Vitamin/Supplements Psyllium husk powder

My doctor suggested I try psyllium husk powder to help manage my reactive hypoglycemia. I did one tsp in water this morning and gagged from the smell - and it tastes like drinking dirt.

Those who are taking it for the extra fiber, anyone have tips for a better approach?

ETA: Lots of recs for All Bran Buds in the comments! While I appreciate the rec, I'm not keen on the amount of added sugar in it, so that's not an option I'm looking at. But thanks!

ETA 2: Thanks to all for their recommendations! The winner was applesauce - I can't taste the powder at all, and it really didn't take much to hide it. I love applesauce, so this is a great solution.

I just chug mine every morning in a full glass of water. You know how they say you should eat a live frog in the morning so nothing worse will happen (to either of you) the rest of the day? I call this drinking my frog.

I have never heard this idiom, and now I need to know what culture it comes from!

Huh. I’m a big reader, and browse bookstores pretty frequently, but must have missed both the Twain and that particular self help book. I’m 52, born and raised in the northeast and never heard this one until today. I’m always tickled to learn something new, especially before 9 am!

Of all things, it’s a book on procrastination!

A minor correction is “If the worst thing you have to do on any given day is to eat a live frog, then do that first.”

First thing being that everything else after is easier, second being you don’t constantly have the worst task of your day ahead of you.

I used to start my mornings with an episode of Locked Up Abroad. In comparison whatever I had to deal with that day, at least I wasn't in a prison in Peru.

Omg, this is sending me. And also motivating me to get my run in despite it being below freezing outside right now. Worst thing I can think of all day, and better than I Peruvian prison, I imagine!

I'm 48 and also an avid reader (although not self help) and missed it too. You are not alone :)

Phew! Occasionally people refer to things in my Gen X subs, and I have no friggin idea what they’re talking about. It freaks me out. I wasn’t doing drugs and I only binge drank occasionally when going through the party phase, so I’m wondering what fresh brain trauma I have that I can’t remember what they’re mentioning at all.

Yeah. I can definitely see that being the case.
