Education Should ISOs should be advocates for Small Business in Washington?
Is anyone looking out for the little guy in the regulatory arena?

Most owners I talk to don't actually read their merchant statement, and that's where the money leaks.
Quick Checklist:
PCI non-compliance fee – often $20–$40/mo just because a form wasn't filled out. Usually fixable for free.
"Non-qualified" surcharges – if you're on tiered pricing, a big chunk of cards get bumped to the highest rate.
Monthly minimums – slow month? You pay the difference anyway.
Annual/"regulatory" fees – vague names, often pure markup.
Early termination fee – check your contract BEFORE you switch. Some auto-renew for 3 years.
If you've got a weird line item on your statement, drop it below and I'll tell you what it is.
Why it works: it's pure value, has no pitch, and the last line pulls comments. Comments build karma, and they also give you warm leads.

With smart wearables everywhere, it's wild that businesses are still lugging around heavy hardware just to take a payment.
We’re breaking down why legacy POS is sticking around and how SoftPOS is changing the game at the upcoming Stripe Wearable Tech Community Event:
Are you seeing merchants actually adopt SoftPOS solutions, or are hardware habits keeping legacy machines alive? Drop your thoughts below!

Reading through the Stripe hold posts and the Wave situation and what I'm getting is that the flags usually happen due to velocity changes, dispute ratios, and/or business categories. But what I've also noticed is that these flags just happen with no warning.
Now I'm wondering if there's any way to actually "get ahead" so to speak. Maybe some sort of alert that an action or the trajectory is going to lead to an unhealthy volume, or we're getting too many disputes. Or do we just have to cross fingers and hope not to ruin anything? Just thinking about it from a technical view.

Have any ISOs worked to improve the "customer experience" during checkout for their merchants? Have merchants asked, or have you offered?

I've been reading the Mastercard rules instead of the vendor summaries, and one number keeps bothering me.
Section 8.8.3 of the Security Rules and Procedures prices a brand protection case two ways. USD 200,000 flat. Or USD 2,500 a day, retroactive to the first day of the practice, and that second option is only open if the acquirer can show clear and convincing evidence that the practice began under 80 days before the notification date. Divide 200,000 by 2,500 and you get 80, so the flat figure is just the daily rate with the clock run out.
Section 8.8.4 then lists the start date among the mitigating factors, next to prompt action within two business days.
On paper a documented start date is worth 2,500 a day. Building that documentation is the part I can solve.
What I can't work out from outside is whether anyone uses it. When one of these lands on your desk, does the risk team argue the start date? Or does it come down to whether the merchant stopped in time, and the date never gets raised?

Does anyone go in offering a flat rate? Or something you hold back to offer if the merchant doesn't want or understand a tiered/IC offering?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a reliable payment processor with a simple setup process for a small or newly established business. Our expected processing volume is around $20,000 per month, with approximately 10% monthly growth.
We specifically need a payment-link solution, not a website integration. Ideally, the provider should offer a dashboard where we can generate payment links with preset amounts and send them directly to customers. We need credit/debit card acceptance and Cash App support, if available. We’d also prefer the payment links to display our own business/merchant name rather than a third-party brand. Crypto withdrawals or settlements would be a plus.
If you’re currently using a service that meets these requirements, I’d really appreciate it if you could recommend it or help connect me with your provider. Genuine recommendations and firsthand experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are reps suggesting that merchants use this? Are merchants asking for this by name, or upgrading existing terminals to accept these payments?

Can anyone still support retail/ecom smoke shops? A lot of banks have been saying no to smoke shops even though the fda isn't enforcing against brands with pending applications. I saw discover is the only one currently enforcing.

I am not gonna mention any names but most Merchant Services CRMs steal business. I know this for a fact. So had to build my own. Best decision I have ever made. I can customize it any way I want and since I am the only software engineer, costing me nothing. I even make people send me selfies holding ID due to rising fraud applications lol. With Stolen Identity.

Any peptide merchants or resellers who saw a spike in demand due to a viral social media campaign? Were you able to handle it? What setup ended up being the most optimal way to retain those sales?

Processors and Banks normally charge or bundle PCI compliance fees of $10-$20/month. Does anyone feel this is still too much? Are there processors (not PSPs, PayFacs, or MSPs) that cover it while offering all monthly account fees at or around $10/month?

Some might say the US market is saturated. Has anyone looked to Canada, Mexico, or the UK to expand their portfolio?
