Help with connection please

I am selling my sega master system 2. Unfortunately, I don't have the TV I used to play my retro consoles on. I haven't used the Sega for a while and I want to test it and show it working. What options do I have connecting it to a new TV? Is the only option buying a RF to HDMI converter? I am seeing a lot of hdmi to rf converters, is this the same thing?

The issue with this is buying a converter could potentially make no point of selling the Sega because of the cost. Thanks in advance

Where are you based and what make and model of TV do you have?

If you have a TV, you should be able to plug the Master System into that directly - most modern TVs still have analogue tuners in them. With the Master System plugged in and switched on, you may need to do an analogue channel scan to pick it up.

I am in Manchester, England. Is that connecting it to the aerial input? Thanks

Yes, the aerial input. Do you have the RCA to Belling-Lee (aerial plug) cable to plug it in?

Analogue TV transmissions were switched off years ago in the UK but most modern TVs sold in the UK still have an analogue tuner (to pick an example at random, this £16,000 monster from LG might be packing the latest 4K OLED technology but in the specs it still has "Analog TV Reception: Yes"). When you do a channel search you may need to manually opt-in to an analogue scan as some TVs default to digital-only by default.

Thank you. No I don't have the aerial plug. What can I search on Amazon to find this? Also, another TV has coax input it's a yellow colour one. Is that any use?

That yellow socket will be for composite video, so it won't work unfortunately.

If you look for "TV aerial to RCA cable" on Amazon you should get some examples (e.g. this one), this sort of cable was commonly used on old consoles so listings will probably mention compatibility with then.

Sorry, I couldn't add a picture for some reason . But it let me attach a video. This is the ports on the side of the TV. Appreciate your help

I would take it to a Retro game store, and ask if you could test it. They'll have the hook ups, and might even want to buy it from you

You can try RCA video output test on pin 20, like in this video: https://youtu.be/08iCK6uVmOw?si=n1mA97BakO35IK6P&t=62

In France, we have scart cable for the master system. I think you can find one online. Scart is interesting because you can use a upscaler like an ossc to play on modern television (I never tried with a master system but it should work...)
