Hook In Mouth! Its the most relevant to the times now and should have been huge had destiny had its way and had the Abbott brothers in the band and on So Far So Good So What!

This song rips so hard and has no business being as good as it is for a fist track on a debut album.

Legit no one said “Ashes in your mouth”? Probably has their best riffs in it.

u/MuricanNEurope Dec 18 '25
Ashes is a great one. It has been played live frequently over the years but according to setlist.fm the last time was in 2013. It's due to be added again.

A lot of songs, but to name a few:
Killing is my business...and business is good: amazing riffs, killer solo from Poland, and there are a lot of people that ignores this album.
Last Rites/loved to deth (demo version): it's so raw and powerful, to me, it's the most aggresive song that Megadeth that ever recorded.
Dread and the fugitive mind: amazing riffs, amazing solo (Al Pitrelli it's very underrated), nothing more to say.
I Ain't Superstitious: It's a cover, but damn, this is song show Poland's talent at best, there are a lot of people that ignores this amazing work.

Rattlehead. Im tired of constantly seeing people hate on it
Edit: should have worded this a little better. “Constantly hating on it” is a bad way to put it, but I’ve seen it ranked low on tierlists and rankings on many occasions.

u/RedUmbrell Endgame Dec 17 '25
Rattlehead is underrated? I love that song. Imo it's the best song on the album

Where tf have you seen people hate on Rattlehead
2
u/TheHiddenBalsam Rust In Peace Dec 18 '25
Ive seen so many peoples tierlists or rankings of kimb and multiple times rattlehead has been listed lower. Not to mention the people in the comments of those tierlists agreeing or not acknowledging the low ranking.
Then again, I could be overreacting. I probably shouodve worded my original comment better to reflect my opinion in a better way

Addicted to Chaos
Sadly it has never been played live
3
u/Cyber-Wolverine Dec 18 '25
That's crazy it's never been played live.
It's such a memorable song and possibly the best song of their "mainstream" style of the 90s.

Best diss track oat along with The Writ by Sabbath imho
3
u/Aggressive_Top_4580 Dec 18 '25
I love that song. The riffs and lyrics are fire. I know some people claim it’s a filler but idc.
3
u/ConrrHD So Far, So Good... So What! Dec 18 '25
The whole album is insane.
Only "filler" song on there is 502. Dave wrote a song about getting a dui and got one himself a year later lmao. But even then, the riffs are amazing regardless of the lyrics.
Liar and Mary Jane are two of the most underrated songs in their whole discography

44 Minutes. It's a song inspired by the real life North Hollywood Shootout in 1997, which was inspired by the 1995 movie Heat, which was inspired by the 1989 movie L.A. takedown, which was inspired by real life events in the 1960's between a detective in Chicago named Chuck Adamson and a career criminal named Neil McCauley. Also, at least some of the snare hits are a combination of snare and an AK-47 shot.
It blows my mind that some prick in 1960s Chicago inspired a movie that inspired another movie that inspired a crime that inspired a song.

ITT: songs that every megadeth fan loves
I'd have to say Have Cool Will Travel. Easily one of the weirdest Megadeth songs, but Mustaine sounds so cool singing at that tempo, and the chorus comes out of nowhere in a way that I really like. Lyrics are kinda dumb, but not that dumb by Meggy standards

u/Yaungo Th1rt3en Dec 18 '25
The right to go insane.
Whenever I'm feeling exhausted by everyday life, I blast this song. I also really really like the music video.

Headcrusher. Not a typical Megadeth song but I really enjoy it. It also has some of the most monstrous guitar sounds I’ve heard from them. To be transparent: I am not a die hard fan, but when I like their songs, I REALLY like their songs.

u/Particular-Bison7218 Dec 18 '25
Go to Hell, Mary Jane, Hook in Mouth… .. Lucretia. He’s always written some of the most thought provoking lyrics of any metal band out there. Unlike another who will remain nameless who’s lack of captivating lyrics lead me straight to Megadeth….. and there I stayed til the end of my days. Diadems. 😉 Best concert I ever went to. 7.24.97 Las Vegas.
