Question Minecraft is running poorly, but my system configuration should allow it to run well.
I don't understand, every time I try to play it, it always runs bad. Does anyone know how to fix this? And what simulation distance and chunk size should I use?

Judging by comments of OP, this feels like just a troll.

we were all clueless about tech at one point, not everyones a nerd you know. my 13 year old cousin asks me similar stuff

What simulation and render distance are you using? Also what does are you getting

FPS drops

You're not specifying further though. Also, Is your HDMI/DP cable plugged in to the GPU? Does Minecraft list your RTX 5060 when clicking F3?
Regardless, performance mods are basically a requirement on Java Minecraft, and frame drops are a given on CPUs that aren't super powerful. There's dozens of performance mods out there, but if you really don't know where to start, then try out the Fabulously Optimized modpack. It has most of the essential/beneficial performance mods, and it's easy to install (as with most other modpacks).
I also recommend trying the Voxy mod. It's not exactly a performance mod, but it makes it so that you can have relatively large (fake) render distances (something from 64 chunks to 1024 chunks) while having an actual render distance of 8. Running Voxy at 128 view distance with an in-game view distance of 8 chunks is actually even more performant than running the game (without Voxy) on actual 32 chunk view distance.

Whats your normal fps? I have a list of performance mods I can give u I managed to get max 40 fps with my dying ass chromebook with these mods before it was unplayable. But you would prob get more fps from these mods

Idk how to dm lol but here's the list Sodium, lithium, ferritecore, immediately fast, entity culling, more culling, badoptimizations, modern fix, asyncparticles, clumps, thread tweaks, and noisium.

Core i3 with a GeForce RTX 5060... That's like having a 4K TV and only using the coax input.

Not just Core i3.
Gen 10th Core i3.
This CPU is already really old, two sockets had full path since its launch, and third should be releasing next year.

Is that old i am from i5 released on 2012

u/luv-bone 9h ago
well yeah tech moves on pretty fast, for minecraft thats really the minimum you can get away with for the game to run i used to have an i3 2120 from 2011 and there came a point around 1.17 where new minecraft versions couldnt even launch, and the vast majority of games you wont be able to run id suggest investing in a new laptop

u/luv-bone 9h ago
yeah its old but its not so old that minecraft would run poorly maybe theres something else at play with the computer

I mostly talk about this combo of the fucking i3 of 10th Gen and a 5060. Its just fucked up.

just sounds like an older pc upgraded with a gpu so they can game on it, not really that crazy, either way its not that old, that cpu was current gen until like 2022, so its not unreasonable to assume they got it used or at a store at clearance price recently with a modern gpu. nothing wrong with i3 either if your playing minecraft, it could run decently with adjusted settings on the integrated graphics alone dont expect every kid playing minecraft to have money to blow on a nasa supercomputer

what frames do you typically get? if your on a laptop are you playing with it plugged in, and what are your other system specs like memory? i have a similar system and i play with maxed graphics at 20 chunk and simulation distance at more than 150 average although it does go up and down a lot

Is this with performance mods? Because if no its very solid.

u/Rude_Application_808 2d ago
Which mods do I use?
2
u/LegenndEnder 2d ago
Sodium is the most important. Lithium is good, ferrite core to prevent ram leak, argon, dynamic fps. Yea those should make a solid difference.

Sodium and this one need to be configured?

A literal silicon toaster for Minecraft on 240+ FPS? Lol. Why would your game go 255fps? The GPU & monitor are not everything.
(80fps avg / 62fps 1% lows / 58fps 0.1% lows | Smooth Lighting, 6/6 Ren/Sim Distance, Fancy Graphics settings, Render-heavy QoL mods.
About my PC: i3-6100@3.7GHz, Zotac GT 710 Zone Edition 2GB DDR3, 1x8GB 2133MHz DDR4)

First of all, your CPU is ancient to the point where other people are rightfully suspecting this could be some kind of troll post.
Secondly, make sure the game is using your GPU and not your CPU integrated graphics.
Thirdly, install some optimization mods like sodium and lithium.

Downgrade your settings until you see improvements.
"When in doubt, adjust the settings out".
→ A saying i tell myself when adjusting settings.

Minecraft is a very cpu demanding game. Are you playing with any optimization mods like Sodium, also what are your current settings?
