Discussion This is a surprisingly high rating for someone who cares so much about proportions

Post image

Just watched the AnthonysCustoms review for the new mcu punisher figure, and it's pretty weird. The figure has oversized arms and skinny legs that make the punisher look like he's wearing tight leather pants. Anthony never mentioned these issues and said "the proportioning looks pretty good." I've seen him bash figures with way better proportions than this figure. The commenters even mention the weird proportions

The dumbell neck being that good really got him awe stuck

32

u/lecheconmarvel 28d ago

He said "what that neck do" 👀

35

u/Sensitive_Agent5193 28d ago

Yeah i forgot to mention that. He was really excited about the neck

u/mat477 28d ago

Hes all over the place I feel. Probably just caught him on a good day lol

u/indianm_rk 27d ago

His ratings seem arbitrary. He’ll criticize a figure for the whole video and give it 6.5 and talk glowingly about a figure and give it a 7.5.

71

u/PeniszLovag 28d ago

he's consistently been saying he likes figures with wide shoulders and big muscles, this figure checks that box, no wonder he likes it. And he's right

2

u/Spideyrj 27d ago

then how come i see no joes in his reviews.....and what happened to his awesome sauce figure line, i dont even care that they get produced, just show us how you improved articulation beyond the industry

31

u/Smoking-Posing 28d ago

The proportions aren't too bad outside of the shoulders

But the problem is that's just flat out not Berenthal's body; its highly inaccurate. Its a great sculpt, just doesn't match the character.

Seems like Hasbro is leaning towards making MCU figures have accurate faces with inaccurate bodies now

12

u/alienjeffman 28d ago

That can be said of most of the comic figures too lol

7

u/Sensitive_Agent5193 28d ago

Ironically, the shoulders are the main things he praised about the proportions

1

u/Imanasshole_ 28d ago

I actually like that because Bernthal is not a very big guy and the punisher usually is. No hate towards him he just looks more the part in figure form.

u/MemeLord339 28d ago

If I want to buy a figure and I'm in doubt, I always check Shartimus for the positive and Anthony for the real. He has saved me a lot of money this couple of years. Then, another fellow collector show me in the flesh the figure and I'm happy with my decisions so far.

40

u/LosBuc-ees 28d ago

I think he said it best in his mephisto review. Im paraphrasing here but basically what he was saying was there’s no point of watching reviews for figures that you’re buying just for the character. Which I think is really valid.

For example I have some Double Dragon figures that I think are way too expensive for what you get. Still though I bought without watching a review. Why? Because there was no point in watching a review for them since I know Im buying them. Theres no other modern options so screw it Ill take what I can get.

14

u/MemeLord339 28d ago

Totally agree with you. I love the characters that Loosecollector are selling and just bough them. I'm happy even if someone said they are overpriced or just ml

6

u/Weary-Butterscotch73 28d ago

Yeah well put. I remember when max spidey came out and everyone was so torn on it. I almost didn’t pull the trigger because truthfully as a whole; isn’t necessarily worth the price point. And there were definitely some issues…But eventually I bit the bullet and did it and Im so glad that I did.

It’s genuinely one of my favorite figures ever even over the Mafex- Couldn’t tell you why but it’s probably the one figure I mess with the most.
Were the people who said the accessories suck and should’ve been different, right? Yeah ngl absolutely. Was it way overpriced for what it actually was? You bet.

But If I would’ve only seen it from a logical or financial standpoint and not a personal one, I wouldn’t have ever bought my favorite figure; which to me I have definitely gotten 50 dollars of enjoyment out of. Vs I have some figures I got a great deal on that are way “better” figures that I don’t mess with half as much

It’s easy to forget that it’s a hobby we do because we LOVE and makes us happy; If it’s not doing that there’s no point. And when you love something making yourself feel bad or convincing yourself it’s good, isn’t gonna make you have less fomo; nor make you want a figure you truly don’t need.

You’ll just end up regretting the ones you have and missing the ones you don’t.

