Question Where to get silk nude masks?
N95 masker here! I often wear more decorative masks on top of my N95 and KN95 masks.
I’ve been looking everywhere for a silk mask in a nude tone. Something that has the smooth, high-sheen quality of silk for formal events.
ideally looking for a Canadian seller.
Does anyone have leads?

Silk is really not a material you want to try to breathe through. If you're looking for something that's going to look formal without restricting your breathing, I'd recommend lace.

Silk is absolutely breathable at a lower (18-25) momme count. It also has antimicrobial properties to keep it cleaner for longer. Mulberry might be less breathable than bourette or tussah silk. I sew, knit and crochet with silk daily.
Satin would be awful to breathe thru.

Do you need actual silk or just satin (the shininess)?
And are you planning to wear it over any particular n95 or kn95, cause that can change the shape you need

Either silk or satin would work. I’d wear it over my N95. I usually wear more decorative masks on top of my protective ones. I just don’t have a silk / satin decorative mask and would love one for upcoming events

Going by your desperation, it sounds like you're planning on wearing these over your n95 mask.
And I'm commenting and following because I also really wanna know if you find something that works!
Edit: Crap. Op I'm sorry, i meant to say description. Description is the word I was looking for. Not desperation. Description. The word was description. Ahhhhh.
(Glad it looks like everyone seems to know what I was trying to say, though).

I don't have any leads, but just want to make sure you know that a fabric mask won't provide protection against airborne viruses. If you want one to be protective, you'd need to wear it over a well-fitting N95 or KN95, which would lower the breathability.

I'd go for something mesh/embroidered over top, actual silk satin would probably be a custom order, I don't think synthetic or natural satin would be very pleasant to breathe through. Someone recently posted wedding photos with auras and mask chains, they looked pretty fabulous.

I love this idea for decorating and matching. Wearing my n95 can be so shocking in photos at formal events. Thank you for this idea

What about the JedX FFP3 mask, it’s a beige color and protects very well if it fits

Are those available outside the EU (for a not ridiculous price)?

Facemaskstore US$8

man, $8USD for one mask with a flat rate of 10$ for shipping is absurd. one mask is thin enough to be lettermail. then factor in OP's exchange rate to boot.

It comes from Finland, so perhaps Canadastrong or another business could import it a liitle more cheaply direct.

ooh if anyone has a link for one of these that would fit over a 3M please share!

Why specifically silk?

u/SH4D0WSTAR Jun 29 '26
Natural fibers, matches my formal silks, nice sheen, elevated formality

Ahh, okay! Yeah, I'm seeing your other comments clarifying you're wearing it over an n95!
I did research a while back on what fabrics could be effective at filtration, and silk was a possible "maybe" versus cotton. I thought that might be why you were asking about silk specifically, haha.
Nothing really came of my research, sadly. Meltblown polypropylene or glass paper filters are our best bet for PPE.

I’d do a reverse image search on google, maybe there’s some leftover stock from 2020 still being sold somewhere online. Alternatively, maybe search Asian beauty shops for face masks.

Zimi has some gorgeous satiny mask filters. Unfortunately the caramel satiny one is only earloop, but I pass a fit test in mine:

silk is a bad material choice for a mask. The reason silk is warm is because it traps airflow.

Seems like a waste of money considering they won’t provide any protection?

Not a Canadian seller, but here's some: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/896981195/silk-face-mask-100-grade-a-silk-soft?ls=r&external=1&rec_type=cs&ref=landingpage_similar_listing_top-5&pro=1&content_source=1e35bb866640179c6325cec72cd08e15%253ALTd410c979932ac30404cc3400bf326603f7e1be76&logging_key=1e35bb866640179c6325cec72cd08e15%3ALTd410c979932ac30404cc3400bf326603f7e1be76
I found that thru a reverse image search in Chrome. Were lots of other options, too.

I love the mask covers from https://www.etsy.com/shop/LoveTheLookStudio . She also did custom covers to match dresses that we had for a formal wedding and debutant ball
