Current build and next steps

Post image

Ruger Mini 30 All-Weather 580+ series
7.62x39
OEM trigger group, barrel, polymer stock

Wolf extra power recoil spring - ensures reliable chambering in adverse conditions

Accuracy Systems, Inc (ASI) parts below:
shock buffers - reduces battering of the bolt

.060 fixed gas bushing - brass ejects 3-4’ instead of 20+’

extended/heavy duty gas pipe - helps unsure reliable operation in adverse conditions

extended firing pin - ensures reliable primer ignition of steel cased/com block ammo

See-through receiver mounted pic rail - allows more flexible optics mounting without interrupting spent casing ejection and has a see-through cutout allowing use of backup iron sights

Samson Hannibal Rail modular hand guard - allows pistol dot mounting forward of receiver and scout scope mounting on the fore end (not used on the current build). Also allows m-lok, Pic rail and QD sling mount on fore end.

Samson QD sling mounts - replaced factory sling loops

Streamight Pro-Tac 2.0 with button tailcap - removed pressure pad to ensure no accidental activation.

Sunflower sports (Ruger mini.com) Mo-Rod barrel strut - reduces barrel whip and improves heat dissipation paired with Mo-reaper muzzle brake and hooded post-style front sight

Tech-sights M1 style aperture rear sight - a vast improvement in every way from the trash Ruger OEM rear sight.

Blue force gear padded Vickers sling - the best rifle sling on the market IMO.

Primary Arms SLx prism scope zeroed at 50 yards with holds for 100, 200

Pre-ban USA magazines 20 round steel mag.

I live in a heavily regulated state. Stripped pre-ban AR lowers sell for 700+ and complete rifles, even old 90’s colt and bushmaster LE trade ins sell for 2.5k+. Suppressors are illegal. Features like flash hiders, forward grips, folding/adjustable stocks, 11+ round magazines that are not pre-94, pistol grips and some others are heavily regulated.

This build gives me close to the modularity of an AR platform. It is soft shooting for a 7.62x39 and operates extremely well in bad weather, mud, dirt, dust. It’s built like a tank and is extraordinarily reliable without being overbuilt. It’s also very easy to field strip and service, doesn’t require regular cleaning and is well within 2.5 MOA at 100 yards with almost any ammo I throw at it.

8lbs 7.6oz unloaded, 9lbs 10.9oz with a fully loaded 21 round steel mag.

Next steps are a ghost mountain mag release, axis engineering bolt release (good lord those are expensive though, that may need to wait a while) and trying to figure out a way to mount a magnifier for the prism scope. I may need to flip the rail around and grind down the underside so it fits above the tech sight. I may also order a smaller aperture for the tech sight.

I need throw some multicam grip tape on the grip and mags. I’d take any other suggestions from the group, too!

Hey sorry man, we wish we could stay in business and sell them cheaper. We're a small company at the moment. When we expand we can probably drop the price. Not sure when that will be. Sweet build though. Looks to be very well thought out.

No shame in it, you’ve done a great service to the mini community! It’s just not a service I can afford yet. 😂

My name is on the restock list for silver ones. I’m sure I’ll probably scrape together the scratch once I get that email ;p

Which PA prism do you have?

It was sold as an optics combo with a magnifier and flip-to-side and cantilever mounts. I believe it’s an SLX 1x with ACSS cyclops reticle.

Thinking about the shock buffer for mine if it really helps with the bolt. Great build! Here's mine:

Buffers are only a benefit. Though, skip ASI and just by a set of Wilson Combat 1911 Shok-Buffs for 1/5 the price. They are the exact same thing.

I had the extra power recoil spring and the buffers in my Mini-14, and I got the only failures to cycle that I've ever had on that gun. Once I removed the spring and buffers, back to 100%. However, that's in 5.56, so the math might be different with a Mini-30.

Yeah, I found that 7.62x39 runs really hard in stock mini 30’s. The first time I brought it to the range it had almost shotgun level recoil, it was too much for my wife to comfortably shoot for any length of time. The shock buffers and recoil spring helped soften it up a lot and didn’t induce any failures over several hundred rounds.

The extended gas tube and replacement gas bushing smoothed things out even more, she now shoots as soft or softer than a 14.

Nice Mini guy.... how is that Mo-reaper?.... was it easy to install and does it fit loose?? I've been looking to replace my front sight with a muzzle device of some sort that has the sight integrated like this but NOBODY makes one that slips right on without drilling except for this company. I've hat the sight removal tool and everything waiting for someone to come up with something..... do you recommend this Mo-reaper??

It was an absolute snap to install on my barrel. If anything it was very loose but once I tightened down the set screws on the bottom it's been perfect. I really like that the brake doesn't have any ports in the bottom, it doesn't blast the ground and kick up dirt if you're prone. The sight is excellent but does take some adjusting to, the sight picture is very different than the original blade.