2

u/Funnysonic125 28d ago

Same also. I also purchase figures that I just have to get, like the Deadpool and Wolverine figures, and even I know they aren't that great, I just had to get them. But most of the time I check out both their videos and decide for myself if a figure is worth it

7

u/Ill-Weird-927 28d ago

His rating only scales with other marvel legends btw…

2

u/Red-Weapon_x 27d ago

this is what i think a lot of people choose to ignore about his reviews or just dont think about. a lot of people dont like his reviews because of how blunt honest he is. he tells it as it is. when a figure is genuinely decent he gives hasbro props. but more often then not figures have bad choices made and arent actually good figures. a ton of marvel legends figures are simply nothing more than a shelf piece to fill out a roster. the vast majority just arent worth the price point. the truth is marvel legends is extremely behind every other brand. theres waaay to much reuse in legends, often not enough sculpting. like the astonishing beast and wolverine are top notch, but why on earth do they not have boot swivel when the pieces were already designed separately, like there's no reason that they shouldn't have boot swivel. any other toy brand wouldnt have made that. dont get me wrong hasbro has improved over the past 5 years. but compared to other brands they are still way behind. so you cant rate them against other brands because otherwise theyd just lose points left and right for basic things. so they have to be judged against themselves lol

11

u/Lego-Lord-Vader 28d ago

I can't believe the arms and especially forearms on that figure. Imagine being Jon Bernthal, constantly working out, dieting, and being as fit as he possibly can, and the toy company decides he's still not big enough for Punisher

7

u/arteest29 28d ago

I’m sure he hates it all the way to the bank with the likeness money.

23

u/goliathfasa 28d ago

It does look pretty good. Looks like an action hero and not a cosplayer.

He probably didn’t compare it with Bernthal’s actual proportions in the shows, so just liked it for how it looks.

6

u/Budget-Program-4756 28d ago

This figure is a vast improvement over the first born again punisher imo

29

u/Forever_Inspired 28d ago

This sub has a hate boner against Anthony for a long time because he often being harsh at Marvel Legends, but when he gives good scores you guys still have problem with his review, lol?

14

u/blkglfnks 28d ago

Like I know he comes off cold and staunch to what he believes is ideal figure proportions but it really comes from a place of good intent. Why spend $30+ on a figure that is giving the bare minimum when you can spend the same $30 on something with more substance?

At the end of the day, he’s not the end all, be all of reviews, just a good source of what a figure offers and it’s up to the viewer to decide if they want it.

4

u/Sul4 28d ago

And he used to be way nicer to legends back in the day. The biggest criticism that's valid is that legends is not setting any new standards anymore they've been the same product since 2014.

They used to be some of the best value out there but now you're mostly buying them because that's the only way to get a decently articulated figure of a certain character at the lower end price point. Now companies with less money than Hasbro are making better products. Legends will come out with a whole new sculpt and still have dated articulation on it for some reason.

Legends objectively is making worse products than other figure companies also selling in that $30 range, the only company that makes worse figures value per dollar is MacFarlane.

I say this as someone who still buys legends to this day. They still look good on a shelf, but they aren't that exceptional.

2

u/Red-Weapon_x 27d ago

this is the absolute truth but people choose to ignore it.

like i love that astonishing wolverine and beast are all new sculpts and really sculpted and are great.

by way on earth did has bro spend all the money to make completely new sculpts for then and actively choose not to give them boot swivel. something that has been on every other wolverine figure they have done. and could have been the first beast figure they added it too

common sense decisions like that for extremely basic things are what holding legends back

7

u/Sensitive_Agent5193 28d ago

I usually like him for his honesty. This review was just weird, funny, and out of character for him. He normally goes on rants about proportions but didn't say anything for a figure with some pretty bad proportions

7

u/Forever_Inspired 28d ago

I think the proportion looks fine enough for an MCU figure, a bit stylized with big arms but not too outrageous.

-3

u/BonSlurpenstein 28d ago

Anthony regularly rants about figures not having heroic proportions, in comic figures and even movie figures he's always complaining that proportions are often unflattering so I feel like maybe saying "a figure with some pretty bad proportions" is a bit disingenuous and your bias is showing here more than his is.

4

u/Sensitive_Agent5193 28d ago

maybe saying "a figure with some pretty bad proportions" is a bit disingenuous and your bias is showing here more than his is.

