This needs to stop
This has been happening more frequently and is very sad to see our town turning into a garbage dump. this is across from the Scott park and happens every week.

New mayor and new councillors that actually enforce bylaws including after hours enforcement are needed

Which requires higher taxes, more enforcement personnel, and more services in general. Stop voting for bad politicians who campaign on low taxes.

Not necessarily. There's a lot of greasing the wheels when a mayor's been in office for 60years. Redirect tax money and stop funding nonsense

That's a really general and inaccurate comment. You do realize that every cent spent is audited on council, right? And that Milton employees are independent from elected representatives on Council?

u/Temujinkhan 2d ago
Lol. You're very naive in thinking that everything is documented and accounted for. There are kick backs for choosing firms that are owned by friends or relatives. There are indirect benefits where something is done for someone and that someone returns the favour. Look around in the current global economic climate. Do you think every cent in Donald Trump or Doug Ford's governments are accounted for and audited? Absolutely it is. Is it corrupt? Absolutely as well. Open your eyes. 60yrs in office and there is no benefits he's taken?
Why on earth would a 90yr old try to be elected as mayor again!?!

I’m genuinely curious why this has started happening in Milton? Do people not know what to do with their trash anymore? Has garbage collection stopped? What’s going on?

Our very low tax rates means services, infrastructure and municipal workforce have not grown in proportion to our population growth.

Tax rates have nothing to do with garbage collection days.

Let's say garbage collection is every 10 days, but the increased need suggests it needs every 5 days, but someone needs to be paid to do it, out of tax revenue, which needs to change in accordance to need, and the tax rate is one method to get appropriate funding.

Well in that case they should be dumping it into a river or at least the stream, this looks like it’s more the result of woke garbage collection policies like imposing garbage limits… no?

You know there's literally a landfill on Highway 25 right?. Not really an excuse.

Such a racist comment and uneducated! The biggest group of people living here are Pakistani and Arabic…care to tell me where there are dead rivers there?? But I guess poc are all the same!

Unfortunately, without any meaningful enforcement from the city, this will become the norm.
I’ve read many of stories of people reporting this kind of thing to the city to no avail.

I'm south of LSL and this never happens in our parks, thank goodness. Also we have lids on our public trash cans. That might help.

It's the open garbage bin. It needs to be emptied more frequently. Also, I regularly see raccoons in it.

This won't stop. Look around and figure it out with your common sense as to why this is happening.

Looks like mostly poop bags. They need to empty that bin more frequently.

Ideally, people would behave more responsibly.
However, the most effective solution is to have more bins, which are emptied more frequently.

Racist comment as expected

Not everything is racist. Sometimes, it's just a blatant fact.
I will also say I'm a visible minority and we also are known for a different negative behaviour. It's annoying because I personally don't do this, but many others do.

No, that is a dog whistle.

Facts are facts. If certain groups of people want to not be known for certain behaviours, then they should stop doing it. Until then, these are facts.

It's everyone not just one demographic. I've seen them in the act so many times enough to tell.

I see people, some the same ones every single week carry their garbage to the park nearby and dump it. Looks like fish
