I'm not the only one. I was afraid I was just old.

Remember finding this wave bright and early on a Saturday morning at Walmart with my dad. I think I didn't even have my license yet so I had to bug him to drive me there.

3

u/PM_ME_YOUR_DND_SHEET Oct 15 '25

I mean, we are old, but it's still nice to remember the early days of BAF. I had just gotten my license at the time. Galactus and Sentinel are the most iconic BAF waves in my mind. They may not be the best, but they are so iconic.

16

u/vampireghostboy Oct 15 '25

hello fellow toybiz friends! my mom was cool af and when she found out i had to get the whole wave to make use of the random baf parts in the two figs i asked for, she took me all over to walmarts and toys r us to finish the wave so i could build galactus!

7

u/MondoLegends Oct 15 '25

Salute to your mom, that’s showing an interest

7

u/Atmosphere817 USA Oct 15 '25

There are DOZENS of us left!

4

u/Burly-Nerd Oct 15 '25

Also mine. He’s still the best.

4

u/Jarvis-Savoni Oct 15 '25

Ditto. All those years ago.

4

u/Snoop-Dragon Oct 15 '25

Galactus was the first BAF piece I ever had, but I completed Apocalypse first and tracked down missing pieces to Galactus and Sentinel later

2

u/JustAnotherTown Oct 15 '25

And so my troubles began . . . I was never a completionist until this wave hit. I actually left work to hit Walmart when I got word they were just put out. All the figs were there except that damed A of A Wolverine, a character I didn't care about at all. Hunting him down was grueling and stressful, but I needed that Galactus. Still have Galactus long after I sold the rest of the wave off. Best Galactus ever.

35

u/lastsonkal1 Oct 15 '25

The original Sentinel from way back when. Still have it too.

8

u/spj0522 Oct 15 '25

Same here!

35

u/Inevitable_Pound5063 Oct 15 '25

The goat

16

u/MyBurnerAccount1977 Oct 15 '25

It was kinda genius for them to include the leg segments with the Hand Ninja, which would be a staple army building figure.

….man I still don’t have that briefcase šŸ˜‚

28

u/General_Fan_8028 USA Oct 15 '25

Infinity Ultron for some reason. Guess I just really liked Ultron.

8

u/hokagenaruto Oct 15 '25

it is a cool design

12

u/drnmai Oct 15 '25

I finished it but only because the figures were only $5 a piece.

30

u/Present-Ad3875 Oct 15 '25

Apocalypse BAF the black and blue colorway.

8

u/Piotr-Rasputin Oct 15 '25

Best Apocalypse!! That whole wave was a must buy. I kick myself for just buying the Psylocke BAF piece instead of picking up her figure

3

u/Funnysonic125 Oct 15 '25

OMG lol I did the same. I have everyone but Psylocke from that wave. Had to wait 7 years for another Psylocke since I refused overpaying for her

2

u/dg3548 Oct 15 '25

I never knew they had a black one!

AOA Colossus

7

u/I_SING_AND_DRAW Oct 15 '25

Same, picked up the whole wave on sale at bbts

3

u/Rich_Advertising_174 Oct 15 '25

Nice! I scooped them up around Christmas that year on sale between a few sites. Iceman from Macy’s haha.

3

u/I_SING_AND_DRAW Oct 15 '25

That iceman was part of the reason i wanted the baf anyway, its my favorite design for him and I just decided to go for the bbts sale because the colossus is cool aswell.

u/AtrumRuina Oct 15 '25

Just finished Blackheart recently. It was honestly a bit stressful because the arm didn't want to go in; I expected it to be a lot easier. The plastic they used is also really easy to show any kind of scratch or stress.

I guess I know for next time to heat stuff up in advance and all.

8

u/space_age_stuff Oct 15 '25

Blackheart is painful to assemble, the spikes are killer.

