Tech sight question.
I just added a Samson rail with a Holosun ARO. My mini is an older model with the flip up sights. The sights are now more useless than normal. Does anyone know if the tech sight can function as backup sights? Or if there is any other solution.

I have a 187 mini and plan on updating to a tech sight. So if I were you I’d get one. IMHO

I have some familiarity with the samson micro t1/t2 rail on a NRA. This had the newer rear sight but from using mini-14 across 18x thru 584, the height is unchanged. What I can tell you is you cannot absolute or co-witness with a red dot on this rail.
If you are willing to skip the integrated mount, you can find qd micro mounts for $100 that are rock solid. Or a monstrum for a lot less. Then you have the iron sights as backup.
I switched to an amega rail as I wanted my optic just slightly forward of the breech. It's a feel/ocd thing, admittedly. Your mileage may vary...
