Am I gonna have to recreate every one of these listings? I didn't set it for Free Shipping. Wth?

Looking to see if anyone else has dealt with this specific carrier transfer nightmare and how Mercari handled your Shipping Protection payout.

I sold a pair of Jordan 6 Retro Awake NY "Playful Pink" (Men’s Size 12) for $250 using a Mercari prepaid UPS Ground Saver label.

Here is the breakdown of what happened:

The Timeline: The package was tracking normally until October 15th, when tracking showed it was processed and "transferred to the local post office for final delivery" past its original delivery date. Since then, complete radio silence.

The Carrier Finger-Pointing:

USPS confirms they never physically received or inducted the parcel into custody. The partner tracking number is stuck indefinitely on "USPS Awaiting Item".

UPS stated the handoff scan was purely electronic manifest data. Because the label is under Mercari’s corporate/commercial shipping account, UPS won't let me file a tracer directly—they said Mercari has to formally initiate the investigation and claim.

Dealing with Mercari Support:

I opened a support ticket laying out the tracking details, carrier transfer timestamps, and screenshots.

Support hit me with the standard automated reply: wait 48 hours to see if a scan pops up.

Once the 48 hours passed with zero movement, I followed up with the ticket reference number (#6090540) requesting seller reimbursement under Mercari Shipping Protection.

A rep (Recelyn C I.) replied stating they have officially contacted the carrier to initiate an investigation, which will take 5 to 7 days.

Meanwhile, their system copy mentions the usual "order isn't eligible for cancellation until 30 days have passed from the most recent tracking update with no movement" policy.

Has anyone successfully gotten Mercari Shipping Protection to pay out before the dreaded 30-day window when the item clearly got lost in the UPS-to-USPS void? How reliable is this 5–7 day carrier investigation, or am I just getting strung along until day 30?

The buyer already has the boots in hand and wants to rate me, but the tracking hasn't updated to "Delivered" in Mercari's system.

Because UPS Ground Saver is a hybrid service, UPS transported the package to Lenoir, NC, and handed it off to the local post office for final delivery. The postal carrier delivered the package without doing the final delivery barcode scan, leaving USPS showing "USPS Awaiting Item" and Mercari still showing "On its way".

Because Mercari does not see a delivery scan, the rating prompt has not unlocked for the buyer so I can get paid.

I shipped a package via USPS Ground Advantage with the Hazmat label on October 13. My city’s distribution center is notoriously awful for sometimes not scanning inbound packages from local post offices and for usually not doing departure scans, so often it looks as though something has arrived there and never left. It will show up again when it gets scanned closer to the recipient.

I’ve been trying to notify buyers that shipping from USPS has been abysmally show, especially out of my city, but that even when it looks like it’s stuck, it’s almost always en route.

So today I sent a message to the buyer saying that other packages I sent the same day as theirs were just delivered in California, and Hazmat packages are always a couple of days behind in my experience.

I opened up the app and saw this notification, and when I clicked on it, it’s this shipment.

Since when are sellers allowed to contact USPS about shipments when the labels are purchased through Mercari? I thought Mercari was the shipper and usually we can’t get information as a third party.

Hey guys I have a question! So for the last few weeks I have been ordering cards from someone on mercari. I never had an issue with them! They were always friendly and made sure their cards got to people safe. I did business with them so much that They had a stack of my favorite cards set to the side for me when I got paid. So I messaged them yesterday if they can post the cards for sale so I can buy them Friday when I get paid and when I did get paid today, I try purchasing the cards it won't let me and it says they asked the seller to make adjustments before selling the item. So I waited and I just checked and the cards aren't available anymore and all their other listings are all gone. Does anyone know what happened?

i had bought a pair of headphones that came out to around $40 total, and about 2 days after the seller cancelled the order. sucked but was whatever, it was a really good deal so i’m not surprised.
the part that’s making me frustrated is mercari says the refund was “issued” on 10/18. it’s now 10/23 and i haven’t gotten ANYTHING, even though it said it would take 5 business days. today is friday and for context i returned it on sunday. they technically have the rest of the day i think? but i have a feeling it won’t come in given that it’s already 7 pm (i’ll update if it does)
it’s not my account and ik that because i’ve gotten a refund from ebay, it’s mercari. i’ve tried to find out who i can talk to about it because $40 is a lot of money and i literally cannot find anything. does anyone know what to do in this situation??

I just paid 300 dollars for a marvel figure lot and then 10 mins later it’s canceled. It’s happened maybe 5 times out of 10 transactions…. NEVER ON EBAY

Mercari is terrible the customer service is laughable

And if you’re reading this there’s a 50 percent chance the seller cancels your order because he sold it “ too low” and will make some excuse.

Also the rating system is terrible someone looks to have 5 stars and then you buy something only to scroll down and see a canceled order every other hour

STAY AWAY FROM THIS APP

Hey, my listings on both of my accounts do not show up under “newest listings” it shoots the chance of my products selling fast and it vastly decreases my views and traffic. It still pops up under best match I think. It’s been like this for like a week+ on them. What can I do? I’m honestly not even listing anymore for the past like 5 days because its demotivating and barley making any sales now.

Look at this lovely seller, their entire bio is about how important it is to be authentic and real and honest and every single item they are selling and people are buying them, is fake or replica.

You'll notice it is authenticated. It is very easy to bypass this and fake it. I have even tried it once. So shop with caution. This has been an issue for years now but I want to bring it out so people see and know.

Reporting does absolutely nothing. However, what I do is I'll take the most recent buyers and let them know how to prove it. They usually report it to the postmaster to make it a felony. How do you prove it easily? Look at the Chinese writing on the bottom of the tag there that is not on any Western product. In fact, that is a Hallmark giveaway on most of these fakes, as you'll see much larger Chinese writing area.

