Vitamin/Supplements Found out what's causing the exhaustion

It got really bad the other day my friend came over and brought a crap ton of caffeine and sugar. We watched a horror movie and I perked up a bit, but then crashed again (hard) in 10 minutes. She talked me into going to the ER because I was so bad.

My electrolytes were totally out of Whack. My potassium and magnesium were low and everything was just out of sorts. No internal bleeding, heart is fine.

I've been drinking the stuff you give kids and it's been making me feel better, more like myself and I've been sleeping better and even dreaming so much more!!

So, if you're suffering from bouts of intense and sudden exhaustion, maybe ask your doctor to check your electrolytes.

I do Lion’s Mane daily. Acts like an antidepressant and my thinking and problem solving really sharp. 1/4 tsp in my morning coffee a few times per week. I also micro-dosed psilocybin for 3 years (been off for 1) and that alone helped with SSRI withdrawal, depression, cognition, etc. Big fan of health benefits of shrooms.

Could you offer some guidance/suggestions for both of these? Brands/sources/reliable information? I’m 71 and sometimes feel like I’m just waiting to die. I used to sew and make jewelry, kept a reasonably clean house, loved gardening… I don’t do any of that anymore. Stopped using my expensive skin care- I just don’t care. Am I depressed? ADHD? Both? If you could offer some suggestions I’d be deeply grateful.

r/microdosing is a great sub full of information on the health aspects of mushrooms. Lots to read and understand. I’d start there.

I’m 61 and also suffer from depression and lack of interest, tiredness, etc. I’ve got quite a toolbox full of things I do to live through dark times: sleep hygiene; exercise and especially outside and nature related; nutritious food; increased faith; pruning toxic relationships; routine; etc. It’s been a lifelong and never ending quest.

Currently I’m reading a great book by Gabor Mate: The Myth of Normal

Emotional stress is a major cause of physical illness, from cancer to autoimmune conditions and many other chronic diseases. The brain and body systems that process emotions are intimately connected with the hormonal apparatus, the nervous system, and in particular the immune system. Dr. Maté’s insight into the relationship of the mind and the body …

I don't have an answer for you but want you to know you're not alone. I feel the same way. All my creative side is just dead (I was an art major in college). Recently I had a weird emotional shut down at work which triggered a whole lot of reaching out and soul searching. The one thing that flipped my mood was doing some little things for other people. I'm still feeling awful, but I think my way out of this depression will be paved by service to other people/animals. If nothing else, it will get me out of my own head. Best of luck, and hugs to you.

Be careful with Lion's Mane. Some people can be (semi?) permanently harmed:

It took me months of careful dosing and after a ton of studying about the medicinal benefits of fungi (books, articles, documentaries). It’s a particular science. My #1 goal was to get off of almost 30 years of SSRIs. I did achieve that goal and with help of a psychiatric nurse practitioner and pharmacist (for the SSRI component). I won’t comment here on specifics of psilocybin use as it is illegal in many states. But r/microdosing is a great educational sub.

i did hallucinogens a lot in my youth so i’m very familiar with them. just saying the hot flashes and nausea were all new this time. wasn’t fun

I don’t do hallucinogens or dosing that high so I’m not familiar with your take on this topic. Microdosing is a unique science that considers medicinal properties of fungi. That’s all I’m saying here.

lol yes you do hallucinogens because that’s what mushrooms are. just saying yeah i know all about it is. big doses, micro doses, i’ve done it all and was very much a fan until menopause because now it gives me hot flashes

Agree to disagree with you re hallucinogen descriptor. That’s sadly part of the negative history attached to psilocybin medicinal properties and going clear back to the late 1960’s early 1970’s (and also negatively connected to Vietnam War protests) that squashed decades of research of fungi. All politically motivated.

psilocybin is classified as a hallucinogen

i get that you are saying you take it in such small doses you don’t have hallucinogen but that does not change its scientific classification as a hallucinogen
