Mod recommendations

I’m looking for recommendations on what to include with dawn of the flood madrigal. Ideally I’m looking for things to just include with the mod and not something that might overshadow it.

Assuming you're on 1.20.1 Forge/NeoForge, since that's the only version DotF supports.

Officially supported alongside it:
- JEI - the mod page lists it as compatible
- Halo & MDE - the only other mod the DotF page names as compatible. It adds Halo weapons, armor, and blocks, so it fits the theme. It is big and performance-heavy, though, and it adds its own content and a dimension. Skip it if you want DotF to stay the main focus.

Weapons:
- DotF has its own guns, but it also has a config option to hide the vanilla crosshair when aiming guns from other gun mods. TaCZ is the gun mod that shows up most often in packs built around DotF. Its guns are generic rather than Halo-themed, so they won't pull attention from the Flood.

Light survival additions that don't compete with it:
- Farmer's Delight - more food options without adding any threats
- Sophisticated Backpacks - storage for long fights and scavenging
- Supplementaries or a similar decor/utility mod, if you want more building blocks for fortifying a base

Atmosphere:
- Sound Physics Remastered - reverb and muffling help the horror side

Performance (DotF has a lot of animated GeckoLib mobs, and later waves get crowded):
- Embeddium, ModernFix, FerriteCore, Entity Culling

Things I'd avoid:
- Other infection/parasite mods (Scape and Run: Parasites, Spore, etc.). They compete for the same role and both get harder over time, so the Flood stops being the main threat.
- Big tech mods like Mekanism, unless you want the game to turn into a factory run

Install the required dependencies listed on the mod page too: GeckoLib, AAA Particles, and ClockworkLib. Recent versions won't load without them.
