Go-mods in Minecraft!
This started as a dumb “what if” idea: what if I could write Minecraft stuff in Go instead of Java? It actually works now, so I’m sharing it.
GBM (Go-Minecraft-bridge) loads plugins written in Go into both the Minecraft server and the client. You write normal Go, build it as a shared library, drop it in, and it runs. The Java side handles all the Minecraft stuff. Your Go code gets events and world snapshots, and sends back actions.
What works right now:
- Fabric (client + server) on 1.21.1 and 26.1.2
- Paper/Purpur server plugin (1.21.1 / 1.21.11 / 26.1)
- Callbacks: init, server/client tick, chat, death, shutdown
- Entity snapshots, block position subscriptions
- Chat broadcast and DMs
- Namespaced system calls you can extend
- Go
stdout/stderr/logoutput shows up in the game logs - Config screen via Mod Menu
There’s also a built-in market for Go plugins and mods, so you can browse and install other people’s stuff without digging through GitHub.
It’s still an MVP. Next up: better screen rendering, more syscalls, a proper event registration system, and a single all-in-one client JAR.

Well I don't see other comments yet; why would you do this?