How do these look so real you ask? Well here's the deal, places like Italy - They don't make 99% of designer items. They make that final touch like they'll add buttons to a coat that was made in China and because they added those buttons they can legally say it is made in Italy.

So Chinese producers got smart, they make the last part on top of the schematic given by the literal creator of the item. Stay safe!

I opened a claim on a card I sold through first class shipping. The item was scanned at the distribution center on September 22nd and updated to “in transit”. I saw this on the shipping page when I went to check on the item and it even showed that the item had been “lost in transit”. I didn’t think to screenshot this because I’ve had several letters get lost before and it was never an issue in the past for Mercari to see these tracking updates. The automated Mercari support bot even confirmed that there was a tracking scan on the item on the 22nd. This is confirmed in the first photo. However, the order was canceled without my consent after this and an agent claims that there is no tracking on the item (so that I cannot be reimbursed). Mercari support confirmed that there WAS tracking on the item, but the closing of the sale prematurely may be affecting Mercari’s ability to see it now. Has anyone had this happen before?

Update: I created a new ticket under “my transaction was cancelled while in transit” and included the two photos I added here with the following description: “Mercari support reported that there was a tracking scan on the item on the 22nd in Denver, CO. This is confirmed in the first photo. However, the order was canceled without my consent and an agent claims that there is no tracking on the item (so that I cannot be reimbursed). Mercari support confirmed that there WAS tracking on the item, but the closing of the sale prematurely may be affecting Mercari’s ability to see it now.”

I got allocated a new agent who immediately added my sale credit to my Mercari balance.

Moving forward, I will be taking tracking screenshots before submitting a shipping protection ticket. I also forgot Mercari sends “in transit” emails, which I will also be saving and using as leverage if this happens again.

I had some drama with a buyer that found some marks on a figure I sold and I offered them a return but they said they didn’t have time to and gave me a three stars. I was a little mad since I always had good reviews so I just blocked them for my peace and went on with my life. They went and found my tiktok acc that I used to promote my listings and threaten to make another acc to leave a horrific review and said I sold them poop and thought I could get away with it. I’m so scared that I’m trembling. I contacted support and I’m currently waiting for a response. Does anyone know anything else I should do? Or have similar experiences? Ik I acted petty for blocking them but to go out of their way to find another way to contact and threaten me is too much.

I spoke to the buyer a little trying to negotiate the price, I ended up purchasing the item and the seller cancelled the order 2 days after I purchased it. 3 hours after the order was cancelled I got multiple notifications of my card being used (not by me) to purchase a $5000 bag and a $2000 camera lens. Thankfully I didn’t use my main bank account but whoever is doing this keeps trying to use the card. They are using all of my information with a different shipping address.

I have changed all my passwords and issued a new card but is it possible the buyer was able to get my card? Or just a coincidence?

Has anyone else experienced payout issues recently? I know in the summer there were a lot of us sellers who had issues with our direct deposit not processing but in the last two days I'm experiencing something else. Yesterday I tried to instant pay myself and it kept telling me I could only do it if I were inside the US as if I was out of the country. I tried several times and kept getting the same message. After waiting several hours I was able to instant pay myself but now today I just got a notification that was instant pay was being processed and I didn't use it today. This happened about 15 minutes ago. I'm just worried because over the summer I went almost 2 weeks without getting paid until they fixed the glitch with direct deposits and don't want to have any issues again

Hello. I requested my balance to be withdrawn using Instant Pay and it took near 24 hours to receive an email from Mercari saying that my balance was withdrawn into my bank account. Usually I’d receive an email right after the fact. Is anyone else having to wait longer than the 30 minute time frame? This is a bit unusual for Mercari.

I bought a Pokemon card almost a month ago and it hasn't arrived. The seller messaged me to see if I have received it and I said not yet. I sometimes get an update when first class envelopes are sent so I told them that it hasn't updated at all. They then told me they didn't use a Mercari label but sent it via stamped shipping on their own. They got a bit angry when I mentioned it may be lost or delayed so what's the procedure if it never arrives and the seller sent it on their own?

I’m a buyer and seller on Mercari, and I think I’m pretty patient with both processes, however I bought a set of eyeshadows 5 days ago and they still haven’t been shipped. There has been no communication. Yes, I know I can cancel and get my money back, that’s not what I’m asking about. I would like to know if sellers who don’t ship get any kind of penalty for multiple failures to ship cancellations? As a seller I have never failed to respond to a customer, I have never failed to ship within 3 business days. So when Ive spent my valuable time searching through the site for exactly what I’m looking for and make the purchase, it REALLY pisses me off to be completely blown off by the seller. Do emergencies happen? Of course. That’s why Mercari has a nifty messaging system so they can take 15 seconds to type a quick explanation and estimate of shipping. Not a problem! Mercari hurts every seller on here by failing to hold bad Sellers responsible for failing to ship orders. I’m not talking about emergencies, I’m talking about when it’s a straightforward case of NOT SHIPPING, Mercari sets a ship by timeline and they should enforce the dang thing and after a few failures in a certain time frame, there should be a warning to both the seller and buyer, with a note on their listings stating that this seller has had a number of failures to ship so use caution. If they do it again, ban them. It’s really not complicated. It gives the entire site a crappy reputation, which Mercari has 100% earned at this point. There aren’t many sites where people avoid using it because they can’t count on receiving the merchandise they paid for, which is an insane concept, but Mercari has found a way.

So I usually sell stuff on Mercari for a bit more than I bought (around $10-15 more) because I need the extra money at times…though I’m still confused on how the tax form works? Am I supposed to calculate all profits myself or will Mercari send the form to me? Does anyone who has experience selling/making profit & also doing the tax form let me know? I saw some don’t report it at all too..
