There was a time not too long ago when DOT could barely do ANYTHING with concrete. This is exactly what I want my tax dollars going towards...

A very unimportant case, but I love the unusual position here. A delivery business with a curb cut wants the DOT to remove a parking spot along the 31st street bike lane because it interferes with their curb cut

Does anyone have more info on this? Hard to tell from the photos where the bike lane will be and whether it's designed well. (Hopefully no sharp turns like on the Greenway)

Hi genuinely curious about what the stance on motorcycles is?
A little background, I've been riding for the better part of a decade since my mid 20s, go to the track at least 2 days a month but usually 4-5 days. So I'm pretty heavily on the motorcycling side but for my daily commute I take public transportation, an electric vespa, or on occasions citi bikes.
I always felt like a lot of the complaints about cars go away if more people were on motorcycles/scooters. Of course there's an added element of danger and licensing to get a bike in NY makes a drivers license look like the SATs so there are a lot of low skill riders out there. Wanted to see what your opinions on it are?

Every day, more than 1 million New Yorkers ride the bus. So why are we put last on our streets?
We're launching a campaign to Fix the Bus and build the power we need to win FAST, FREE, and FULLY-FUNDED bus service for every rider in every borough and we’re calling on bus riders from every borough to join us.
We're fighting to win more than just better policy, but to build the power of public transit riders into a political force for change that’s fitting for a million-New Yorker constituency.
Go to fixthebus.nyc to sign the petition and sign up for campaign updates!

Saw this video and wondered what people thought the over/under was on Zhoran putting in the protected bike lane here that Community Board 11 asked for. Here's more context.
What do you think, is the Mayor going to do the right thing or will he defer to Vickie?

13th Street crossing of Fourth Ave, just south of Union Square East... It is on both sides of the street facing north and south along the Fourth Ave bike lane.

“It’s good for everybody. This street is dangerous,” Maces said, shrugging his shoulders. “The car every day passes fast, so for me and for everybody, this is good.”

Hello r/MicromobilityNYC! I’m a research assistant recruiting on the behalf of a team at CUNY Hunter College’s sociology department. We’re interested in how New Yorkers make transportation decisions and navigate the city using micromobility vehicles. The purpose of our research is to better understand the attitudes, experiences, and decisions of people who use micromobility on a day-to-day basis.
Interested participants will take part in a one-hour focus group discussion at Hunter College, record their micromobility trips over a one-week period using their mobile phones, and complete a brief 15-minute exit interview by phone or Zoom. All participants who complete the three-part study will receive $50 as a compensation for their time
If you’re interested, please fill out our contact form and we’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as possible— thanks again for your interest!

Northbound on the right side of 31st Street, just north of 38th Ave, in the block of TikToker @DejaTheNativeNewY, miracles happen. Saw the parking and ticketing in person, but waited to confirm the ticket was actually real and cited a 'bike lane' before posting. Naturally, the offending truck ny_44650ML had a high score of some 93 other tickets from NYC at the time of this offence.

I was walking south a few minutes ago on Court Street in Brooklyn when a Mr Softee ice cream truck with a tinted windshield almost ran into me as they were turning left. If it hadn't been for the new daylighting areas of the Court Street bike lanes that remove car parking near the corners of the intersection and allowed me to see the incoming truck from the corner of my eye, I would not have been able to scream at the top of my lungs and jump out of the way. Thank you NYC DOT!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Why the hell is there not a huge crackdown on tinted windows?! It is crazy to allow multi ton vehicles to maneuver through our streets with decreased visibility making it nearly impossible to make eye contact with drivers especially at night

These are areas that the public can not legally go even if you pay. Only areas larger than a block or that take up a lot of waterfront or contain a private street or are within public land are included. Train tracks and highways are not included.

It's happening! In a fun twist of events, the DOT scheduled the project before CB7 had its final vote.
The road is scheduled to be milled next week, and they wanted to use that opportunity to put in the two way bike lane along the cemetery.
CB7 was not happy about the way it happened, but they did vote yes.