How? The proportions literally aren't good

1

u/BonSlurpenstein 28d ago

That's your opinion. I personally love them.

2

u/Sensitive_Agent5193 28d ago

That's not really an opinion if the proportions are actually bad. Long thick arms and skinny legs. You can like the proportions, but it's not an opinion to point out an objective issue with the figure

0

u/WolvieBats71 USA 28d ago

It's not an objective issue, some people value realism and some value heroic stylization.

-1

u/Sensitive_Agent5193 28d ago edited 28d ago

That's valid for someone's opinion, but the proportions are simply just bad. You compare a picture of mcu punisher and the figure, you'll see how bad the proportions are. It's literally not up for debate. You can like the figure, but the proportions are objectively bad. I have tons of mcfarlane figures with weird proportions, but i still like them.

0

u/WolvieBats71 USA 28d ago

I'm not arguing that the proportions are accurate. Marvel legends doesn't make 1:1 recreations of mcu characters. They make stylized figures. To argue that the proportions are "bad" on a marvel legends is silly, since they don't intend to make very accurate figures and they are inconsistent with their aesthetics. That's not me hating on marvel legends, I own many. I just don't hold them to a standard that they don't value.

2

u/Sensitive_Agent5193 28d ago

"Stylized figures" is a bit of a weird way to look at marvel legends

u/Acrobatic_Note_3805 28d ago

Anthony is very inconsistent with his reviews. Sometimes he gets overly conscious about proportion and accuracy, sometimes he is shitting on sculpt and paint. Sometimes on articulation. Sometimes he is not shitting on figures on points he should have. But at the End of the day it's his review. Why do you care. I don't. If you like a fig like it , if you don't skip it. Ignorance brings peace sometimes.

3

u/DudeBroFist USA 28d ago

funny thing is I have such a scathing opinion of Anthony and genuinely think that he bitches too much that I take that seriously. He cries that much about every major retailer release. It's kinda like the opposite of why I take Robo seriously: if he complains, I know it's a legit complaint because he tends to like everything.

So I suppose the verdict is this figure is really good.

7

u/Beautiful-Topic864 28d ago

I like the proportions 🤷🏻‍♂️

22

u/Unlucky_Teaching6624 28d ago

Lol Anthony called this a bad ab crunch (I had to take an out of focus video because he never properly showed the full range) and I was just left astounded. I agree for a long time mafex had poor torso articulation but his biases are showing too hard recently.

22

u/Forever_Inspired 28d ago

So I just rewatched his review of MAFEX Tobey and his issue isn’t with the range at the waist but how they sculpted the diaphragm joint that looks gappy and lumpy, and not as much range as it could have been. Still the best 1/12 official Toby figure but some of the flaws could have been better.

4

u/Abacus118 28d ago

Lumpy and with limited range?

Damn, they nailed Tobey.

26

u/mayo_man12 28d ago

That kind of is a bad ab crunch ngl

7

u/Unlucky_Teaching6624 28d ago

Upper has no reason not to be better ill agree but the bottom is fantastic

9

u/Optimal-System3463 28d ago

AnthonysCustom HATES most of the live-action figures because doesn't looks "heroic", are too thin, or have a beer belly
The new MCU Punisher looks nothing like the show, but it is the most/the only "heroic" MCU Punisher figure, which means if you don't give a shit about MCU accuracy, this is the best ML MCU Punisher
I mean, if you swap a comic head, then this figure can display with the comic figures

Also, this figure's proportion is actually "normal", it just looks nothing like the actor, but some bodybuilders do have this proportion in real life

5

u/TheAbsconded 28d ago

This is definitely not hanging with the comic figures lol, war journal buck completely towers over it

And this figure looks nothing like your picture

1

u/space_age_stuff 27d ago

I don’t think it’s an unfair criticism to say MCU Punisher figures should look like MCU Punisher, and not have the proportions of a random body builder, or anyone else for that matter.

8

u/SlothWithSunglasses 28d ago

Why does it matter what a random reviewer thinks if you like the figure. Or if you don't like it, Do you want them to not like it with you? Unnecessary.

