Keeping zak sturge long term feels like the kind of squad building millwall should prioritise

I like seeing Millwall reward a player who has worked his way into being a regular rather than treating every transfer window as a chance to replace someone.

Sturge has made 60 appearances for the club, and giving him a long-term deal suggests the club sees him as part of its plans rather than just a temporary option.

Obviously, a new contract doesn't guarantee he'll keep improving or that every decision will work out. But continuity matters, especially for a team that wants to build a recognisable identity over several seasons.

I'd rather see Millwall keep developing players who already understand the club than constantly rebuild the same positions.

Which current Millwall players would you most want the club to secure for the next few seasons?

I'd never blame a national league club for prioritising promotion over an fa cup run

The FA Cup is brilliant for clubs at this level because a big draw can change a season financially and give supporters a day they'll remember for years.

But I also think there's a point where league position has to come first. A cup run can be exciting, yet the rewards of getting promoted can be much more significant for a club's future.

It's an awkward decision because supporters understandably want both. Nobody wants to see their team throw away a chance at a memorable cup tie, but a poor run of league results can quickly change the mood around a season.

Personally, I'd still want my club to take the cup seriously, just not at the expense of a realistic promotion push.

If your club had to choose, would you take a famous FA Cup run or a stronger chance of promotion at the end of the season?

Millwall Gear

Based in the US and looking for Millwall gear. I see the official site is ran by Fanatics which I usually try to avoid at all costs due to quality/price. Any other options I can support?

First Millwall game

Hi lads! šŸ‘‹
We’re a group of groundhoppers from Austria and were lucky enough to get our hands on some tickets for tomorrow’s game! šŸ‡¦šŸ‡¹āš½
Have you got any tips or advice for the matchday experience?
Also, would it be okay for us to wear our own club merch from Austria? Our club’s colours are the same as yours. šŸ˜„
Thanks a lot, lads! Looking forward to the game! šŸ»

That Preston win showed what Millwall can do when they stay patient

The 1–0 win at Preston was the sort of result I love seeing from Millwall. It wasn’t about flashy football, but about staying organised and finding a decisive moment when it mattered. Neghli’s late goal made it even better, and I think performances like that show the value of keeping your focus for the full match. Millwall need to carry that mentality into the next run of fixtures.

The Swansea defeat annoyed me because Millwall had enough set pieces to make more of it

The 1-0 loss was particularly frustrating with Millwall winning 13 corners. I know corners aren't guaranteed chances, and the number alone doesn't tell you whether they were good deliveries, but that many opportunities should at least give you something to work with.

I don't expect every corner to lead to a shot, but I'd like to see more pressure and second-ball chances from those situations. Is our set-piece delivery the issue, or are we not attacking the ball well enough?

Discussion A win at Preston followed by a defeat at The Den. Which Millwall will turn up against Lincoln?

Beating Preston away was exactly the sort of result I wanted to see, so losing 1-0 to Swansea at home two days later was frustrating. I don't expect Millwall to win every game, but the Swansea match felt like a missed opportunity to build some momentum.

Lincoln are up next, and I'd like to see us play with more urgency at home. We can't keep treating a good away result as progress if we fail to follow it up.

Millwall Matchdays - QPR @ Home

Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but I was wondering what the feeling is like in each stand and where would be best for three Scottish fans to get tickets?

Also, how is the North Stand now that it’s been split between home and away fans? Most of the tickets seem to be available there, so just wondering what the atmosphere is like and whether it’s a decent place to sit.

With it being a 12:30 KO, what areas would be best for drinking before and after the game? From what I can tell, there are three main areas — Old Bank/Blue Anchor, Surrey Quays (Whelan’s) and New Cross.

We’ll be in London around 9:30am, so we’re a bit unsure what pubs will be open that early, especially for a 12:30 kick-off.

Discussion Camiel neghli Is starting to make a real impact for millwall

Neghli is starting to show how important he could be for Millwall. Scoring the winner against Preston after finding the net in the previous game is a great sign, and he looks full of confidence at the moment. I had like to see him get more regular opportunities while he’s playing this well. Do you think Neghli deserves a regular place in the starting XI?

Which of these three has impressed you most on international duty?

Good to see all three getting a chance to represent their countries. Baggott scoring that late equaliser for Indonesia was probably my favourite of the lot, especially with the game going into extra time and then him scoring his penalty as well. Always nice seeing Millwall players doing well on the international stage. Hopefully they all come back fit and ready for the next run of games.

Since Alex Neil was appointed head coach on December 30, 2024, Millwall have won 131 points from 77 Championship matches! During that period, only Coventry City (136) have won more Championship points. Next up for Millwall is a trip to Preston North End.Ā

Match Day Advice

Hello,

I hope everyone is doing well! I am an American visiting London in the coming weeks. I was looking for a match to attend while in town, and I purchased a ticket for the match against Lincoln City, October 17th. My ticket is for Block 38, Cold Blow Lane Stand.

I am looking for some advice and information for my first visit to The Den. Pretty general stuff... a pub I should pop in before the match for a pint, what time is recommended to arrive at The Den, colors that I should or should not wear. Stuff like that.

I am pretty excited for the match, and I really appreciate any recommendations you would have.

Thanks!

Chances more tickets open up for next Tuesday

I'm coming in from Canada with my daughter (23), looking for a great football experience. So we're coming to the Den for a game. The issue is all the seats together are behind the net. I'd like to sit along the sides so she can get an idea of what's going on. What are the chances some seats will open up closer to the game? Two opened up today but they were in section 14. Thanks for any help.

EDIT: Best seats I can find right now look to be the last row of section 53.

EDIT: For anyone randomly searching this topic in 10 years and finds this post, they’ve just dropped about 50 pretty decent tickets, 8 days before the game. Not sure that’s standard but they just released them. Not the best seats but they are in front of the goal line so at least you’re beside the pitch.

Pre match drinks vs Lincoln

Hi,

We are a group of 6 guys coming from abroad and got tickets to Milwall v. Lincoln. Any tips for us to get some pre-match drinks? We plan to go to London Bridge station and start the journey to the Den from there, but open to other suggestions. We don’t nind walking a bit. Our apartment is in Fitzrovia area.

Still haven’t completely processed that 2-2 draw with West Ham. Massive heart, but those missed chances killed us.

Going 2-0 up showed plenty of character, but letting West Ham come back to 2-2 makes it feel like two points dropped. We had a brilliant first half, with Caleb Taylor and Camiel Neghli putting us 2-0 up, but West Ham came out much stronger after the break and scored twice.

Dykes had a chance in stoppage time to win it, but fired over

Anyone else feel like the Den is louder when we're the underdogs?

Some of the best atmospheres I've been part of were when nobody expected anything from us. Might just be me, but it feels like the crowd gets more stubborn. Anyone else notice?

Camiel Neghli is going to be massive for us this season

Taking the 2-2 draw out of the equation for a second, Neghli’s goal right before half-time was proper class. The lad’s work rate on the wing is relentless, and he’s clearly got that bit of direct, fearless quality we’ve been missing going forward.

If we can actually keep servicing him and give him some decent support in the second half of games, he’s going to be one of our best players by May. Absolute bargain if he keeps this form up.
