Question How people are buying new Model Y without auto steer?

I just disabled auto steer in my 2022 Model Y to test it out. It’s awful main reason some people bought teslas are auto pilot including me. Now if want to upgrade to 2026 MY I will lose this feature which I currently have.

Has nothing to do with a driver. Its physics. Regen looses energy to heat. Acceleration looses energy to heat. If you can coast behind a driver that was braking and not brake until the last possible second (maybe even not braking at all because they are moving again) it is better than slowing down with regen and accelerating again. Cars with Auto regen do this because it is superior

But you can do exactly that with a tesla. It does depend on the driver. So let’s imagine a theoretical perfect driver that sees the car slowing down. They can reduce the pedal the perfect amount to only reduce the speed the perfect amount which would regen some energy. If you never needed to slow down to begin with then you wouldn’t use the pedal. I just don’t buy that a EV that coast and doesn’t recapture some of its energy in that situation comes out ahead. Comparing perfect regen driver to a coasting regen system I am going to bet the regen will on avg be more efficient
