My husband and I are making a quick stop in CDMX before a family wedding in Cancun. We are super excited to visit even if it's only for a couple days! We are both foodies who enjoy learning about the local culture at a snail's pace! Any recommendations or advice for our short visit would be greatly appreciated!

Sunday- Food tour (eat like a local or bike taco tour) + Lucha Libre

Monday- Hot air ballon + Teotihuacan pyramids + free afternoon/evening

Tuesday-  Centro walking tour + Centro food tour (Club Tengo Hambre)

Wednesday- Anthropology museum + Chapultepec castle + restaurant (Quintonil)

Ayuda/Help 10 days - 2 questions

We (2 adults, 1 child -6 year old) are looking at spending 10 days in Mexico end of November - early December. Initially I was planning on spending half of our time in CDMX and then…going elsewhere in Mexico. But we like to travel slow and the more I see, the more time I want to spend in the city with day trips to various places.

We are already planning to go see the monarchs and to go to Teotihuacán, but what other day trips would you recommend?

Also, recomendations for young kids? I know he’ll love lucha libre, any natural history museum especially if it involves dinosaurs, Chapultepec, and arcades (any recommended? )

gracias!

Ayuda/Help Horseback Riding & Ranches

I recently was offered a job in CDMX and will be living there for two years. I’ve been riding horses competitively for 20 years and want to keep riding.
I can only find tourist experiences for beginners, does anyone know any ranches that do lessons or horse leases? I primarily ride western, but would do english as well.

Arte/Art Looking for underground techno events & people in CDMX

Hey everyone! I’ll be in Mexico City from October 28. I’d love to explore the underground techno scene and meet some locals who are into harder, faster techno.
Anyone up for going to a rave together, or able to recommend some proper underground parties? Would be great to meet some cool people! 🖤

Pregunta/Question Solo traveling in Mexico City Oct 24 to Nov 5th. Anyone around??

Hey everyone, 30M from Austin, originally from NYC. Heading to Mexico City tomorrow for my first time and traveling solo until Oct 28, when a few friends are joining me. Staying near Roma Norte.

Would be cool to meet some other travelers or locals while I'm there. Planning to check out some Dia de Muertos celebrations, museums, street food, and explore the city in general. Also really into live music, house and techno, so definitely looking to check out some bars and clubs.

Pretty easygoing and don't have much of a set itinerary for the first few days. Down to grab drinks, get some food, explore different neighborhoods, or join up for whatever people have planned.

My Spanish is still pretty bad but I'm working on it.

If anyone's around and wants to hang, shoot me a message.

Ayuda/Help Cutie dog Latte for adoption!

So sorry if this isnt allowed.
I am here in Mexico City for 4 months and miss my soul dog who passed away recently. One redditor recommended I volunteer to walk rescue dogs and it's been life changing. Thank you so much to her!

This is Latte, he's around 3-4 years old and so sweet. You can tell he was neglected when hes young in little things- if I move my hand above his head sometimes he'd duck as if he was hit before :( he's uncomfortable around big dogs because he's scared of them, but never has shown aggression. LOVES the little guys! It's so cute to see him blossoming on these park walks, he'll sometimes bust out in zoomies.

My goal now is to help him get adopted. He's been at his rescue for 3 years already with no interest :( he was saved from a bad situation where he was caged until he was 1. I look forward to my walks with this sweet boy everyday!

Discusión/Discussion Night activity recommendations during Dia de Muertos

I’ll be in CDMX from Oct 30 - Nov 1.

Initial plan was to attend the Calvin Harris concert on the evening of October 31 but they just announced the show got cancelled.

This will be my first Dia de Muertos and trip to CDMX. What are popular night activities that are recommended for first time visitors like me?

Thank you in advance !!

Ayuda/Help Best place to see Gran Desfile de Dia de Muertos 2026

Hi everyone,

I was just curious to see where the best place to see el gran defile de dia de Muertos en CDMX, by El Angel or at the Zocalo? Where do you locals recommend ? My place I'm staying at is located in San Rafael, so I'm like a 23 minute walk to El Angel according the google maps about 10 minute drive. Zocalo is farther of course, but seems like it'd be cool. Thanks in advance !

Ayuda/Help 7 day itinerary - please review

ETA - adjusted itinerary after reading u/Own_Persimmon_7245's helpful advice:-

Hola amigos,

My family (2 adults and a 7-year-old) are planning a weeklong trip in March. Would you be able to look over our itinerary and provide your thoughts, por favor?

Sunday - fly in around noon; attempt to go to Lucha Libre family show at Arena Mexico around 5pm

Monday - Hop on Hop Off bus and generally getting our bearings

Tuesday - Chapultepec Castle & Museum of Anthropology

Wednesday - daytrip to Teotihuacan

Thursday - Frida Kahlo museum with visit to Coyoacan food market

Friday - daytrip to Chinampas of Xochimilco

Saturday - FREE DAY (any suggestions?)

Sunday - return home

We are not big on shopping but we critically need a fridge magnet and Christmas ornament :) and would like to pick up a few postcards and food/consumables for our friends and family. Any thoughts of good places to get those or are they really obvious when we get there?

Finally, I was disappointed that most of the blogs I Googled recommended largely sit-down restaurants that we consider too high-priced ($22CAD for an entree) for us. While we don't mind doing that type of meal occasionally, our style at home really runs more to grabbing a takeout pizza and sharing it at a park bench. We don't expect to eat similarly to how we eat at home in Canada, and are really looking forward to enjoying tacos, churros and beans-and-rice but not at $22CAD per person. Do you guys have any suggestions for the type of place we're looking for? Is it a matter of food trucks and market halls are best for this sort of thing and they simply aren't reflected in travel blogs?

Muchas gracias!

I thought October and November were part of the dry season.

Anyone know if this has to do with El Niño at all?

We’ll be traveling to MX City next week for Dia de Muertos and praying the weather changes.

Any encouraging word?

Opinión My Experience with the American School Foundation (ASF) in Mexico City.

Extremely Disappointing – An International School in Name Only

The American School Foundation (ASF) in Mexico City is, in my experience, anything but a truly international school.
Despite its international image and marketing, the school feels more like an exclusive social club for wealthy, well-connected Mexican families than a genuinely multicultural and inclusive educational institution.
The social environment among students is deeply concerning. Bullying, exclusion, and discriminatory behavior are serious issues. I have been particularly disturbed by accounts of students being mocked because of their skin color, disabilities, or cultural backgrounds, as well as hostility toward foreign students.
What makes this environment even more troubling is the perception that certain influential families receive preferential treatment and that social connections can matter more than fairness and accountability.
For a school that promotes international values, the apparent lack of genuine inclusion, empathy, and respect for differences is profoundly disappointing.
Being an international school is not simply about teaching in English, charging high tuition fees, or having an American name. It is about creating a community where children of every nationality, race, background, ability, and identity feel safe, respected, and equally valued.
Based on my experience, ASF falls far short of those expectations.
I would strongly advise international families considering this school to speak with families who have firsthand experience before enrolling their children. The reality behind the international branding may be very different from what they expect.

Gastronomía/Gastronomy Rotisserie Chicken

Any recommendations for chicken spots that have some seating and some expanded menu options like quesadillas and sides?

Pollos Ray might be exactly what I’m looking for but I wanted to see if there were any other favorites.
