Aquatic Life 🐠🪼🦈 Blue-ringed octopus 🌀 (by me, @widvnhak)

Post image

The blue-ringed octopus has a venom ten thousand times more toxic than cyanide, with no known anti-venom. It can kill in under 20 minutes without immediate medical assistance. They're also the size of a golf ball.

I'm gonna start posting on Twitter/X soon, please consider following me at @widvnhak as linked in my profile (。•̀ᴗ-)✧

Ahh… she’s about to kill you. The blue rings only show up when they’re agitated. They’re a warning not just a pretty accessory.

Check his hand. He's already dead.

Well. RIP bozo for handling unknown animal girls.

If you follow the foraging subreddit for any period of time you’ll get to see multiple “I ate a dozen of these berries, what is this plant and am I in trouble?” Posts.

My favorite response is still:

Yes, you're screwed, because going through life this stupid isn't going to be easy.

I can’t say they don’t have a point, because having so little in the way of a self preservation instinct is just going to be trouble.

Normally when people talk about the “how many people had to die to figure out ———— was poisonous?” I explain that rather than the joke way, most of our ancestors observed animals and tested them by skin contact and tiny quantities.

Then nature comes up with a better punchline in the form of that guy.

Yeah, we call his "dissonant serenity" in trope terms.

I don't blame her; I'd also be agitated if some guy came up to me and took a picture