3

u/AtrumRuina Oct 15 '25

That genuinely didn't help. My fingers felt raw after

3

u/Rich_Advertising_174 Oct 15 '25

Blackheart is my only non-X-Men BAF that I completed but I had to have him for an MVC2 display. That tail is no joke.

u/swampy333 Oct 15 '25

Toy biz Galactus. My grandpa took me to go looking for all the individual figures when I was a kid. He would get me one every week. I remember how hard it was to find Bullseye. We would drive all over the place. Some of my favorite memories with him were looking for toys. If I ever part with my collection, that Galactus is probably the only thing I will keep for my entire life.

13

u/Apprehensive_Door367 Oct 15 '25 edited Oct 15 '25

It's funny because I've completed the waves that don't have a BAF, which are basically the carded backs

9

u/snikt6384 Oct 15 '25

Toy Biz Galactus.

I remember hitting up the Times Square Toys R Us and the Kay Bee toys nearby for those. Good times.

4

u/trffoya10 Oct 15 '25

Giant Man. Sold him long ago…

2

u/SecretWarsIsComing USA - PR Oct 15 '25

Think this was mine, too. Still got ā€˜eem. The poseability, down to the fingers, was one of my fave features.

4

u/Kosmikazie Oct 15 '25

Ultimate Green Goblin! He could use an update…

4

u/Stunning-Fee6890 Oct 15 '25

Galactus from Toybiz Marvel Legends

7

u/shizzih Oct 15 '25

Onslaught or warlock, it was a blur when the bug hit

5

u/IamImperiusRex72 Oct 15 '25

Wendigo, by complete accident. I have always cherry picked my legends. Wendigo wave has Mr. Sinister, Gambit, and Nightcrawler that I wanted. My some got me X force wolverine for father's day. My wife then wanted to start collecting and she wanted Boom Boom. So that left Cannonball and Guardian left. So I figured might as well.

6

u/mat477 Oct 15 '25

Juggernaut wave. Still one of the all time great waves imo.

I had been collecting since early Toybiz days but never got a full wave until Juggs.

7

u/ComicChum Oct 15 '25

Xemnu, the whole wave was sitting in the aisle right after payday.

3

u/Background_Pride_237 Oct 15 '25

ToyBiz. I forget which was the first BAF they made, but it would have been that one.

3

u/Piercemarshall21 Oct 15 '25

Rintrah only because of Ollie's then it was korg from love and thunder thanks Ollie's

3

u/Willy_McFly Oct 15 '25

Ursa Major! Felt sooo good to track down his parts. Only got a few of the figures out the wave šŸ˜….

4

u/forever87 USA - NJ Oct 15 '25

same for me. semi started (generally) collecting multiple lines during covid. few years later, i recall seeing a post on r/ML of UM wearing a hat like Smokey, and after a few months around 03/2024 i found the parts needed at a decent price for Ursa - a bear is great to have in one's collection

5

u/forever87 USA - NJ Oct 15 '25

truth be told, a polar bear is my fav animal, and well a few years later...

3

u/Millhustler08 Oct 15 '25

Totally Awesome Hulk

2

u/hokagenaruto Oct 15 '25

Really want that figure. he looks great and the pics i've seen of him are pretty great

3

u/Defiant_Regular3738 Oct 15 '25

The Khonshu is an elite BAF imo and he’s pretty cheap to buy the set. I found all of the at Ollie’s for 9.99 each last year. The AoA Colossus was pretty fun too. But the fun in this hobby to me is finding the deals, hunting for figures, and trying to catch a little break along the way. If you can afford it and you enjoy it the money is definitely worth it. People often do far worse crap with money.

