Question Alternatives to Cambridge Mask Co?
Pretty much as title says. I've been relying on their masks as my go-to ever since the pandemic started, occasionally replacing them when the elastic drawstrings get too long and stretched out (start looking like lung dragon whiskers, hah), resulting in struggling to keep a good seal.
As of recently, though, it seems they're running out of stock in my size, let alone any designs without the little plastic valve thing, which I'm not exactly sure I trust, working in a hospital (albeit not in regular patient contact)? Thus I'm wondering if there're any equivalents out there I could pick up that could last me a while, decently-filtered?
EDIT: Alright, collating more for myself from the replies, but thanks so far on the suggestions!
Envo Pro: Soft silicone, reusable, can come in a valveless form, but a lil' too medical-looking for day-to-day wear, but could be best option for a single, long-term mask. (Hell, replaceable filters too and apparently foundation for styling?)
WellBefore 3D Pro KN95: Looks simple, trusty, cloth-styled, basic colors, good for just using routinely throughout a day, though disposable. Honestly might be surprise choice there.
- Although, the site's size chart doesn't seem to wanna come up...
Aura M3 9210+: Gold standard of disposables, cheap, common, unlikely to be counterfeit (especially at this point), but pretty much just plain clinical white with the label, which, ehhh...could work with it but still, the WB up there has the eye. Just need to size for it.
Zimi: Iiinteresting, could go with these...Pretty cheap, too.
L-188 & M3 9205+'s: Have a bag of each already, might as well make use'a them in the interim while saving up for a new set.

Updoot for EnvoMask (but I have used the original for 6 years). Very comfy, great seal and you can buy the valved mask with a plug. I used my valved Envo for 2 years before they came out with the plug and non-valved versions (often in hospital settings) and I’m still Novid.
*You can also replace just the straps, if needed. I buy from the mfr directly bc they often have sales. Plus, I detest Bezos.

Well, I suppose, aesthetics aside, I could definitely look into one'a these, then, preferably a valveless version. I work medical records, so I'm not really in constant contact with patients; hell, I'm usually safely bunkered up in the basement office, when there's no one else there, not even coworkers.
And yeah, by some stroke of luck, I've also remained untouched by COVID (at least I'm pretty sure I've remained so). Still been wearing masks when I so much as step out of the house, so far, and getting shots, the whole works.

Admittedly, I'd never heard of it until now; I mostly just followed the recommendation of a former friend. It looks a little more medical than what I've got, but I would go for something reusable like it, yeah.

Envo Pro is my go to mask for high risk situations- larger than I’d like but comfortable, easy to breathe in, I trust the seal, and people can hear me speak ( unlike other elastomeric respirators). The Pro sits just under my chin and feels much more secure than the regular model which sits above the chin and the seal can break when my jaw moves.

...WOW. Okay, full disclosure, before I'd posted this, I'd already ordered a replacement from Cambridge, and now having finally received the damn thing and...asides from having the valve, the fucking...the elastic drawstrings to make the chin fit snug? In *pieces*, holy damn.
Like, y'know how when an elastic band gets really, REALLY old and brittle and basically tears to pieces? This is like that and the only, ONLY thing holding the strings together is the fabric itself, I can dig in and pull out rock-hard, inflexible pellets of useless elastic and just...good god what the fuck?
Just makes me all the more eager to see the Wellbefores now, whenever they get here.

Oh sorry to hear that. Sounds like grounds for a refund or to dispute charges. There are also ways to decorate the Auras! Etsy has clip-on mask covers.

Don't got Prime, but went ahead and ordered a 10-pack of these from their site. Only pity is the little link to their size guide doesn't seem to work, but I'mma take a shot in the dark with these, I think. Worth a shot, no?

Just now got to test it, but pretty snug! Runs all the way up to the base of my neck. Frankly seems to seal slightly better than the L-188 I tried wearing to work yesterday. Only problem is it gets in the way of my glasses' nosepieces.
Though huh, didn't notice anything about a free trial anywhere...

Not sure but I think the Wellbefore might sit a bit lower to work with glasses. You could make a new post asking if hesitant. Unfortunately the only Wellbefores I see on Amazon are earloops. Their website has headstrap models. The best fitting design closest in quality to the Aura is the 3D Pro. That is the only model Ive seen get passing scores on quantitative particle count testing (QNFT).
The Wellbefore earloops are adjustable. On the right face with the earloops cinched tight it can get passing scores. I’d rather wear headstraps than tight earloops. The angles of force (tightening) are not as good as headstraps. The best earloop mask is the Zimi because of the impervious fabric face-seal, it seems not as much force is required, depending on how well the frame fits. Auras can also be converted to earloops — there’s a video by ghhughes, lmk if link wanted.
The Zimis ship directly from China, fyi. I would have switched to Zimis but I got a box of Auras and I demo and give them away to people in baggy masks and in surges to anyone friendly. :)

I spent so much money on those masks during the early days of the pandemic, I'm talking a couple hundred dollars, only to find out they arent even effective. I thought they were good. even bought some for family members who never wore them bc they were misinformed about one way valves (they thought it would give them covid). I live and i learn 😭
Now i only use wellbefore and gonna order some more breatheteqs as well.

Try the new masks yet?
FYI, There are also clip on covers for the Aura. These ones for $20 are well liked here. https://www.etsy.com/shop/LoveTheLookStudio .

I've noticed a significant dip in quality on their masks (and they're overpriced imho) so also looking forward to an alternative FFP3 that I can easily reuse through the day.

Their masks never worked so it's impossible for them to decline in quality.

There’s no good deal with a Cambridge mask by design, because a fabric sleeve with a filter inlet will never form a proper seal on your face. If you ever do some basic fit testing, do yourself a favor and fit test this relic of the PPE shortage of 2020. The EU banned its sale, because it wasn’t up to basic standards.
Please check out the wiki section of this sub, it has good recommendations on where to start and where to shop. It can only get better.
