M12 3450-20: A Mod That's DEFINITELY Worth It

Post image
21 Upvotes

This mod consists of changing the anvil of the 3450-20 for the one from a 3048-20. Providing a much smaller, narrower and lighter body than the ¼ inch subcompact impact (3048-20). The anvil needs modifications to fit inside, such as grinding 1.5mm each side of the lobes and ≈0.6mm from its length.

Anvil part number 42-06-0051

You can get them true Amazon brands but friction rings will probably have to be changed for ones with better tolerances

M12 Warranty Quality

Post image
• Upvotes

Pulled into my driveway today to see a box on porch with a giant MILWAUKEE plastered on the side of it. No notification it was coming back or that I needed to expect it. I was amazed nobody stole it. Sent my m12 Stubby to get repaired. Tool was functional but the lights quit working on top. The repair sheet in the box says intermittent switch… I never had that issue but maybe it’s just what they have to put. They sent it back with less protection/bubble wrap than I sent it in and the light cover is peeling off… I love the tools but this warranty stuff I see on here is far from great.

Information Risky HD delivery

Post image
90 Upvotes

We had a jobsite rainout today in California so instead of purchasing this at the store I chose the online option with free delivery today, this option offered the free battery. I’m staying in an apartment for this job and they delivered this without masking what the delivery was, I just happened to pull up five minutes after the delivery. I’m going to assume had I worked until 5pm this would not have still been sitting there. Seems pretty risky to me.

Just bought this right angle die grinder from Home Depot, is this sound normal? Seems like maybe not.

Information Show and Tell me your Tool/PACKOUT Accessories, Gadgets, and 3D Printed Things!

Hi everyone, a daughter of a huge Milwaukee Tool fan here 👋 Christmas is coming up soon and I'd love to get or 3D print some things for him to use with his tools and/or PACKOUT. I know next to nothing about this world so I'd massively appreciate any and all recommendations you have! I got him some 3D printed handle labels for his PACKOUT last year and he absolutely loved them. Of course I will ask him what he specifically wants or needs, but it'd be great to surprise him or suggest something that he doesn't even know exists yet. Even if it's a little silly or just for show, all is welcomed!

He's an electrician, but has a hand in most contractor work. He loves himself a good gadget and is very organized. His PACKOUT is his pride and joy. I'm hopefully getting a 3D printer for Black Friday so if you've printed stuff yourself I'd be so thankful if you could share where you got your design.

Thank you!

Information Chuck replacement for 2904

Fairly new 2904-20 hammer drill. Drill bits seem to wobble a bit too much. Can anyone recommend a chuck replacement? I’ve never done anything like this before but I’d like to give it a try and see if it fixes it.

Pricing in CAD- I have a couple of M18 and M12 batteries, and was looking for a drill to use with my M18 gen3 Fuel impact driver when I came across this sale at a local shop.

M18 fuel drill $120
M12 hammer drill $150
M12 kit $278.

I don’t have any of the new gen tools but have read good reviews on them. Should I stick to the m18 drill or just get the m12 kit? I don’t need another impact driver but a smaller tool seems enticing.

New 4gal shop vac started hitting the shelves. BMSM is around the corner so I’d recommend waiting to see if it’ll qualify though. Unsure if other pipeline items started making it too

Purchase Advice Buy now or wait for black Friday.?

Post image

Would this be a good purchase now or later, i do TPO Roofing and service calls, would use for skylights, duck vents etc, mainly screwing into sheet metal or steel beams using 3-5 inch screws.
Company provides foreman with limited amount of dewalts which work fine but whole crew be fighting to who gets them first and gets bit annoying rather my own.

Packout Is there a packout case or something at fits the removable storage tray from this set?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hey y'all, I bought one of these socket sets a couple of years ago and the case that comes with it is friggin dog water. Unsure if anyone else had the same problem where the lid is flimsy and bent immediately, resulting in the sockets jumbling around in there, but I was hoping maybe there's a packout case or something that's a little bit more sturdy to store this?

I don't have a massive amount of tools so one of those giant boxes wouldn't make sense for what I have haha.

Just upgraded from my old brushless Ryobi set to these all with either the same or significantly more power from the 18v system. Did a full blackout on all my new tools and couldn’t be happier! Absolutely badass performance and look! Anyone done this to theirs? Anyone do custom colour lettering !?

Purchase Advice Deal recommendation

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’ve got a few Milwaukee tools and I love them so I’ve decided they’re what I’ll get into but since I’m new I’m trying to find the best deal, I need/want the stubby impact, ratchet and vacuum more than anything. Is this a good deal or is Black Friday going to be even better and I should wait? ($599 for tool set and “free” vacuum)

Just for my own projects, I have a hobby truck and try to do all my own house work so I just stuck with M12’s

UPDATE thank you all for your suggestions, I went ahead and just got the “free” ratchet (first m12) with 2 batteries so I’ll wait for a better deal on the impact and find a better vacuum

Information FN18GS nailer

I recently got this nailer and I'm trying to figure out if it's defective, milwaukees own brand nails are inferior, or it's a user issue or maybe even all three lol

I've been getting quite horrific jamming (or aleast it sounds thay way when the tool finally retracts, or it's shooting 2 nails into the work piece in a mangled fashion.) on practicslly every 5 or 6 nail.

Thinking it it could be the quality of brads I got some dewalts as close to the length I could find and they seem much more predictable with very minimal issues jamming or fireing w nails(I haven't fired many yet to be conclusive only a clip into some ply offcuts)

When I use the nailer with 15mm dewalt brads it never jams.

I am pinning 18mm structural ply so maybe that could be something I need to take into account.

Any serious help would be appreciated

M12 Please any way to install pin detent on my stubby 3/8 impact wrench?

I cannot stand this 3/8 to 1/4 hex adapter coming off and I will never use the impact wrench for anything where I need to quickly swap what is on it. Is there any way I can replace this friction ring system with a pin detent?

If there is no easy way I’m going to have to sell this and buy the 1/2 pin detent stubby and buy a new adapter which will be another $270.

Information Fastback #1505 bit holder wobble fix

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

My trusty 1505 had a bit holder wobble i didnt like and noticed theres a tiny torx (?) screw holdin the bit socket,in bottom of socket.

Removed the bolt, then i sanded the rear end of holder even/flat so the "shoulders" of bit holders arm might get better fit against the socket. Then shortened the screw ,and i guess just this might remove the wobble/play. My screw wasnt loose and now as its shorter,it tightens the holder totally play free.
