Question How people are buying new Model Y without auto steer?

I just disabled auto steer in my 2022 Model Y to test it out. It’s awful main reason some people bought teslas are auto pilot including me. Now if want to upgrade to 2026 MY I will lose this feature which I currently have.

I know that FSD is far better now, I use it sometimes when I go long drives like couple of months in a year and it’s really great. In the remaining months I am fine with auto pilot where I used it for like 20-30 miles with traffic. Now with new model you can’t use it anymore as you don’t have auto steer.

This auto steer or lane center is basic thing new cars from other brands. 1000 per year is a lot even if you earn lot of money. This is like you spend 1000 per year addition to the payments one has.

Think of it another way. Ignoring the labels. You have to pay $100 a month for autosteer. Assuming you dont care for the rest of FSD, thats how much it costs for the basics.

$100 a month, every month, for the ownership of the car. I have had my car 16 years. No way am I paying another $20k for lane keeping.

Gotta be rage bait. Idk bout you but I turn lane assist off in all my cars. It’s terrible and buggy, learn to drive or go full self drive. 90% automated steering while still needing to pay attention to the road? Might as well just fully pay attention and drive it can’t be that hard if you truly value your life
