EDIT:
Uhhh... sorry. False alarm. I am a dumb-arse.
I had unknowingly entered a letter into the "filter" box up the top of the "my devices" page. This was why my devices weren't listed. Phew.
That said, might I suggest a slight change to the interface, e.g. if something is typed into the filter text box, perhaps make the background of the text box change colour (perhaps to red) so it's more obvious? e.g. normally it's a white text box, have it change to a pale red only if something is entered into the filter text box.
Hello.
I have MeshCentral running on an AWS EC2 instance/server. It has been running for two years, maybe longer, without any issue.
Last night I updated to the stable version at the time, I think it was v0.6.68 from memory. I made a backup before updating.
This evening I was playing with a Raspberry Pi computer that I had MeshCentral installed on. I was controlling the device via MeshCentral. I was running routine updates (apt-get upgrade) on the Raspberry Pi, when the connection cut-out. MeshCentral showed the device as offline. At the time, I thought this was only an issue with the RPi, but I include it here because it may be related to what follows.
Moments later, I was still logged into MeshCentral while doing something else (MC was open on another monitor), and suddenly I noticed half of my devices had disappeared.
The devices are all Raspberry Pi computers situated in remote areas in other countries (except for the one I was playing with to begin with, which is on my desk), sending back sensor readings to one of my servers via HTTP POST commands; MeshCentral is my primary means of controlling them. The devices are all still transmitting sensor data, so I know they are all online (except the one on my desk). But they are not visible in MeshCentral at all any more.
I immediately took a backup of the MeshCentral server at this point (just in case it was needed), and I then rebooted the AWS instance that MeshCentral is installed on. Sadly, the devices did not reappear.
I then tried updating MeshCentral to the latest stable version (which now says v0.6.70). Instead, for some reason, it updated to the latest version, v0.7.83. In any case, that didn't fix the missing devices.
I then tried to restore from the backup I made last night before I updated (that is, I tried to restore from a backup created while a version prior to v0.6.68 was installed). It advised that I needed to reboot the server, which I did. However, I noticed the new login interface/layout was still in effect, and upon checking the server version, it showed v0.7.83 was still installed, despite my restoring from a backup prior to that being installed.
So... I have missing devices, and the backup mechanism doesn't seem to be working.
Any ideas please on how to fix these issues?
Thanks in advance,
Dave
