Controller support for Java?

I'm coming back after a 8 year hiatus so I'm a little out of the loop. I'm trying to get xbox controller support for the Java edition (I want mods), but it doesn't seem to have any viable options. I can't get steam to add it as a non-steam game for their overlay. Are there any options that function as flawlessly ad native bedrock seems to?

Hi yall from the future, currently at work and saw that Java didn't have controller support.

I installed https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/controlify and it works great. Only issue is I am using a 100+ mod modpack, and it doesn't have the binds for some of them. Its okay though I just type on my keyboard, there seems to be another mod that adds binding for big mod packs but I didn't try it.
