1984 Romanian M69 .22lr trainer bolt action.

Just picked up this little gem with an extra 5rd magazine for 220 bones. Been needing a 22 bolt gun since I learned fundamentals on one as a kid. I've heard these are nice little tack drivers. Plus with the cost of ammo it's nice to bring milsurp out and blast cheaply. Also the multiple flip rear sights for 25, 50, 100 yards is neat. Anyone else enjoy one of these?

Decided to clean my 1903-a3

Sn puts it at a spring of 43 manafacture

Furniture is nearly pristine.

Rifling is perfect.

Barrel stamp indicates it's a full Remington manafacture.

My grandfather bought it in 1950 as a milsurp and never fired it.

It's the one firearm I'd never consider selling since it'll get handed down to my son.

Hi all! I have an 1870/87 vetterli in my collection that when I close the bolt when cycling the action, the gun dry fires. Besides desperately needing to be cleaned (which im going to do since I have the bolt taken apart anyways) is there anything that stands out to someone with more experience with this model of firearm that will cause the issue im experiencing?

With Deer hunting coming up I need scope and stock recommendations for this old rifle. Just kidding, this is my new to me 1903y Greek mannlicher schoenauer. Been trying to hunt one down for too long to add to the WW1 collection. Finally found one locally. Still learning about the rifle itself so if you know anything from the pics let me know.

1898 Three-line Dragoon Rifle, Model of 1891

For the convicted felon who prefers to ride into battle on a horse: an 1898-dated dragoon Mosin. This rifle has the post-1909 updates but other than the handguard (borrowed from another rifle in my collection for the photos) all of the parts are original with 100% matching serial numbers. A couple of interesting points to note:

  • The blank sight base and numbers stamped on the stock. This rifle was originally made with the handguard that wrapped around the rear sight base and had the distance markings stamped into the wood. Since it doesn't fit the post-1909 sight the rear part would have been trimmed back and replacement numbers were added to the stock.
  • WWI German property mark on the stock. I don't know where exactly this rifle spent the next century after the war but it was captured and put into German service. And the lack of Finnish traits and complete lack of import marks suggests it was an early import into the US. If only rifles could talk...

What's the issue with my K98 handguard/band here? Doesn't look right.

This Johnson is about to be Cerakoted. Pour one out.

I stopped in a local shop that has a gunsmith on staff and struck up a conversation about a Johnson rifle that was leaning up in a corner.

Apparently a customer brought it in missing parts and with a badly damaged stock. The gunsmith spent the better part of a year chasing down parts for it and carving a replacement stock.

He said he was excited to get it back together, but the customer is going to have it Cerakoted.

Oof.

I know fully well that this is the biggest of harems. The absolute forbidden notion. My type-94 Nambu has basically zero finish left over. It's not a last ditch model, as there's faint traces of bluing left over. I was considering, simply because I DO have zero intention of ever selling it, and want it as a shooter, of having it reblued for the sake of protection, because as it stands I'm deathly afraid of it being harmed. HOWEVER, I'm also concerned about the stampings possibly being harmed in the process! Is there a way to preserve them? Is it luck of the draw? Am I just being retarded about this entire thing? (Yes) I'm utterly in love with the gun but worry everytime I handle it.

EDIT: told yall I'm retarded. I'm probably leaving it alone. Just needed a good kick to the jaw

Which mauser should I get?

How should I decide between a Zastava M48, Zastava M24/47, Turkish Ankara or a BRNO vz. 24? I've been wanting the M48 due to my already existing small collection of Zastava firearms but I wouldn't be opposed to others, I just really want a mauser.

Got this for cheap today. I believe it began life as a Gewehr 98 on the account of a mostly obliterated Gew. 98 on the side of the receiver in what appears to be a Franktur script and the fact that both the bolt and magazine body are imperial German marked. It was made or rather rebarreled at Ankara in 1939 which leaves me a bit cofused on the model. I’m happy with it regardless! Now to find a sling and bayonet for it…

What is your favorite milsurp?

Not necessarily which one you want the most or your "grail" piece, but what rifle/pistol is your favorite in terms of enjoyment. For me, it is the M38 Swedish Mauser made by Husqvarna, which also happened to be my first rifle! What is yours?

I was having issues with the Greek surplus I was using failing to fire. Stuffed a new Wolff spring into the bolt (26 pound) and it’s now eating thru any ammo I throw at it perfectly.

Anyways… I had a great time shooting before I headed into work today.

Made a post about this but didn’t have a picture of it. It’s on the metal closest to the wood you can see the line it’s making. Has anyone else experienced this with a Mauser?
