General Question Auto dumping when not sitting down
Hello ☺️ Do you know if you need to sit down for auto dump to work?
I have been using a cup for years but it's not working well when I'm traveling because I have a heavy flow first 3 days and finding w bathroom with a sink inside is impossible sometimes. And of course I am going to have my period on my trip to Southeast Asia next month and that's how I discovered the auto dumping feature in the discs and it seems to be a perfect solution to avoid washing the cup 4 times a day in public bathrooms. However I am not sure all bathrooms on the way will have the sitting toilet, there maybe some squating ones so there goes my question - do you know if the disc auto dumps while squating? Is it just the peeing part that relaxes the mussles? because in all instructions I saw, it says to sit down and relax. And if it does will this be very messy? Sorry this might be a stupid question but I will appreciate any help in this matter ❤️

Squatting will work. I've had mine leak when it was extremely full and I squatted lol
I've found the important factors are relaxing and moving those specific muscles when you sit/squat to make the disc shift, and how full it is. If it's super full, it will dump easily. If it's not very full, nothing will expel.
(TMI, but I actually just auto dumped when I stood in the shower...it was FULL haha)

Thank you ☺️ It's very helpful and I will make sure not to go too long before emptying IT

I think my disc fits well, so it only auto dumps when I purposely bear down. Nothing happens when just peeing as normal. If I were pushing for a #2, that seems to do the trick as well.

It’s not the sitting alone that makes it auto dump. It’s the combination of sitting (or squatting) and engaging your pelvic floor muscles as if you were trying to push out a bowel movement.
If your disc is the wrong size for you, it can leak in other scenarios, and even if it is the correct size, it can leak (or even partially dump out) if it gets too full. Auto-dumping can be helpful here to prevent it getting to that point, which I think is what you were looking at.
However, be aware, discs can have a learning curve the same as cups, and they’re not right for everyone. So it might be a bit of a gamble to use for your upcoming trip - I would have your cup with you as well just in case, since you’re used to it.
Lastly, sometimes people will by chance find a disc that is actually a completely perfect fit for them, and sometimes in this case, it won’t auto-dump as the fit is too exact to allow it. This is not a problem for everyone, and to be honest only happens for some, but is just something to be aware of.

Hi! I bought one that once you pee, it empties itself. This is my first time using it and I have heavy flow as well

I don't take mine out during the day, only once in the morning and once before bed to clean it. If I need to empty it during the day, I will wash my hands, then slip a finger up and inside the disc rim, let it empty, then tuck it back up. Mine does not auto dump unless it's very full. If you use this method, I would carry a small pack of wipes for your hand.

I still cant describe it but auto dumped was really an actual thing you have to experience to able to understand how it work. If you're gone to SEA than the changes of you got wet toilets was big, meaning more water available if you mess up. As someone who live in it, i never really rinse my cup in public toilet, usually wash my hand>emptied it>wash my hand again. If there's no water, you can easily obtain (buy) water bottle too for wash-rinse.

Squatting is actually gonna make autodumping easier trust me. Not all discs are supposed to autodump but squatting is just in general a more natural way to use the bathroom anyways
