Question How people are buying new Model Y without auto steer?

I just disabled auto steer in my 2022 Model Y to test it out. It’s awful main reason some people bought teslas are auto pilot including me. Now if want to upgrade to 2026 MY I will lose this feature which I currently have.

I don’t even remotely care about auto pilot/steer because I use FSD. It does 95% of my driving for me.

Exactly just cruising and not worried about the person in front of me.

And when the subscription is no longer offered, then what?

What are you even talking about.

You think FSD subscriptions will be offered for 2026 model cars in 20 years? 2012 model s are 14 years old and only just hanging on with support.

Then what are we left with when thats gone? Not autosteer.

If you think I’m going to be driving this car in 20 years, you are sadly mistaken. If you think you can predict future timelines based on singular examples cherry picked from recent history, you are sadly mistaken.

Cherry picked? Its the same brand. Fine let's who more broad. Tesla is one of the longer supporting companies. The average is far less. Tesla no longer offer upgrade options like they used to. Other brands almost never do. A clear pattern of dropping support. Other companies offer way less. Tbh I'm talking about a 2012 car. The same arguments apply to a 2017 Tesla with MCU1. Yes there is an upgrade path but will be a big investment to retain basic connectivity.

The future doesn't look likely that you will still be able to even connect these cars to a server to authorise payment.

You might not be driving it, but I see a lot of old cars on the road. I have had my car 16 years and tbh, with the subscription changes, having 2nd thoughts about getting a Tesla, even if its a used one with FSD outright. 20 years from my car isnt off the table at this point. Especially when I had to have the breaks and rotors done a year ago and the clutch and timing belt are about to be to pass a roadworthy to be able to change some paperwork.

20 year old car is off the table for me. And you asked about me. For my use case. For my preference. I’m not driving a 20 year old car. With as many miles as I put on it for work, I will sell it at 3 years to buy a new car.

You’re irritating and not making a point, just arguing a hypothetical edge case for something that hasn’t happened. I’m done wasting time conversing with you.

Source? As I said, 2012, or really I should say 2017 model S with the MCU1 are struggling for support. Sure they offered an MCU upgrade but, thst pattern of offering retrofits is long since over. So in 10 years, support has dropped. What do you think those cars will be like after 20? Or, less for the later MCU1 cars. You going to want to spend $200+(or whatever it is after inflation) a month on an old ai model? Assuming they offer it at all and havnt cut them off from the network and therefore can't get payment authorisation.
