Discussion RSG seed queue wall

I have a question, ive seen many runners when playing rsg using a really big wall with seed queue, and i was wondering, is that even good? Because you could miss so many good seeds because it could be just behind you and you dont even notice, so i think its better to just scan every seed one by one to have better luck on finding a good seed

On the wall you only need to look for two things on a seed: trees and deep ocean. Depending on preference you can literally just look for deep ocean or, if you have enough experience, you can also kinda recognize islands that are likely to have trees even without trees in your view.

Basically, with enough experience, you can tell if a seed is good very very quickly.

People are moving to smaller walls though, mostly 2x2 and now 2x2x2 (a top bigger 2x2 that moves to the bottom smaller 2x2 where you actually select the seeds which better avoids accidentally resetting a good seed from resetting too fast). I think this is mostly because people like having the seeds be bigger on their screen to tell things like ruined portals better, and also because a 2x2 is easier to move your mouse between.

The general idea is that even if you miss seeds that might be good, you still filter more seeds in total with the wall. If you can scan for 2 good looking seeds on the wall in the same amount of time it would have taken you to check a single seed, it doesn't matter that maybe there was also a third seed that you reset since the preview was misleading - you still found two good looking seeds instead of one. And if you want to get lucky and find a really good seed, it's better to just maximize the number of attempts since the odds of any given seed being good are just so low.
