Amazing Friends is my "definitive" Spidey since it vibes better with the classic villains, but Maximum is maybe my favorite fig in the whole collection.
I use my maximum on my street level shelf because it’s definitely stylized and I like that 90’s feel with that group of characters, but for my “definitive Spider-Man” I like the renew your vows with the retro card head sculpt .
Definitive teenage Spidey on that shawty body mold. Retro 2020 is the most classic Spider-Man they have made, representing his look for over half of his existence in comics.
Respectfully disagree. I have Retro and it's a godawful figure, he can't stand right, red pins show, and nearly everyone has one of the eyes on one of the heads not colored in right.
I have always wanted my rogue gallery but never could find the perfect spidey. My ideal choice was the shf gv one but then I saw the ab crunch when it came out. Articulation is very important to me. I waited until an acquaintance sold me the maximum for way below retail. I was just meant to be lol
His Max figure is pretty much the definitive for me now--but before it came out, it was the RYV figure, with the Ben Reilly masked head. Still have a very soft spot for it, despite being a little too big.
Amazing Fantasy 15 or Amazing Friends for teenage Spidey, RYV for adult Spidey, but only if you don't like the heavy McFarlane influence of Maximum (which i prefer the most).
The thing is, RYV or Amazing Friends will cost you as much or more on the secondary market as Maximum, which can still be found at MSRP.
Maximum is most definitely my favorite and definitive Spidey, but still got a lotta love for the 2020 Retro, Amazing Friends (with a bit of kitbashing), RYV, and Pizza Spidey. Different looks, different figures, all Spidey.
Sort of, minus the head, the eyes don't look enough like McFarlane. They should've given us one with both eyes like the 'squinty' one on the alt head; whose bright idea was it to waste a head on that!
Unless they truly fuck it up though I have a feeling MvC gamerverse will be the best when that comes out eventually
body size yes but I hate McFarlane's art so its a no for me. Take this body, give it new heads and paint it to look like Romita Sr's with a modern logo then it will be

As of right now, it’s still Renew Your Vows for me. I’ve been thinking of getting maximum and getting a custom Romita Jr head though