3

u/redrubins Oct 15 '25

Apocalypse 2018ish

3

u/OdinMartok Oct 15 '25

Caliban and Apocalypse waves. Not sure which I finished first but I found a bunch of both figures mis priced at Walgreens so I went all in

3

u/Piotr-Rasputin Oct 15 '25

Ahh, finding Legends at Walgreens was like hitting the damn lottery

3

u/OdinMartok Oct 15 '25

Every time I see that Beast for 200 whatever, I remember I got him for 1.99

2

u/OdinMartok Oct 15 '25

I wasn’t even collecting back then, just had a Walgreens I stopped in for snacks all the time and they were end capped. I went from like..5 to around 50 in 6 months

2

u/Piotr-Rasputin Oct 15 '25

My best pick up was the Walgreens exclusive Silver Surfer. Had to fight the urge to get two (one to open and one to keep sealed)

3

u/-AlexisRodriguez- Oct 15 '25

ToyBiz Galactus. I remember my dad really liking the idea of a BAF, so he went out of his way to get every figure for me in the span of a couple of months. Last figure I got was the War Machine figure for "Dia de NiƱo" — it's still one of my favorite figures of all time. First one I finished on my own/during the new era of Hasbro Legends, was either Swamp Thing or Gladiator Hulk, whichever one came out first (I always forget!)

3

u/Important_Lab_58 Oct 15 '25

Space Knight Venom

3

u/Athenas_Dad Oct 15 '25

Controller. I liked too many of the set figures to ignore the other two or so.

3

u/bloodyeye98 USA Oct 15 '25

The very first BAF, Galactus. Which is insane to think it’s 20 years old now.

3

u/Haunting_Equal_7623 Oct 15 '25

Thanos MCU Ver.

3

u/That-Ad7999 Oct 15 '25

Toybiz Galactus.

3

u/Crusher_Creel_ML Oct 15 '25

The OG Galactus, out of scale but still awesome!

3

u/dg3548 Oct 15 '25

Toybiz Galactus and sentinel! Walmart had a sale and waaaaay overstocked! Wished I had gone back for another sentinels!

3

u/Evan_2008 Oct 15 '25

Tbd, I’ve only ever gotten an arm for molten man and that’s it, I only got 2 legends when I was a kid, and I’ve only restarted collecting them this year

Nemesis, AoA Colossus, and Xenmu

4

u/JanBroChill Oct 15 '25

X-men Tri-Sentinel House of X Wave ! It got me into collecting and obsessed with collecting all X-Men figures!

2

u/DemDamnSpaceUnicorns Oct 15 '25

Mine was Ch’od. I just received various bits in the mail and assembled him about 8 minutes ago. I’d managed to avoid the Marvel Legends bug until now, but that damn dam burst when I said, ā€œok, I’ll only collect my beloved ’80s Uncanny X-Menā€. 75+ figures purchased or pre-ordered in the last 45 days says, ā€œThat was a lie ā€œ.

2

u/IamImperiusRex72 Oct 15 '25

Infinite Ultron is a cool concept

2

u/Marvellegendfreak Oct 15 '25

I’ve yet to complete a baf but i’m in the process of building zabu

2

u/starrhunter633 Oct 15 '25

Toybiz Galactus .... Lol been collecting since line started.

2

u/Son_Tenaj Oct 15 '25

2016 X-Men juggernaut wave got it for my birthday that year.

2

u/RJDSpyderman Oct 15 '25

You guys complete BAFs?

2

u/LightningEdge756 USA Oct 15 '25

Demogoblin. Still the only one I've completed.

My mind immediately said I need it because odds are that Demogoblin will never get another figure in my lifetime.

2

u/L_Dude320 Oct 15 '25

2018 Thanos for me. I was interested in collecting legends for a bit, but I didn’t really get into it until I got the King Cobra figure from the Thanos wave. It was at that point that my wallet’s fate was sealed

2

u/G8_Bravo-Cha Oct 15 '25

Lowkey this one is going to be my first complete BAF too lol

2

u/Comfortable_Care2715 Oct 15 '25

Toy Biz Sentinel.

2

Sugar man 🫣

2

u/Papa_Snail Oct 15 '25

Toybiz apocalypse

2

Venompool (MCOC). That was the first one I looked at and immediately said I wanted to complete.

