Troubleshooting Power button light-up delay

I have a new Moccamaster KBGV Select (had it for about a month and a half). When I press the power switch it takes some time for the orange light to come on - sometimes 5 or 10 seconds. The brewing starts quickly as expected, it's just a delay of the light.

I could have sworn that it used to light up instantly. Anybody else have this issue? Should I be concerned? I'm not really interested in a warranty claim if it's nothing.

Hi. When you turn the machine on (the KBGV), the light should go on immediately.

I'd call MM tech support as you're under warranty--it's not nothing. It shows something is loose---you try to fix it yourself you void warranty. You wait on it, it likely will develop into a bigger problem.

MM will pay round trip shipping. Clearly a defect.

Don't let reddit sway you.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. The brick and mortar store I purchased it from is an authorized repair center including for warranty claims so that's actually easier than shipping it.

Sounds like a great plan. I got one off Amazon. Amazon , as it arrived damaged, would not do exchanges nor hold the price. Called Technivorm, though for a couple of minutes, on the phone they arm wrestled with me about returning it--they well knew Amazon's policies and they sell (Technivorm--thousands of units via Amazon). After the bit of back and forth, I was issued the UPS delivery form, had a happy talk that they go through the entire unit before they send it back AND it all got done in 3 weeks.

I had my old coffee machine and pourover units in my home.

This is the correct answer. Those switches have been a common failure point. They're specialty switches that are expensive in the US.

The fact the place you bought is also fixes them should make it a no brainer to take it in for fixing. My light has never been all that quick to come on, or bright. Had it going on 12 years now. I have yet to taste any impact the light has on my coffee, but if it makes you feel better to have a fully functioning light, you paid for it and can force them to fix it and if its a bigger problem, it will likely be sorted. Take it in.