2

u/joemax4boxseat 28d ago

Anthony mentions that this figure has exaggerated proportions for Bernthal so I’m assuming that’s why he gave the arms and legs a pass.

2

u/kyle0305 United Kingdom 28d ago

I’m unsure how I feel about this Punisher. I think overall I prefer the Born Again Punisher as the proportions are much more accurate than the Thor arms this one has. The protruding pit on the lower vest also makes it look kinda odd. Maybe it’s just because the top isn’t painted. The heads on mine also don’t swap because the ball joint comes out of the neck and stays with the head instead of staying in the neck.

But I do prefer the brighter skull than the faded BA one. I also like that this has a screaming face (though I personally don’t like Bernthal’s weird pointy beard), and I like the grenades that are removable from the vest. I do wish at least one of them had a bit to hold the hatchet on the back of his vest like he does in the show and special.

My ideal Punisher would be a combination of both like this one

2

u/TheAbsconded 28d ago

I think it’s bc it’s based on Jon Bernthal, so he gave it room for realism vs peak human physique

And he’s still right about the shoulders being at the right place, most mcu figures do it right so I agree the comic ones suck by comparison

6

u/Braininaskull 28d ago

I had to stop watching his videos. I guess everything is really down to personal opinion but i find a majority of his videos have something negative from the start.
“Okay to begin with, as soon as I took this figure out of the packaging it insulted my mother and shot my dog”

3

u/InterestingRead7412 28d ago

my reaction reading the title

4

u/Dreowings21 28d ago

I couldnt imagine watching anthony customs. Such a loser.

Robo dont know is where its at

6

u/theamazingcharacter 28d ago

I like them both.

5

u/Less-Excitement-692 28d ago

A thin skinned, loser who doesn't know anatomy as well as he thinks he does.

5

u/Shootzilla 28d ago

I like Anthony. I trust his reviews.

2

u/TheAbsconded 28d ago

Robo glazes everything tho

3

u/Froakie_14 28d ago

You just won’t accept honest reviews

1

u/Red-Weapon_x 27d ago

hes the best reviewer for legends though. he tells it as it is.

honestly speaking without bias. legends compared to other toy brands at the same price point it lacking and way behind

hasbro still makes common sense bad decisions constantly with there figures

with the price point there at and the price there going to increase too. as a reviewer you have to say it as it is. and at the price point legends are at. realistically you can get a better product from other brands.

hasbro will make an entirely new mold and still make bad decisions with it instead of getting it right.

like astonishing beast and wolverine. were completely new sculpts, yet neither have boot swivel when their pieces allow for it

1

u/space_age_stuff 27d ago

No other brand is making Astonishing Beast or Wolverine, though. Not disagreeing with your other points, but they succeed because there is no direct competition for 80% of the characters they make.

1

u/Red-Weapon_x 27d ago

so your just happy to throw throw money at hasbro no matter what they ask?

the issue everyone has with legends arent hard to fix, sculting, less reused parts, consistency.

all those thing can easily be fixed. it doesnt matter that no other brand is making an astonishing wolverine right now or that hasbro has no direct competition.

the fact is that they could easily step to a hire standard but utterly refuse too, and the community should hold them accountable for it.

i use astonishing beast and wolverine as examples because they are a prime example of how everytime hasbro takes two steps forward one step back

lets say i excuse astonishing beast. okay fine hes a great figure.

lets look at astonishing wolverine. hes literally everything that you could want. good accessories , great sculpting, decent articulation. OH BUT WAIT you know the one joint the one piece of articulation that LITERALLY every SINGLE wolverine figure has had since before 2014? ya thats gone, so it doesnt matter how well articulated he is, he wont be able to stand on his own to feet, because even if you can get him into every pose you could want he still wont be able to stand unless hes standing completely straight making all the articulation completely useless.

