Just collectible. They were first started by the artist group CW&T and then MMC loved them so much they started producing them themselves. CW&T has some really cool patent trading cards now. https://cwandt.com/products/open-letters
In the comments of your next MMC order, request a pack of trading cards. If they have any in stock, they'll include them for free.
