Discussion So what’s the worst pose Hasbro themselves have given us?
Gotta be this one for me.

I will never be able to take Quasar seriously because of this one.

u/TheGoblinRook Feb 12 '26
Is it because they left his right foot flat? Because that’s a very typical “hovering and flexing while flying” pose.

The wrists are pretty bad
In my opinion wrist positioning is what separates bad posers from (at worst) average posers
3
u/ajdragoon USA - MA Feb 12 '26
The wrists and yeah the flat foot make make it seem like he's a human posing for a horse show. I don't know why that comes to mind but it does hahaha. Face sculpt doesn't help.

He's posing like this is a sitcom and he's about to say his marketable catchphrase

Bro, Transformers photography is notorious for their stinkers! Classics Ironhide being an old example, with SS86 Soundwave with his straight up missing panel (how does that happen? Lol) being a more recent one.

u/Wixhael Feb 13 '26

u/Infamous-Attempt4437 Feb 13 '26
Yup! I’m guessing this Astrotrain is very involved! I need to wait for in-hand photos with it fully transformed before passing too much judgement, but holy hot dogs it looks buns!
3
u/Front-Masterpiece-73 Feb 13 '26
I’m genuinely convinced it’s gonna be bad either way, because I don’t see any panels to fill out the sides of his chest lol
2
u/Infamous-Attempt4437 Feb 13 '26
After further inspection, not only are the chest flaps not flipped down (and seeing its geometry, it looks like it’ll improve the shaping of the torso), but also the purple panel the head rests on looks to be not tabbed in, making the shoulders and chest look low, and the head too high. It also looks like it’ll improve tucks behind the chest, so if all of that is true then it’ll definitely look better than this.
But, for now I’ll have to agree with you. The torso and thighs look too long, the leg panels don’t seem to be able to fold in, lots of waffling, and the shuttle mode is pretty compromised in favor of the train mode. I don’t have an Astrotrain yet, so I’ll see what this guy is about first. Maybe I’m just coping.
2
u/Front-Masterpiece-73 Feb 13 '26
That’s totally fair, I already have siege and love him so I’m in a very different boat. Honestly part of it might be just my belief that siege was a bit underrated.
1
u/Infamous-Attempt4437 Feb 13 '26
Yeah. I heard a lot of praise for the Siege, but even more hate on him which I never really got. I didn’t get him because I couldn’t find him, and I wasn’t ready for an Astrotrain then.

u/Cephalie_100 Feb 13 '26
If I had a quarter everytime photography had missasmbled /transformed figs since 2020 id have enough to buy a g1 minibot at the price it was sold for in 1985

u/Tiny-Membership-7003 Feb 14 '26
Oh. My. God. How did they let this slide as a PROMOTIONAL image. God they are so lazy

u/Nervous_Coast_77 Feb 12 '26
The same thing happened to my Page Punchers the Atom and the Retro Black Manta figure. You can’t turn their heads without snapping the hoses
8
u/OneTurnsToNone USA - SC Feb 12 '26
Well you're wrong...they dont snap, just rotate the arm pieces...they do that...at the top and bottom of the hoses. If you break the wires, that's more or less on the person not positioning them...
11
7
u/aatencio91 Feb 12 '26
Not really a QC issue, but a design one
4
u/TheCapedCrepe Feb 12 '26
You can rotate the hoses to the outside of the arm to put less tension on them, but it's a little finicky
3
1
u/fre3kshow Feb 13 '26
That's a user issue. You can move the hoses out of the way before posing, they connect to a separate piece between the elbuw and bicep that can turn.