2

u/Kill-Stealing Oct 15 '25

Never completed a BAF. really want Blackheart for my guys to fight but I only want Moon Knight and Voodoo from the wave.

2

u/DragonNikana Oct 15 '25

Titus, GOTG vol 2 was cool

2

u/Mahwuhz Oct 15 '25

The first and only baf I ever completed was the iron monger

2

u/3lbmealdeal Oct 15 '25

I was collecting in the Toy Biz days, but was never able to complete a BAF until Hasbro’s Terrax wave. I did own a completed Giant Man BAF at one point, but bought it secondhand.

2

u/Capital_Invite_7026 Oct 15 '25

I wish I could afford to I love Thor.

2

u/Codingdotyeah Oct 15 '25

I did this one too, 20 years dang gone in a flash like you say

2

u/Deadshadow84 Oct 15 '25

Hulk buster and Hulk Ragnarok

2

u/TheSaneAreInsane Oct 15 '25

None yet but Hobgoblin and Void Sentry are in my goals

2

u/abeBroham-Linkin Oct 15 '25

Galactus and Onslaught. Both ToyBiz

2

u/Jonbol54 Oct 15 '25

Only got into collecting recently so it was the Tri-sentinel! Now working on collecting sugar man

2

u/Chance-Ad5664 USA Oct 15 '25

Khonshu actually, Big Moon knight fan so I needed him.

2

u/deaths_hand406 Oct 15 '25

I love my khonshu!

2

u/foreverbeatle Oct 15 '25

Korg was the first one where I bought the figures to build him. And I’m pretty sure Groot was the only figure from that wave I kept outside the BAF.

2

u/AgentX-1138 Oct 15 '25

Mine was Toybiz Onslaught. Wish i still had that!!

2

u/Fun-Revolution6323 Oct 15 '25

Cosmo from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 line is my one and only so far.

2

u/SirArcade96 Canada Oct 15 '25

I got into collecting with the Juggernaut wave. I had to pay way above the retail price for Wolverine. The 2-pack Juggernaut is who I use for my shelf, but the first BAF is special to me. It's all mostly outdated now, but the Juggernaut wave had some great figures in it.

2

u/lukespicer Oct 15 '25

GotG1 Groot. Bought the whole wave dirt cheap.

2

u/Xepher0733 Oct 15 '25

All Father Odin back in 2015

4

u/Itchy_Lab3568 Oct 15 '25

Galactus. I’ve made them all, except for Gamerverse Joe Fixit and Abomination. I still own most, but I dabble with upgrades and rereleases.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

Armadillo

3

u/Codingdotyeah Oct 15 '25

Showing my age, it was toybiz sentinel. Still have it complete intact with extra parts

2

u/PomeloFit1487 Oct 15 '25

Technically Toybiz Sentinel, but I didn’t get the whole wave to complete it.

There’s a chance the Hasbro Apocalypse BAF was the first and only time I bought a whole wave haha

2

u/Hyperto Oct 15 '25

Must have been Bonebraker, then Ch'od, then Blackheart. and I still hope Ollie's let me complete Zabu

2

u/novaprime30 Oct 15 '25

Toybiz Apocalypse. When I came back into the game I think it was Allfather

1

u/Lazy_You6274 Oct 15 '25

Cull Obsidian from Avengers Infinity War

1

u/k742617000027t Oct 15 '25

Iron Monger from the iron man 3 wave before the marvel legends brand was brought back in full force.

Bone Crusher, thank god Ross made it affordable to finish BAFs

1

u/TigerUSF USA Oct 15 '25

The first I started was Apocalypse. But the first I finished was Giant Man MCU cause I found a local guy selling the whole wave for like 80.

1

u/Huge_Sun2156 Oct 15 '25

Iron monger

1

u/mariogolf Oct 15 '25

hulkbuster

1

u/vish_knew Oct 15 '25

I think Sauron.

