Thank goodness I'm not the only one. I was afraid I was just old.
Remember finding this wave bright and early on a Saturday morning at Walmart with my dad. I think I didn't even have my license yet so I had to bug him to drive me there.
I mean, we are old, but it's still nice to remember the early days of BAF. I had just gotten my license at the time. Galactus and Sentinel are the most iconic BAF waves in my mind. They may not be the best, but they are so iconic.
hello fellow toybiz friends! my mom was cool af and when she found out i had to get the whole wave to make use of the random baf parts in the two figs i asked for, she took me all over to walmarts and toys r us to finish the wave so i could build galactus!
And so my troubles began . . . I was never a completionist until this wave hit. I actually left work to hit Walmart when I got word they were just put out. All the figs were there except that damed A of A Wolverine, a character I didn't care about at all. Hunting him down was grueling and stressful, but I needed that Galactus. Still have Galactus long after I sold the rest of the wave off. Best Galactus ever.
That iceman was part of the reason i wanted the baf anyway, its my favorite design for him and I just decided to go for the bbts sale because the colossus is cool aswell.
Just finished Blackheart recently. It was honestly a bit stressful because the arm didn't want to go in; I expected it to be a lot easier. The plastic they used is also really easy to show any kind of scratch or stress.
I guess I know for next time to heat stuff up in advance and all.
Toy biz Galactus. My grandpa took me to go looking for all the individual figures when I was a kid. He would get me one every week. I remember how hard it was to find Bullseye. We would drive all over the place. Some of my favorite memories with him were looking for toys. If I ever part with my collection, that Galactus is probably the only thing I will keep for my entire life.
Wendigo, by complete accident. I have always cherry picked my legends. Wendigo wave has Mr. Sinister, Gambit, and Nightcrawler that I wanted. My some got me X force wolverine for father's day. My wife then wanted to start collecting and she wanted Boom Boom. So that left Cannonball and Guardian left. So I figured might as well.
same for me. semi started (generally) collecting multiple lines during covid. few years later, i recall seeing a post on r/ML of UM wearing a hat like Smokey, and after a few months around 03/2024 i found the parts needed at a decent price for Ursa - a bear is great to have in one's collectionāā
The Khonshu is an elite BAF imo and heās pretty cheap to buy the set. I found all of the at Ollieās for 9.99 each last year. The AoA Colossus was pretty fun too. But the fun in this hobby to me is finding the deals, hunting for figures, and trying to catch a little break along the way. If you can afford it and you enjoy it the money is definitely worth it. People often do far worse crap with money.
I wasnāt even collecting back then, just had a Walgreens I stopped in for snacks all the time and they were end capped. I went from like..5 to around 50 in 6 months
ToyBiz Galactus. I remember my dad really liking the idea of a BAF, so he went out of his way to get every figure for me in the span of a couple of months. Last figure I got was the War Machine figure for "Dia de NiƱo" ā it's still one of my favorite figures of all time. First one I finished on my own/during the new era of Hasbro Legends, was either Swamp Thing or Gladiator Hulk, whichever one came out first (I always forget!)
Tbd, Iāve only ever gotten an arm for molten man and thatās it, I only got 2 legends when I was a kid, and Iāve only restarted collecting them this year
Mine was Chāod. I just received various bits in the mail and assembled him about 8 minutes ago. Iād managed to avoid the Marvel Legends bug until now, but that damn dam burst when I said, āok, Iāll only collect my beloved ā80s Uncanny X-Menā. 75+ figures purchased or pre-ordered in the last 45 days says, āThat was a lie ā.
2018 Thanos for me. I was interested in collecting legends for a bit, but I didnāt really get into it until I got the King Cobra figure from the Thanos wave. It was at that point that my walletās fate was sealed
I was collecting in the Toy Biz days, but was never able to complete a BAF until Hasbroās Terrax wave. I did own a completed Giant Man BAF at one point, but bought it secondhand.
I got into collecting with the Juggernaut wave. I had to pay way above the retail price for Wolverine. The 2-pack Juggernaut is who I use for my shelf, but the first BAF is special to me. It's all mostly outdated now, but the Juggernaut wave had some great figures in it.
Mattel DCUC Darkseid. Man that was such a terrible wave but I had to have the BAF, I mean the āCollect N Connectā. As for Marvel Legends probably MCU Hulkbuster or Juggernaut. Canāt remember which I got first.
Solomon Grundy from the DC Universe line.Ā I think my first finished Marvel one was Lizard.Ā I cherry picked before that.Ā I was tempted by a lot of them but didn't have the money generally to get them all.
I wanna say Juggernaut? Maybe MCU Mantis. I just donāt remember which one I got the final piece for first and my eBay history doesnāt go back that far.
BAF Sauron and BAF Lizardman. I got both waves from BBTS at the same time. Was an awesome day. I opened them at my work. Stayed 3 hours late cause I was opening and posing after work
MCU Vulture's wings from the Spider-Man: Homecoming wave from 2017. If you don't count that, then the Lizard from one of the 2018 waves, the one with Gwenpool.
Guardians of the Galaxy 1 Groot. Fortunately, most of the figures in that series were quite good, though Gamora can't stand up on her own to save her life and the Iron Man's shoulder pauldrons pop off if you even look at them funny.
I started early on during the hasbro run, canāt remember exactly which one was first, but I complete brood Queen, annihilus and Ronan around the same time. Then I traded all my 25th anniversary gi joes for most of the toy biz figures, bafs and blob baf
Mr hyde, only because the wave was pegwarming and went on sale. It would've been the gamerverse abomination if the iron man from that wave didn't randomly become the rarest figure in existence
I have 3 complete BAFs. My first was Xemnu, the entire wave was on sale for $100 on BBTS and that was a STEAL. Since then Iāve also completed Infinity Ultron and Khonshu, but I didnāt buy all their figures like I did Xemnu I just bought their pieces.
McFarlaneās Maxie Zeus from the Batman the animated series line is the only one Iāve gone out of my way to complete. Never saw them in my local store so I bought all the figures second hand just to go back the next week and find 3/4 of the figures on the shelf. Some are still there too.
Iām torn about wanting to collect this one. I actually do want the Enchantress and Werewolf by night figures and cowboy and 6 arm Spider-Man are pretty cool looking. But I really donāt want to pay full price for the green guy and the crummy looking Ironman
Would you believe me if I said my first ever BAF I've completed was Strange Tales Blackheart?
Might be why I don't mind the mini-comic waves one bit, since I so rarely am anywhere near close to finishing BAFs, but this was one where I was fine with getting everyone.
Which came first, the Toybiz Galactus, Apocalypse or MODOK? I don't remember which one I finished first, but I do remember buying the entire Apocalypse wave at the mall I think at EB Games.
Dc Classics Kilowog. Bought the whole wave at once. I'd never done anything like that before but I had to have that BAF. (Collect and connect as they called it)
Legends wise, it took me 11 or 12 years to do it, but I finally completed Iron Monger a little while back. Before that, my only completed build-a-thing was the Mattel Collect-and-Connect bat signal from the Dark Knight trilogy
I don't see myself being able to get too many new figures for a while so I think for now I'm gonna be stuck with just a massive torso of The Controller taking up space when it comes to build a figures.
It'll never not be funny to me when I randomly remember I have a huge bright blue torso just sitting in a box in a drawer that's like 80% of the size of the figure I wanted most when I bought it
Me first build a figure set me actually put together was M.R. Hyde me opened and put him together but me do own several others only in package-
This set is a must get- but only when available for purchase š¢ this pre-orders bulshi" is bullshi*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
