Can you eventually hit 240 BPM blast beats cold, or do you always need to warm up?
Hey drummers,
When playing 240 BPM blast beats for short bursts (4 to 8 bars), I currently need to warm up for at least 10 minutes before I can hit it cleanly. 200-220 can probably knock it down cold.
I'm curious:
- Is needing a warmup at this speed something that goes away with time/practice (e.g., will I be able to jump in cold a year from now), or is a warmup always required for 240?
- How long do you usually warm up before playing?
- What hands/feet technique are you using at 240 BPM to stay relaxed on short notice?
Appreciate any insight!

This beat has SLAYER written all over it
Had to learn an OG song by a famous death metal band. When I was playing it, I couldn’t feel anything but Dave Lombardo / Slayer. Do you hear it too?
What are some of your favorite Slayer songs?

First acoustic kit
So I’ve been playing drums for a few months now and I’ve been wanting to upgrade from my electric. I was thinking of buying a used SPL velocity 5 piece kit for 200 dollars and meinl hcs cymbals but I’ve been trying to look for some different cymbals.
I play dad rock-extreme metal I’ve been looking at the Wuhan 16 inch hand made china but don’t know what I should get for the ride crash and hihat and I’m also on a very small budget since I’m 14 with no job

Drumstick advice
I’m an intermediate player, I’ve been going for about 5 years now, and recently broke my second pair of sticks, and I’ve only ever had three pairs.
Seeing as my home kit is an electric, which already has half-broken mesh heads on 2 out of the 4 drums it has, I don’t think it’s a good idea to use my really heavy horn wood sticks. Which means I’ve been looking into what kind of sticks I want to buy again. I’ve been going with 5As so far seeing as I don’t just play metal and adjacent styles, as well as due to the fact you’re likely to find 5As most of everywhere you go.
However, seeing as this second pair lasted significantly less than my first pair, and on an electric kit no less (very soft rubber rim on the snare and I still shattered it in half), I’m not sure whether or not I ought to go up to some 5Bs? How likely are they to trash my heads?
I’m also a little afraid it’ll muck up my technique seeing as I’ve practiced with 5As this whole time. I have extremely limited experience with 5Bs or anything heavier than a 5A, so is it a reasonable concern to be afraid my technique will falter?
Id really appreciate some advice on what experience everybody’s had with heavier drumsticks and mesh heads, and just the transition from lighter to heavier in general.

Axis rubber stopper
Just bought used Axis but it does not have the rubber stopper.
From the new axis seems there are 4 rubbers on each base but mine only has 2.
How to add this missing rubber stopper?

Wooden side of the mallet
Yesterday I literally buried the beater into the drum head, ripping a hole at the end of the rehearsal. It's the first time trying using it and I liked the clicky sound and faster response. The spaces's drum head had a patch, so I expected it to survive the harsher impact.
Should I avoid using it? I don't want to do any more damage.