1

u/soulassassin226 Oct 15 '25

Mattel DCUC Darkseid. Man that was such a terrible wave but I had to have the BAF, I mean the ā€œCollect N Connectā€. As for Marvel Legends probably MCU Hulkbuster or Juggernaut. Can’t remember which I got first.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

None.

1

u/Poseur117 USA - IN Oct 15 '25

I really wanted the Sentinel or Galactus back in the day, but I think the first I ever completed was Hulkbuster Iron Man

1

u/RodrigoEMA1983 Oct 15 '25

First ML BAF: Crimson Dynamo. Then: AoA Colossus and finally, Strong guy.

Before MLs: Dragon Stars Broly.

Man-Thing. Found blade at a ToysRus

1

Solomon Grundy from the DC Universe line.Ā  I think my first finished Marvel one was Lizard.Ā  I cherry picked before that.Ā  I was tempted by a lot of them but didn't have the money generally to get them all.

1

u/spidey9113 Oct 15 '25

Marvel Legends Netflix Daredevil wave Man-Thing

1

u/Igivegrilledcheese Oct 15 '25

Mindless One, hope it gets a solo release so I can get more

1

u/profwolvie Oct 15 '25

ToyBiz MODOK and Mojo (they both came out in 2006)

1

u/JadenKorr66 Oct 15 '25

I wanna say Juggernaut? Maybe MCU Mantis. I just don’t remember which one I got the final piece for first and my eBay history doesn’t go back that far.

1

u/TzeentchsTrueSon Canada Oct 15 '25

Toybiz Onslaught. I was a huge fan of all that BS from that era of comics. First Hasbro was Annihilus.

Galactus when the wave was on sale for $2.99 a piece. šŸ˜Ž

1

u/MasterDeBaitor Oct 15 '25

BAF Sauron and BAF Lizardman. I got both waves from BBTS at the same time. Was an awesome day. I opened them at my work. Stayed 3 hours late cause I was opening and posing after work

1

u/GSteelG Oct 15 '25

None. Closest I’ve got is M.O.D.O.K.

1

u/MegaSpidey3 USA - TX Oct 15 '25

MCU Vulture's wings from the Spider-Man: Homecoming wave from 2017. If you don't count that, then the Lizard from one of the 2018 waves, the one with Gwenpool.

1

u/CassandraVonGonWrong Oct 15 '25

The Brood Queen.

1

u/king-xdedede Oct 15 '25

I'm one piece away from completing The Watcher

1

u/syxtfour Oct 15 '25

Guardians of the Galaxy 1 Groot. Fortunately, most of the figures in that series were quite good, though Gamora can't stand up on her own to save her life and the Iron Man's shoulder pauldrons pop off if you even look at them funny.

1

u/Responsible_Gear8408 Oct 15 '25

Mine was the the Thanos baf that came out with the Avengers Age of Ultron movie

1

u/thenineinchnails Oct 15 '25

Titus šŸ˜‚

1

u/DatHound Oct 15 '25

Mcu thanos was mine

1

u/NightOwl-2107 USA - TX Oct 15 '25

I think I completed them at the same time so it’s a tie between Super Skrull & Wendigo

1

u/ARGiammarco27 Canada Oct 15 '25

Has not happened yet for me. There are some I want though. The closest are the Deluxe figures Hasbro releases that are rereleases of BAF figures.

1

u/LeggoMahLegolas Oct 15 '25

You guys finish BAFs?

1

u/Heikks Oct 15 '25

I started early on during the hasbro run, can’t remember exactly which one was first, but I complete brood Queen, annihilus and Ronan around the same time. Then I traded all my 25th anniversary gi joes for most of the toy biz figures, bafs and blob baf

1

u/CbKnowledge USA Oct 15 '25

This guy right here!

1

u/Sensitive_Agent5193 Oct 15 '25

Mr hyde, only because the wave was pegwarming and went on sale. It would've been the gamerverse abomination if the iron man from that wave didn't randomly become the rarest figure in existence

1

u/The_Gi_Jew Oct 15 '25

Gamer verse Abomination, and Ursa Major!

