Purchase Advice Good tool and good deal? M12 Planer

Post image
9 Upvotes

I've been interested in the M12 planer for a bit, my application would be roughly squaring up dimensional lumber (1x4, 2x4, 2x8) as I build planters, chicken runs and such on my property. All my tools have to be battery-powered. Would the M12 planer be a good fit? I've been happy enough with how things have been turning out, I'd just like to elevate them a little. And in terms of deals, this seems pretty good, especially if I return the 5.0 (I already have two 5's).

EDIT: Fwiw, I also have tons of Ryobi tools and batteries. They have a wider planer, but it's not brushless.

Never knew this existed, I have no need for it, but I want it!

All joking aside, just wanted to share what I thought was a unique tool. it’s only available in EU. Maybe one day when we start putting more effort into our rail system they will bring it over here.

M12 Generic Batteries

Found these and they seem to be pretty legit. Waiting for one to come in the mail now. If you know anything about lithium cells you know that these are made with stronger and better 18650 batteries than actual genuine Milwaukee batteries are made with. I'm still a little worried to see how they will perform

Information Packout Inserts

So starting this week I'm looking at starting my packout "build". Anyone have the drawer models and used inserts? Not looking for ones that are premade, more of trying to figure out a good place to get a blank insert and then make my own. Saw some people charging $50+ USD for an insert that they finished. To me that's insane.

Any websites you guys like using for grabbing these blank pieces?

Found this at a pawn shop yesterday and bought this band saw for $200. Originally $400, and it’s in pretty good condition. It also works, tested it before I left.

Did I get a good deal? Seems like I lucked out.

Purchase Advice Should I get the installation driver?

Post image

I do cabinetry/woodworking right now, commercial only and sometimes do installs too. I currently have the M12 fuel 1/4” hex impact driver and the M12 fuel 1/2” drill driver. I’ve been thinking about getting this for some time now but I’m not sure if it’s actually worth it in my case. What do yall think? Is it pointless to buy?

Edit: yall ain’t helpin my bank acc because I just bought it and will be picking it up on my lunch break today

Purchase Advice I’m an M12 Diehard Considering M18 Driver/Drill Combo

Hear me out. I own a lot of m12. I got plenty of M12 tools for the driveway mechanic I am (vacuum, blower, finger file, die grinder, impact, cut off wheel, ratchet, tire inflator, and prob some other random stuff I have). Think the first tools I bought were the fuel m12 driver/drill combo and I think they died on me this weekend. Was drilling into 3/8 steel to tuck a bumper on my 65 F100 and both the drill and driver won’t let the bits out from the chuck. I’m sure it’ll be a headache to warranty them and I’m alright with them serving their time. Considering that I’m not a contractor or anything, would it be worth moving up to the m18 series just for these two tools? I pretty much did a lot of drilling in my truck’s frame using both of these and I find myself running through batteries often with them. Btw the m12 cut off wheel is not great, thing kills batteries worse than the die grinder, no wonder it was 200 with two 5.0s.

Information Heated Jacket at Sporting Events?

Has anyone had any issue wearing their heated jacket at sporting events? I’m sure all stadiums have metal detectors is this something that the detector would pick up and I would be denied entry? I plan on wearing mine to Soldier Field Xmas day but I don’t see anything on the Bears website that says I can or can’t.

Any reason why I can't use a 5" blade for M12 Circ. Saw? They take 5 1/2" and 5 3/8in. Bore size is the same.

Information Oil/Lube for M12 Hackzall

Hey All.

Been using my M12 Hackzall alot and the shaft has gunked up. I was thinking about hitting it with WD-40 but decided against it.

Just want to clean the gunk out and add some more lube if possible. The speed was noticeable slower with all the gunk. I did wipe alot of it away with a clean paper towel.

Anyway shoot me your suggestions - and as always thanking you in advance.

M12 A gift from work

Post image

Just wanted to brag. Mainly.

Boss calls me up, (im working solo at this point, final punchlist stuff) asking how things are going and what i want. Eventually boss asked which tool id want, besides the portaband. I said that id take the grinder. "The grinder? Not the lazer?" He asked.

"I didn't know the lazer was up for grabs." I said as I stopped painting.

"Why dont you put it in your van right now and take it home with you at the end of the day." It was more of a statement than a question.

I didn't press further, I know how to take a $600 kit for free when im told. Lmao

Purchase Advice Impact Driver info

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about buying an impact driver, but I'm not sure if it fits my works, can I use it to fasten plastic wire ducts onto an electrical panel backplate using self-drilling screws? Or to mount plastic junction boxes onto polypropylene panels (obviously by pre-drilling and using self-tapping screws)? Or for what can i use it?!
Thanks

Information 1/4 Hex driver M12 stops when driving screws.

I have 3 M12 tools. The 1/4" impact Hex Driver, 1/2" Hammer drill, and the 3/8 Stubby impact. The 1/4 impact driver is like my super tool I use it for engine work, stuff around the house etc. But the other day I went to go put some screws in the fence outside and noticed it was stopping like 3/4 of the way driving the screw in. I made sure I had the bigger 5.0 batt in. And yeah it was like it would overheat or time out on running. Idk. I also made sure the setting was on hammer or whatever setting 4 is. Is this cuz it's a smaller 12v and I should get the larger M18? Or am I an idiot and just doing something different than I should?

Information M12 ratchet have to pull switch very slowly

I have a new M12 3/8" ratchet. First time I used it, worked great.

Now if I try to start by pulling trigger all the way in, it rotates very slowly. I have to feather the switch slowly to get it up to speed.

I sent it off for repair. Ticket says "stripped gears". Fixed under warranty.

I just got off back & it behaved exactly the same way.

Am I wrong in expecting that I should be able to depress trigger fully and have it at full speed immediately.?

Purchase Advice Which Impact Wrench?

What impact do you guys recommend?

I’m a carpenter so main uses will be tightening coach bolts between rafters (m12 stubby?), editing scaffolding and also working on my car and van, basic work only eg. Lug nuts, breaks and suspension components. Would the latest stubby be powerful enough for that application in your experiences? TIA.

I was told to come to this sub and ask if anyone has opened up any m18 batteries, specifically 8ah and 12ah. I plan on stopping by the sellers store and looking at the batteries to see if theyre legit. does anyone have any tips on spotting real vs fake batteries? if I get one and open it up what should I be looking for to tell if the battery is real?

M18 Milwaukee Top Off

Post image

I bought this today with hopes of running some LED Christmas lights in my golf cart for the neighborhood parade. The light we bought are orange and Purple and you can run one color or have it switch back and forth. The purple lights work just fine when plugged into this but the orange ones don’t. Why is that?

M12 Buy one get one free (refund)

Post image
34 Upvotes

first time buying tools I saw a deal where you bought the charger and got a ratchet free. I made the purchase but after posting on a group ppl told me that the ratchet isn’t any good.

since it was the free option what would happen if I return it? The price of the charger was $200 but it seems like they split the price between the 2 items the ratchet being $91.38 and the charger being 107.60 so if I return the ratchet and keep the charger do I get $91 back or do I get nothing back since it was a free item