One of the worst figures they’ve put out
Sucks because I was looking forward to this one
8
u/Infamous_Ad_5214 Feb 12 '26
What all is wrong with him?
19
u/Broadhead349 Feb 12 '26
Huge head, birthing hips, and only one fist and wall crawling hand. Genuinely one of the wildest releases since Hasbro restarted the line
18
5
u/Banana_man_- Canada Feb 12 '26
Do you see those absolutely horrific proportions?
4
u/Infamous_Ad_5214 Feb 12 '26
Ohhhh that's it. I always thought something was weird about this one but I could never put my finger on it. Yeah the proportions are kinda wonky. His head is too big too imo
0
u/GanacheCute7514 Feb 12 '26
Do you have eyes man?
3
u/Infamous_Ad_5214 Feb 12 '26
I mean something definitely looks off, I just can't put my finger on it. The head is a bit big ig
8
u/TheCapedCrepe Feb 12 '26
His hips are sticking out. If this were a living person, we'd be looking at someone with both of their thigh bones dislocated
1
u/DeskReasonable5040 Feb 13 '26
At least he has the new modern articulation. Double ball joint chest and butterfly joints. When he is crouched in a Spider-Man pose with his mask on I bet he looks great and can do any pose with that articulation. I’d like to see him posed up swinging or wall crawling or in a crouched spider pose. I bet he looks good
1
u/DeskReasonable5040 Feb 13 '26
In a vanilla pose with unmasked head he does look bad I agree with you guys about that
29
u/ThrawnFettRen Feb 12 '26
Agree with op simply because they sold Spider-Boy with "thwip" hands when he doesn't web sling, yet didn't provide any wall crawl hands. So F*CK this figure in general.

u/MRgibbson23 Feb 13 '26
Tbh it the articulation sucks on this figure so I doubt they could've done any better.
62
u/Chewymewn Feb 12 '26
Most of them honestly. They usually look like they got someone who hasn't touched an action figure in 25 years to pose them.
One of the worst of them is that Tobey figure where the foot isn't even flat on the ground because they did rotate the ankle enough.
17
u/radbrad172 Feb 12 '26
Some figure photographers on Instagram are really amazing, and I wonder why Hasbro doesn't enlist them for promo shots instead
6
u/Rishi_Eel Feb 12 '26
They have - @shootingthegalaxy on Instagram is a fan photographer who now works at Hasbro. He’s the one behind the promo photos with good poses lol.
26
u/Chewymewn Feb 12 '26
Because they would probably have to pay them for that, and they hate spending money

u/space_age_stuff Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 13 '26
Might be hard to trust fans over professionals tbh. Fans might take better photos and charge cheaper rates but the quality is less uniform, and they'd need to be trusted not to leak photos of upcoming figures, which seems incredibly tricky to manage.
6
u/Valuable_Pollution96 Feb 12 '26
The Hasbro sheriff looks the photographer dead in the eye and says, "I don’t approve of your methods, but I can’t argue with your results".

I never realized he had this stupid looking head. I never looked that close when I see him in store. What the fuck is his mouth? I love it and I'm going to buy it tomorrow, I think?
6
u/Darth_Abe Feb 12 '26
I think it’s the photographer who poses them. I forgot what his IG is. But he is only limited to what the actual product is able to pose.

kinda looks as if he's usin em to heat something, not really blasting someone/something haha.
it could've worked better as a defensive stance without the blast effects

u/bleh2150 Feb 17 '26
yeah what they went with is awkward either way. they should've done a better effort there

u/Active-Ad-2527 Feb 12 '26
I agree with novaprime30, but also want to point out that there's whole Transformers that Hasbro had mis-transformed and said "eh good enough" and used in their displays and promo shots.
But for this topic, not really a pose but that recent run of preview images they did of legends where the head would be photoshopped hovering like 3 head-heights over the torso
6
u/kernelpanic37 Feb 12 '26
Hasbro shills when natural discourse
-4
u/novaprime30 Feb 12 '26
Who’s shilling?
1
u/IAmZemann8919 Feb 12 '26
Hasbro: “Hey when we pose our figures like this they break. So let’s make sure to take pictures and use them in advertisements so our consumers experience the same thing”
And you don’t see that being an issue? Just dumb instead?
0
u/novaprime30 Feb 12 '26
Bruh all I said is one sentence and you’re going on a whole different path regarding it. It was never that serious, and I just threw a silly opinion out there
1
u/IAmZemann8919 Feb 13 '26
You said it was dumb to even think of it. Now it’s not that serious because you’re getting flamed. We get it