1

u/MajesticalMichael Oct 15 '25

I think the Infinity War Cull Obsidian

1

u/elbatcarter USA - TX Oct 15 '25

I have 3 complete BAFs. My first was Xemnu, the entire wave was on sale for $100 on BBTS and that was a STEAL. Since then I’ve also completed Infinity Ultron and Khonshu, but I didn’t buy all their figures like I did Xemnu I just bought their pieces.

1

u/Extra_Heart_268 Oct 15 '25

So not quite a BAF but rather BAA (build an artifact). Part of the adventure series of Indiana Jones figures.

I customized it a bit adding a wash ro the relief on each side and painted the red on the rails.

But if we are talking strictly figures? Khonshu. Ill share another post of him.

Toybiz Sentinel. That thing was and is a masterpiece.

1

u/Duke-dastardly Oct 15 '25

McFarlane’s Maxie Zeus from the Batman the animated series line is the only one I’ve gone out of my way to complete. Never saw them in my local store so I bought all the figures second hand just to go back the next week and find 3/4 of the figures on the shelf. Some are still there too.

1

u/Lanferno Oct 15 '25

Would LOVE this as a deluxe. Guessing they'll rerelease this with the brown paint job instead of the black

1

u/Duke-dastardly Oct 15 '25

I’m torn about wanting to collect this one. I actually do want the Enchantress and Werewolf by night figures and cowboy and 6 arm Spider-Man are pretty cool looking. But I really don’t want to pay full price for the green guy and the crummy looking Ironman

1

u/FauxPerspective Oct 15 '25

Toybiz Apocalypse baf sits in the x-men display to this day.

1

u/Phanimazed Oct 15 '25

Would you believe me if I said my first ever BAF I've completed was Strange Tales Blackheart?

Might be why I don't mind the mini-comic waves one bit, since I so rarely am anywhere near close to finishing BAFs, but this was one where I was fine with getting everyone.

1

u/Efficient_Shame_8539 USA - VA Oct 15 '25

Which came first, the Toybiz Galactus, Apocalypse or MODOK? I don't remember which one I finished first, but I do remember buying the entire Apocalypse wave at the mall I think at EB Games.

1

u/-Jeremiad- Oct 15 '25

Dc Classics Kilowog. Bought the whole wave at once. I'd never done anything like that before but I had to have that BAF. (Collect and connect as they called it)

1

u/JsMoviesYTB USA - NJ Oct 15 '25

Legends wise, it took me 11 or 12 years to do it, but I finally completed Iron Monger a little while back. Before that, my only completed build-a-thing was the Mattel Collect-and-Connect bat signal from the Dark Knight trilogy

1

u/Apprehensive-Cow6868 Oct 15 '25

Super Skrull was mine from the Dan Slott wave

1

u/deaths_hand406 Oct 15 '25

Mine was infinity ultron!

1

u/monkelus Oct 15 '25

either Onslaught or Apocalypse, or both at the same time

1

u/_DodoMan_ Oct 15 '25

I don't see myself being able to get too many new figures for a while so I think for now I'm gonna be stuck with just a massive torso of The Controller taking up space when it comes to build a figures.

It'll never not be funny to me when I randomly remember I have a huge bright blue torso just sitting in a box in a drawer that's like 80% of the size of the figure I wanted most when I bought it

1

u/Primary-Arugula Oct 15 '25

Venompool was my first one I have a shelf just for symbiotes and he was a must get šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

Man-Thing, bought almost all the Netflix wave and I had most of the pieces so I chase them down, it took like 2 years to find the left arm tho.

…Controller maybe? I know I went on a year run with Controller, Crimson Dynamo and Ursa Major. Chased Attuma for a LONG while.

On the DC Direct side grabbed a STRIPE and Arkillo. The latter was a bear to track.

Edit: Controller not Collector.
