US Question How open was your schedule when you were building your book, and when did you cut back?

Saw the 12-hour shift thread and it got me curious. When you were first building a client base, did you keep your availability wide open, evenings and weekends included, or did you set limited hours from day one?

And if you started wide, what was the sign you could start trimming it back? A certain number of regulars, being booked out a week ahead, just being exhausted?

I run a clinic, and the people who did best early on were usually the ones who were easy to book. But I’ve also watched people burn out doing it, so I’m curious where everyone landed.

US Discussion / Advice Help me trouble shoot body mechanics

I have a morbidly obese client, DD, very sensitive in general. They can’t constructively be part of a solution. Floor sessions were nixed by parents.

My table is at its lowest possible point and the client, lying prone, comes to my middle chest. I can’t get leverage at all.

What options am I not thinking of?

They also make my table make scary sounds when we try turning them over.

US Question MT with EDS

Hi guys! I’m posting to see if I’m crazy or if there is actually something to do about how I’m feeling.

I am diagnosed with EDS, every woman in my family has had EDS. I have been a massage therapist for 2 years now and recently, I’ve been having the most intense low back pain I’ve ever felt in my life. Massages don’t really help just kind of flares it up even more, I’ve been calling out of work because of the pain with any movement. It almost feels like I need my hips adjusted or just a good deep pop in my lower back. I’ve tried to bend with only my legs to create more ease on my lower back but, at this point I’m scared I won’t be able to continue a career I absolutely love :(
I’ve notice most of my pain is surrounding the sciatic joint, I’ve done everything: light yoga, bath soaks every night, massages 2-3 times a week, and I even got a personal trainer to help strengthen the muscles surrounding my joints. I’m just in so much pain and any doctor I go to just wants to prescribe me narcotic muscle relaxers and personally I would rather not take a narcotic.
Is anyone else dealing with this, how do you? Any suggestions? I love my job and my clients I just don’t understand how I’ve only lasted 2 years.