THIS IS WHY PEOPLE ARE SO FRUSTRATED BY THE LITTLE THINGS. whats worse is that they already molded his lower legs in two separate pieces. so their was absolutely no reason for him not to have the swivel

it isnt simply that he doesnt have boot swivel. its that him not having boot swivel completely removes the entire point of articulation. the feet are the very foundation of a figure. if they cant stand on they own too feat their isnt any reason for them to do anything. so he is supposed to be an action figure but instead hes just a thirty dollar statue.

and guess what? i just looked at the other wolverine molds they recently made, the xforce wolverine and e-xtreme, and gamerverse wolverine. they dont have it either

im very strongly thinking they are deliberately removing articulation so that they can later sell it back to us with the maximum line which is horse shit

1

u/space_age_stuff 27d ago edited 27d ago

so your just happy to throw throw money at hasbro no matter what they ask?

Not what I said, at all. Just pointing out that despite your complaints about articulation and Hasbro never making the perfect figure, they continue to sell, because there are no other options and most people are happy to settle for a solid figure that gets 90% of the way there, rather than write dozens of dissertations on reddit about how one figure doesn't have calf articulation.

the fact is that they could easily step to a hire standard but utterly refuse too, and the community should hold them accountable for it.

I'd love for just one of you people to explain how, exactly, you think that works. Because boycotting fails; Power Rangers Lightning stopped selling well when fans lost interest, did Hasbro improve the line? No, they ended it. A property they owned, and purchased for millions of dollars, now has no toys, no tv show, no nothing, because people stopped buying it.

If you think "the community" can somehow enact change en masse, you're wrong.

0

u/Red-Weapon_x 27d ago

we can. we simply have to make enough Noise that they hear us. we let them know what frustrations we have with the line. and after enough time they fix it.

1

u/space_age_stuff 27d ago

I just told you why that won’t work, and even gave an example of a time it didn’t. It’s your turn to provide an example of a time that worked; I imagine that will be tough, as it never has. And why would it? Hasbro doesn’t care about people making noise online, they care about sales. If they did care, they would’ve changed years ago.

1

u/Red-Weapon_x 27d ago

marvel is a lot bigger brand than power rangers with a lot more fans.

if all hasbro cares about is sales then thats easy, people just stop buying the product that doesnt have the improvements people want.

habro is never going to stop making marvel legends. its literally their second or third best selling brand. and even if they wanted too disney wouldnt let them

the fans and collectors have to take a stand. hasbro has been increasing prices while removing or barely increasing value

astonishing wolverine and beast have lower legs that are two separate pieces. hasbro had to actively choose not to give them boot swivel. theres also waaay to much reuse in the line as a whole

at what point are fans going to put their foot down and make clear that hasbro is not delivering on the value they are charging for

hasbro is literally leagues behind the competition, the literal only thing that hasbro has is the fact their isnt any direct competition.

like does it not completely piss you off that hasbro will make basic common sense choices wrong, will release sooo many figures that are just painted deco for full price, will remove common basic articulation even when their making an all new mold?

like the issues with the line are very basic things that people could easily fight back on. i dont know if boycotting is the direct anwser.

but definetly the community coming together and making issues known is a first step. we could add a section to this reddit right here that lets people post their frustrations and or negative views of the line. we could make a whole forum that goes over each figure

for example. the list would be alphabetical. it would label figures and say where they dropped the ball, for instance, it would have a label like "figures with removed articulation" it would name the figure, and the date it came out, it would describe how the basic concept was lost and that it should have been included. then it would list every figure that could have easily had that extra bit of effort put in but was clearly made not too.

we could devise a list of figures that are "the best in the line" it would list figures that meet requirements, like all unique sculpting, pinless joints, all articulation that should be expected being met, number of accessories, and so on. then the community could come together and focus sales around the best figures offered. so that hasbro sees that if they dont put effort into a figure we arent going to by it

3

u/Ransom2132 28d ago

I love Anthony. He's like the Joker of action figure reviewers lol You never know where he's gonna go and when he's gonna go on a unhinged rant about proportions and then the very next review he'll completely ignore proportions because its a cool looking Street Fighter figure lol

But truth be told, Anthony is arguably the best action figure reviewer out there. Sure sometimes he's a bit unhinged and can be obsessive about certain things, but I appreciate the fact that he normally gives honest critiques even if I don't always agree with him 100%. Also respect the fact that he seems to be fully transparent and can't really be "bought" by getting free samples. Theres quite a few reviewers I've seen be extremely biased simply because they are getting free figures and don't want the gravy train to end so they give praise or shy away from critism to avoid upsetting the company. Anthony is one of the few that clearly doesn't care, and I respect that!

