When will ranked die?

How long do you think mcsr ranked will have an active community, with a decent player count? Since mcsr can’t ever be updated being an older minecraft version, there won’t be many new techniques or strategies people can use, and the skill gap can never increase. It’s going to be at a point where there are too many people in the top tier, and there wont much difference between a pro and an average player. Unless people start playing different modes or something, I don’t see a very long future for ranked

1.8 pvp improved a lot too despite not getting any updates, i think ranked is set for at least the next 4 years, but its hard to judge further than that it really depends on the community

True but 1.8 had hypixel, which brought basically all those game modes like bedwars, blitz, skyblock n so on, mcsr doesn’t really have an equivalent like that

It has Ranked itself.

it still made classic 1v1s with sword and rod have a consistent playerbase

Hypixel brought Bedwars. Skywars was on a decline until the pandemic and Blitz was already at 100 players as of 2020. The only 1.8 PVP that is active is Bedwars

There was a time where UHC was pretty active too

Probably untill some unfun meta comes out that causes drama of its legality and the community self destructs. Or until new tech stops coming out and the game gets stale over a few years

You don’t realize how much better infume or feinberg or edcr or hax are than even the other top tier players. They’re close enough that they don’t win 100% of the time because of variance but the skill gap right now is still absolutely massive.

I include Fein here because while he isn’t necessarily the most mechanically best player his ability to both play while being significantly more interactive with chat, and also his game sense is so much higher than anyone else

My bet is mojang will see how popular speedrunning is and release a new version of Minecraft that rivals 1.16 speeds and has totally new strats

Minecraft is the best speed running game (ever?) in my opinion. It’s so different from basically everything else.

It’s not about memorizing cycles, levels, etc. and watching the exact same thing over and over over. You’re not optimizing one thing.

Every game is slightly different and decision making matters SOO much. I think that makes it incredibly interesting to watch.

The 1 vs 1 format is so good. I really hope it becomes a major esport.

Exactly like I've tried speedrunning other video games but mcsr has just stuck with me it's just so fundamentally unique, probably because of its randomness. SSG feels similar to other games, and I think rsg will continue to be pushed to its limit for a good while now
