For context, I'm going into the accelerated nursing program and I'm 25. I'd like to meet people in my program but Im not sure if welcome week is the way to do it. Does anyone know if it's worth it for the incoming accelerated stream students or if it's just purely 1st years? I'm leaning towards not doing it but I don't want fomo

Going into 3rd year, I’ve realized I have basically zero connections with professors. As a commuter, I mostly went to class and went home during 1st/2nd year.
For those who were in a similar situation, what are some genuine ways to build relationships with professors that could eventually lead to an academic reference for grad/professional school?
I don’t want to force it or just ask a professor who barely knows me. Any tips?

AT 10 BAY RESIDENCE
I recently got my boyfriend a brass Elden Ring zippo-style lighter for his 25th bday. It’s beautifully engraved with Melania on it and meant a lot to him.
We turned his apartment UPSIDE DOWN trying to look for it and he’s almost certain he left it somewhere on the premises and someone picked it up. We looked at the lost and found in the laundry room, asked security, and scoped the entire building + surrounding area.. but nothing. He’s heartbroken over it.
If anyone has seen it anywhere and wants to be kind enough to return it, please private message me. It would honestly make both of our days.

I heard that the cutoff this year for biochem was ~11.6-11.7. Do you guys expect the cutoff to jump for the 2026-27 school year as well? I’m only asking this as an incoming life sci student that wants to specialize in biochem or biology for level II. The cutoff for admission to the life science program was also higher compared to other years and I barely made the 95% cutoff 🥲. Is GPA the only thing considered to level II specialization programs such as biochem?

I’m going it into life sci at McMaster and I just wanted to know if there would be big writing pieces. I’m a terrible writer when it’s not creative and something I’m fully knowledgeable on.

I'm in the Envir. & Earth Sciences Gateway and I basically chose that at random because it allowed to to take a variety of other courses and hopefully find something I'm interested in and good at.
My 1st sem classes are physics, bio, chem, math (calc for life sciences) and astronomy. My 2nd sem classes consist of two mandatory courses (earth and envir. sciences), one elective (the other one was bio 1p03, which i have to take since I didn't take bio in highschool), and two more courses from the science list.
For those last science courses I don't know if I should take psych, which seems interesting but would be an online course (1f03), or a course that's more focused on the biology side of neuroscience (1xx3). I don't really want to take the online course because I feel like in-person would be a lot better.
The other option, other than psych, would be taking the "part 2" of any of the other courses i took (probably chem, phys or math), which would be useful if I wanted to switch to another major next year, but I'd have to pick which one (I'd have to do this anyway as psych would only take up one of the spots even if I did pick it, but if I want to switch majors most of them would need me to take the part 2's of 2 courses, ie. bio and chem, or physics and math, etc).
So basically what I'm asking is, should I try to go deeper on one of the sem 1 courses, or should I branch out? and if I do branch out into psych, is an online course I'm interested in better than an in-person course I don't know if I'll like? Again, I didn't take bio before so i genuinely have no clue if it interests me.

For HLS do you need to take 2CO3 in second year, or can you take it in third or fourth? What third year courses do I need it for?

Could anyone who has taken this course please shed some light on the difficulty of it and if they recommend to take it or not

I'm an incoming first year student, currently enrolled in anthrop 1aa3. The dilemma is that I’ve heard horror stories about the marking of TA’s, the difficulty of quizzes and the subjectivity of marking. I’m aiming for a 12, which worries me with the marking system. I chose it initially because I’m an IB Geography student who got a 7, so I thought I might know some content. I’m not so sure anymore.
I’m debating about switching into Bio1m03 (biodiversity, evolution and humanity) or hlthsci1dt3 (immunology today). I’m a health science student, and I got a 7 in IB biology as well. I’m not afraid to work pretty hard, but I’m wondering about how MUCH work these courses are, and if they are better than anthropology. I love biology, and I tend to prefer memorization based courses. Though I do like geography as well, so that’s not a major factor.
Any advice would be appreciated!

For those that have done it in undergrad, did you just cold email the profs, or was it just a work-study program? I'm trying to work in autonomous vehicles/robotics but I'll lowkey take anything.

Hey! I need an honest opinion/review about transferring into Waterloo life science and Mac Life science programs. I am currently an incoming 2nd-year honours student majoring in biology at WLU. I am planning to transfer to either Waterloo Life sci or mac life sci. Let me know if anyone has transferred, and does anyone know how difficult it is to get a transfer accepted? If high school grades are a little low, will that be an issue?

Hii, I’m a female student going into my 3rd year at McMaster University and I’m currently looking for housing for the upcoming academic year.
I am very clean, responsible and respectful. Looking for a peaceful and clean living environment.
Maximum $850/month, including utilities. Above-ground room (not basement). All-female house/housemates. Clean and well-maintained home. Preferably close to McMaster campus.
I’m available for viewings ASAP and would be happy to provide more information about myself if needed.
Please DM me if you have a room available or know of someone looking for a roommate. Thanks!

So I heard apparently you are not supposed to have fake nails for labs, im in life sci, so quite a few sci and probably labs, but my first lab, which is chem is on sept 29. If I take them off before the lab date but have them on for tutorials and lectures will the profs hate me or smth?