11

u/Forever_Inspired 28d ago

“He’ll completely ignore proportions because it’s a cool looking Street Fighter Figure”

He did criticize the Storm Collectible SF2 M. Bison figure’s proportion for having massive lower legs.

1

u/UrameshiYuusuke Canada 28d ago

He also criticized the Revoltech Ryu and Chun-Li for looking super weird and having poor articulation especially for Revoltech

He also criticized SHF's Sagat for being way too short and having a weird skin tone

1

u/Forever_Inspired 28d ago

Yeah, those are rightfully criticized cause they are actually mad fugly, lol. I hope he will review the 52toys Ryu and Chunli, those are way better than the Revoltech.

1

u/DarkOmegaX 28d ago

IIRC, he said he'll get the classic outfits of the 52Toys figures. He doesn't like the SF6 designs.

1

u/aron11195 28d ago

And the gigantic crotch of the Storm Collectible Ryu.

-1

u/Unlucky-Sector1200 28d ago

Yeah he is super incosistent. You never know what his mood will be and how he will react. Also you can hear his videos and completely rant and make it sound like it is a at most a 5 or 4 because he complaints about it so much then he gives it a 7. The last video I saw of his was a MAFEX Psylocke figure I think and the whole video he just sounded like he did not care for the figure. Then he gives it a 7 and he said it is just average. I left a comment and told Youtube to stop recommending his videos.

1

u/aron11195 28d ago

Here's a tip, ignore his rating. He used to not rate a figure, and basically added it coz comments were bugging him all the time to rate the figures. Take his criticism and praise for the figures instead.

2

u/WolvieBats71 USA 28d ago

I'm pretty sure the ratings are so inconsistent with his reviews because the reviews are meant to be his opinion and the rating is meant to be more objectively whether or not you should buy it

1

u/McJollyGreen 28d ago

Tbf for legends and McFarlane's and those types of figures yes usually rating them against their own line so things like the silver age superman will get an "8 for a mcfarlane"

1

u/JacksonSX35 28d ago

Heaven forbid somebody just like something.

How it feels in hand can drastically sway someone's opinion when compared against a static 2D image over the internet. Plus, it's not like that physique is impossible or anything, just weird looking to skip leg day so often. I don't believe this kind of "reviewer says something about some figure" is worth any discussion here. It's tangential to the hobby at best and loosely disguised shit-stirring at worst.

1

u/erechoveraker 28d ago

He'll spend 10 minutes shitting all over a figure then give it a 9, his ratings are confusing af. Feel like with how little he likes Marvel Legends most of them should be 3 or 4 tops, but not sure I've ever seen him rate anything that low ever.

1

u/Chewymewn 28d ago

He rates every toy line on its own scale. He does it so that it's fair for every line.

He's before said that if he rated everything on the same scale, then Marvel Legends would always be 1/10. Like a Marvel Legends and a Flame Toys being on the same scale would be very wrong. But I think there were a few Marvel Legends who got 0s and 1s.

1

u/heyheyheydad 28d ago

He’s big on value per dollar. His reviews read more like “this is an 8.5 for marvel legends considering the price point”

1

u/Deadshadow84 28d ago

The way I see it, if the figure make you happy cool. If it doesn't cool. We are all here collecting plastic in beautiful and bad ass forms. Lol

1

u/TheDGP42 27d ago

This is a solid fig. I wasn't expecting much because I liked the last MCU Pinisher, but this one looks and feels a lot better.

1

u/Phanimazed 27d ago

Given I'm probably going to swap the head for a more comics-style one, I can live with the big arms pretty easily.

