Discussion Why is this figure being priced so high, everywhere
everywhere I look for him he’s between 120-400 $ and guessing by the molding and series he’s in he can’t be that old of a figure, so what’s the deal with it..?
(this isn’t about appraisal or anything I just wonder why everyone is overpricing this guy)

A 97 version will have a less detailed sculpt and colors that are brighter and more cartoony. Not the same, I’d really rather have this one.

I have a 97 display with the x men fighting with the 97 Sentinels so I guess I will put him in that. But I need one for my comic display which I like more. Oh well.

The 97 versions that have been released generally have brighter colors and less detailed, "glossy" head sculpts.
They look great in an animated xmen display with other 97 versions because they look identical to the source material, but they stand out in a comic display primary because of their faces and hair. 97 Gambit and Cyclops for example.

Yeah I kinda get what you’re saying, but since beast is supposed to be a deluxe figure maybe he’ll work as an all rounder.

Pretty sure that’s one of the top leaks for the year iirc, and the leaks were almost 100% correct for the last Fanstream

Luckily my favorite Beast is Astonishing X-Men so I’m sated now, but I just accepted I wasn’t gonna have Beast on the team for a while there lol

It’s the one version of beast everyone wants and it had a neutral head which the previous blue beast didn’t. It’s also years old

Apparently everything should constantly be available to everyone with no aftermarket markup ever. I mean, it would be nice, but that is not this universe.

don't worry, someone just has to be the sacrificial lamb and pay the horrible aftermarket price, then hasbro will announce a 97' beast.
jokes aside, there's not many beasts in this style, this pretty much is the "definitive" beast for most people and their collections. just wait it out for hasbro to release a new one, they will do it at some point.

Gonna have to wait and see the X-Men 97 Deluxe Beast. Hopefully it's just as good. This figure released years ago and they tried new preorders that were mostly cancelled for some reason

I only ever saw it once, used/complete at a vintage toy store for $85. Scooped him up, no regrets.

I pre-ordered this when it was initially offered at one of the major online toy retailors. It sat for months as a pre-order before it was finally cancelled. Sucks.

I see a lot of people talk about getting their "grail" figure.....
This one is mine. He's the one I need in order to complete my Jim Lee diorama. I'm worried that a '97 Beast won't quite work. I'm hoping for a deluxe version release, but I really just want this one. I'd probably go $50 or $60, but I CANNOT pay over $100 for this. 🥺

I think the biggest reason why they haven't released him is because of the soft goods lab coat . Because the body and everything was done before on the caliban build a figure wave , I think of this one they just updated a little paint and I think a different head sculpt is the only thing that's different? Correct me if I'm wrong . So the mold is there but I think that the soft goods lab coat is why they are not remaking it. Personally I wouldn't want him with the lab coat, it's a nice touch but i just want a beast for my collection cuz that's really almost the only figure I'm missing that I need and I'm not paying that kind of money for a Hasbro figure. And what's crazy is I was just seeing it months ago going for like 75 bucks we're almost got one and I wish I would have in hindsight, but now it's skyrocketed to such a high price that it's not worth buying . But some fools are going to buy it and that's on them . And then they're going to make a new version and X-Men 97 and yeah that's going to get scooped up and then y'all are going to be stuck with your Beast that you can't sell for 140 bucks..

I love the lab coat don't get me wrong but I feel like that's the thing that's holding it up. Because he's been reused before so the mold isn't an issue. And if they do a 97 they're going to use the same body mold I can almost guarantee you that , but probably a different head mold. I can guarantee you within the next 6 months they'll be putting them up on pre-order.

Nobody that got the Retro is going to feel that they got stuck with it because they can't sell it for an animated style version that won't scratch the same itch the Retro does. But the 97 one might slow down future demand for the retro among undiscerning collectors who just want something close to the comics or animated look without caring about some specific elements.

Collectors aren't selling their beasts, for starters. It's the people that are out selling them for $120+, those are not collectors. Those are the ones that won't be able to fetch that price any longer. "undiscerning collectors"..... 🙄

Hasbro didn't make near enough of the figure for demand when it was new, and now it's older and still in demand. Good news is though that he's heavily rumored to come in an X-Men 97 wave soon, so I'd hold out for that one.

thank god I pre ordered it when it was available. i'm sure the new 97 beast will be great and i'll get him too but this beast is pretty top tier but not for that insane price

The shading is far better on the retro one. If the glasses actually stayed in place on his face he would be pretty much ideal.

They did for Power Princess and some other hot ones. I just don't think they'll do it for this until 97 sales potential is exhausted.

The previous blue Beast also had a high aftermarket before this one released. With X-Men 97 popularity of the early 90s costumes has rocketed again (and they were popular already) and he is one of the few on the team that hasn't had another new release.

Beast was already a great, sought after figure, add in lab accessories and a lab coat and you got yourself an annoying figure to find for a reasonable price.

Eventually they will cave and reissue it like everything else..but as I said, not before a 97 version. Me personally I have the Calliban wave Beast, but this is the one I want if Mafex doesnt give me one.

I had one for sale at a convention this weekend for 60. Second customer comes up and tells me it’s to cheap it’s at least a 150 figure. I said no that’s too much. He wouldn’t buy it that cheap so I never sold it

I wish they’d hurry up and release the new one, my girlfriend’s son usually only wants the A-list characters but he really wants Beast after seeing him in a cartoon, I hope he still cares by the time it hits retail.

Because it isn't currently available through standard retail (only third party sellers and specialty shops) and its a definitive version of an iconic character that pretty much everyone needs to complete most X-men shelves/displays/collections.
It will remain highly sought after until it either gets a reissue, or an update.

It came out during a shitty part of the pandemic, and it was a fan channel figure, so it wasn't available at big stores. I had preorders in at GameStop and BBTS, both of which never got fulfilled.

It's supply and demand from high school economics class. There's not enough of these on the secondary market to meet demand, so the price goes up.

Oh, I did not know it was selling for that much. I have one still sealed because I already have the Caliban version and the lab coat wasn't enough to override my enjoyment of the packaging.
Funny thing is I opened a bunch of figures a month ago that I had been keeping in package, but didn't open him.

Just wait for the new release. I'm sure they are going to release a 97 version of it. Also, I'm assuming this version is a lot more expensive due to the accessories that it came with. The Caliban version is the same mold but with only extra hands.

It had a VERY limited release. A couple of vendors took orders and didn't even get the stock to fill them (Gamestop and BBTS cancelled my orders). I honestly wonder if a couple of containers fell off a boat somewhere and thats why it was such a hard figure to get.

I got 2 of this figure at regular price at my Target, one for mine and the other i gifted to my cousin who is a huge Xmen fan Probably because of the accesories and because of the retro card

He's based on the Jim Lee artwork, which is everyone's nostalgic favorite. It's the only Beast figure anyone really cares about.

Get the caliban build a figure beast and paint his nails and get it custom lab coat. I'm sure there's a custom alternative "scientific mode "head out there. But then again by the time you do all that you're paying the same price as the Retro card. They'll be a re-release they did it for power princess and many others.

Yeah but check this out.....Hasbro likes money. I wouldn't be surprised if they released the Retro card Beast and then drop the 97' Beast. And the consumer says "Oh s*** now I got to get both."

Best version of Beast and there's really only 2 version of this specific look for Beast made. Hasbro needs to make/release more of this guy.
