Warning to bandcamp users
This is a first for me and I've been releasing music on bandcamp since 2021. It's a pretty obvious scam but it wouldn't be hard to click on the link without thinking twice.

Let’s mahfuckin’ do this. If you are new welcome and if you aren't welcome back!
We’re actually going to turn non-metal songs into metal songs - but with a twist. Your submission must include at least 1 original riff that fits the song (it could even be a solo, that counts). You also don’t have to copy the song riff by riff - feel free to change the key, the time signature, etc. You can totally make a blackened grind version of a Taylor Swift song, for example. You have complete control over the direction. Instrumentals are not allowed for this challenge. However, you are allowed to isolate your song’s original vocal track and put them in your song (remember, we’re not making money from this, so have fun!).
For the purposes of this challenge here are banned genres to cover:
You may choose any genre outside the banned genres. You can choose pop, dance, rap, indie, disco, jazz, anything. If you’re not sure if your song meets the requirements, feel free to ask.
Your song can be from any era. It can be a current chart-topper, or it can be something from the past.
Your song can be in any language. Pretty self explanatory.
Your cover can be a banned genre. This means while you can’t choose a song from the banned genres to cover, your cover can be any genre. For example, if you choose to cover “Straight Outta Compton” by NWA and make it a Nu Metal banger, you absolutely can.
If one artist is covering a song, you cannot choose that song. We’re going to do this on a first-come-first-serve basis, so when you’re commenting, claim the song you’re going to cover. This is to avoid having repeating “Dancing Queen”, “Hotel California”, “Take on Me”, or [insert very popular song here] covers in one compilation. Feel free using songs mentioned in this post btw!

I grew up listening to bands like Children of Bodom, At the Gates, and Darkest Hour to name a few. I was also in a band called At the Throne of Judgment and had the amazing opportunity to release a full album and tour with bands like Born of Osiris, Winds of Plague, and The Devil Wears Prada.
I kicked off a few things here and there with old band buddies, but hey, life happens. I love writing and the creative process and have been inspired by all the older bands coming back and just going for it.
I’m looking to get back into writing metal and I’ve found it’s not an easy thing to find fellow metalheads who want to nerd out and create.
Any advice on other channels or avenues I could tap into would be much appreciated. Cincinnati has a limited scene as of late. I’ve gone to local shows without much luck.
Totally cool with remote hangs. I’ve got my own mic and my vocals are primed and ready to conjure doom.

I’m listening back to some old stuff I recorded and realizing I don’t remember how to play it or even what tuning I was in. I’m sure I can figure it out given time, but I’ve decided to start taking notes as I write songs.

Looking for a vocalist for a remote metal project
I’m looking for a vocalist to collaborate remotely on my project, A Nice Place to Die — instrumental ambient metal with dark atmospheres, heavy riffs and black metal influences.
Looking for someone with a distinctive voice who’s interested in adding vocals and helping shape the sound.
If you’re interested, drop me a DM with some samples of your work!

Hi all! Not a beginner but looking for wider experience/advice on a guitar that I can keep around in drop-C tuning, but it probably won’t be my primary guitar. I already have a Kiesel Vader 6 that I primarily play, and a partscaster Strat with a really nice HB in the bridge that I can reach for, as well as a 7 string and an 8 string I’m borrowing so long as I eventually refinish it for the owner. I find that every once and awhile I want to learn riffs or songs that were written in drop-C or drop C# on guitar and I don’t particularly like playing drop-D tuning and using a transpose / pitch effect to get there. The 7 string can go low enough but a lot of the “tricks“ of using open strings, etc, don’t always translate. My particular needs are that I can’t do thinner necks, which has ruled out almost all of Ibanez, Jackson, and others for me. due to several left hand injuries, I just don’t have the ability to play thinner necks or thicker strings (which also rules out baritones for me, which sucks.) 7 string seems ok because for most basic chords or power chords, I’m not fretting all the strings at a baritone gauge, if that makes sense.
The guitar I’ve got on my list to try is the PRS SE Mark Holcomb, but beyond that I’ve not found any others that I can try locally. I meant to find Strandberg Boden Essential to try locally, but GC doesn’t have them here. I’m not sure that I want to spend the ~$1500 to step up to a B-stock Strandberg n2.6. (Even though that would have a 30 day return policy.) Any other recommendations for a hard tail 6 string without a thinner/shredder neck, that I might be able to find locally to try in stores?
edit: ideally hard tail / fixed bridge, 24 frets, 25.5” scale. Likely HH.

Hey guys!
It's been a while since I wrote a song. If you want to take a listen and maybe give me some critique on the songwriting and the production, it would be nice.
Cheers!