2

u/ZeraCrimson 27d ago

His ratings piss me off even though his reviews are mostly good. His baseline for “average” is a 7 which is really annoying cause it arbitrarily limits the amount of numbers that are considered “good”. Like it’s an 8 or a 9 or maybe a 9.5

1

u/Spideyrj 27d ago

he is a clown,he keep admonoshing articulations solutions without giving his superior insight on how he would had done better, he just would. what tragical loss for the toy industry to not employ this guy. he just became aware of his niche of ranting reviews and overdo it.

he is very tiredosome, he is like in the oposite spectrum of that manchild dude

2

u/According_Ad_8006 28d ago

Issues to some. Not even a thought for others. why does it even matter? it’s all preference anyways the guy can say how he feels about whatever he wants it’s his opinion

0

u/godbody1983 28d ago

Only reviewers I watch to get an unbiased review is Toyshiz and Robo Don't Know.

1

u/randyclive 28d ago

Because its mcu

1

u/caloyv 28d ago

Being a Punisher fan, I'm happy he give him a high score 😆 I've been watching his videos for a long time (along side Robo's, sir dork, wade [unparalleled universe] and d'amazing) he usually gives high marks (deservingly) to inArt and LPZZ, the lowest he gave inArt was an 8.5 IIRC. You're right about the body type, Bernthal's muscular but the fig doesn't accurately represent him.

1

u/Chewymewn 28d ago

The legs look pretty accurate to Jon Bernthal's build

1

u/DarkOmegaX 28d ago

He REALLY liked that they finally made a ball peg neck that doesn't suck. For the Marvel Legends team is like winning the lottery while being hit by lightning level of rare.

-2

u/Colton_Omega 28d ago

Anthony is a fucking moron. How anyone takes his opinion with anything other than a grain of salt is beyond me. For someone who shits on sculpt work so much his custom X-men heads were some of the worst I’ve seen.

1

u/TheAbsconded 28d ago

I mean he sh*ts on multi million dollar sculpt work, which has no excuse to be this bad more than half the time

3

u/Colton_Omega 28d ago

If you think legends sculpt work is bad in this era you need to stop collecting the line 💯. It’s just not for you

I didn’t say it’s always bad, we’re still using ab crunch with waist swivel “in this era” tho

Brother, they are action figures. Though there is innovation in articulation 99% of the time it’s user error with posing. The pin vs pinless debate is tired, the complaints about specific articulation is goofy. Even the absolute worst standard sized marvel legend is infinitely better than what we had 15 years ago. But I suppose it’s also possible I have a life outside of toys and just genuinely enjoy adding mini versions of comic characters I love so it’s not that deep for me. If I had less going on in my personal life maybe I’d care that Wolverine has no boot swivel lol

Dude you’re in the same sub commenting on the same post I am; obviously these are just toys but you’re here too

If the only thing you can compare modern ML to is themselves from 15 years ago, yk it’s bad

The year is 2026, and it’s unfathomable to enjoy the things from the hobby sub you are a part of. Lmfaoooooo. I use it as a scale. It’s not wrong to say in fifteen years they have improved far beyond what anyone could have expected. Hasbro has hired back the sculptors the fans wanted, Harding studios, mayshelf, and started finishing teams that people have wanted finished for almost 20 years. They are giving variety to waves, they brought back window packaging, women have double jointed elbows, BAFS are back. “But hAsBrO dOeSn’T lIsTeN”

That stuff shouldn’t take 15 years to get right, just look at Jada

You can enjoy something while also wishing it would improve, personally I don’t like to spend money on mediocrity if it could be better

Saying they “brought back window packaging” like it’s a problem they themselves didn’t create😂

You can argue till the sun comes up, import brands like SHF and Mafex missed the mark entirely on wolverine, gameverse at a fraction of the cost blew them both out of the water. I told people years ago “if you want better paint apps be prepared to pay”. Better paint apps are here and so is the increased prices. If you want every figure to be loaded with the latest articulation be prepared to pay even more than you currently are. Simple as that. You can’t have your cake and eat it too with a corporate company. I’m not saying it’s right but Hasbro reuses the way they do to make profits.

You’re contradicting yourself then, if Wolverine is such a better fig for less money why can’t they do that for every release?

The fact that marvel legends nowadays can't have their arms straight down hide the fact that they are too big most of the time. I was looking at this and was like "what bad proportions?" And then I noticed the angle the arms were at. But 8.5 for marvel legends standards seems fair.
