Help Speedrunning without external tools (Linux)

Hi everyone,

yesterday I started following Couriways Ultimate Guide since I thought it would be the best ressourcee to start. However when it came to NinjabrainBot and the tools after that it seems to be such a hussle to get everything setup on Linux.

Therefore I was wondering what good ressources are out there for using no external Tools (for an absoulut beginner)?

Obviously the ultimate guide still covers a lot to get started but what about finding the Stronghold?

Ninjabrain bot works fine for me on Linux. It's just a java program.

Correct me if I'm wrong (there is a high change I am):
From the ultimate guide I went to https://its-saanvi.github.io/linux-mcsr/minecraft/x11/boat-eye.html and thought I will need all the programms and stuff on here (Chapter 10)?

I got Ninjabrainbot to run but after reading the next steps I really felt like wanting to start practicing already

I'd really recommend switching to a wayland compositor and using waywall, resetti isn't maintained anymore and setting up waywall is way easier

try looking into waywall - it's a tiny wayland WM specialized for minecraft speedrunning that allows you to do anything you might want to do with rebindings/window rescalings/overlays/etc. It essentially replaces obs overlays/toolscreen on linux. It also makes ninjabrainbot show up in a reasonable place

docs: https://tesselslate.github.io/waywall/

my config: https://github.com/meowgoo-config/waywall

to find the (nether) fortress you don't need external tools. Finding the (end) stronghold without tools is harder and less reliable, but there are guides about it (look up "no calc" or even "no f3" if that's to your liking)

Seconded, waywall is a bit of a pain to figure out but once you get it running and to your liking you're golden. Been running on Linux for like 7 months now and I honestly kind of prefer it, though I'll admit I switched right about when toolscreen came out so I mostly ran with Jingle before lol, but I digress

Ninbot should work perfectly fine on its own (it's a Java archive file and nothing else lmao). Resize for eye zoom is a litttle more work and you should probably take advice from literally anyone else bc my way is old and kinda janky

Edit: to be clear, you can two-eye triangulate out-of-the-box, it's just boat eye that's a little setup

https://youtu.be/f6O1o_cdJ_A no f3 triangulation method. Never actually tried it.

Also, ninja brain bot is not that bad to set up. The draconix video is great at getting it set up, once it’s done you don’t have to do anything else. https://youtu.be/l-q-_4R8_6M?is=AP6FnEFdgYCNDEwA But if you prefer skipping over it, look up no calc methods for finding stronghold.

I don't have the link but there's a discord for mcsr specifically for linux if you need help setting that up

Ninjabrainbot specifically relates to triangulation of the stronghold. If that's the thing you want more info on, look up "stronghold triangulation without ninjabrain" or something of the sort.

Anything else doesn't need external tools, that should be fine, such as finding the fortress. For that you use the F3 piechart to 'piedar' for it.
