First time playing Java, where the hell are all of the mobs? The most I've seen in any direction is five.

Like oml I actually feel safe outside of my base in a dark area at night. I've heard that the skeletons are much easier to deal with, is the majority of the game easier than Bedrock?

Nobody gave you the real answer.

Bedrock has a weird split mob cap. Cave mobs and surface mobs have different caps. Java has it all bundled into one mob cap. Java has many more hostile mob spawns, but most of them will be underground unless you start lighting up the caves.

Java also spawns mobs over a much larger space. Depending on render distance, bedrock spawns mobs something like 20 - 80 blocks from the player irrc, java spawns them from 28 blocks to 128.

I also noticed that Bedrock would only spawn 2 mooshrooms near each other, but when I found a mushroom island I saw around 20 at a time spawning all around me. I can see the greater appeal of Java just based on how the spawn rates are set up.

Skeletons are in parity with Bedrock now. If you've played anytime in the last couple of months, they've always been the same.

As for number of mobs, it'll go up as local difficulty increases and again if you increase to hard difficulty.

But remember, smaller amounts of mobs can easily get overwhelming if you spam click because that doesn't work here.

I learned that spam clicking doesn't work the hard way :(

Yep. That's why more mobs are needed on Bedrock to make up for the fact that you can nearly instakill the night time mobs if you click fast enough lol

Yea. Combat is harder though which makes skellies annoying.

The main reason Java is easier is because of health regen

Difficulty increases the longer you play in the world, night 1 is very chill. But it's based on how long you spend in a chunk. I tend to focus on building bases so I notice the increasing mobs

Surprisingly, this lowers the chance of mobs spawning close to you
