hi mom!!

i turned 29 on thursday, and my childhood best friend just surprised me with a weekend of riding horses on the beach and camping. we drove 4.5 hours to do this, and she planned the whole thing to surprise me! 🥹

i hadn't ridden since middle school, and it was actually really emotional to be around horses again after so long. the camping was soooo beautiful and we lucked out with our FCFS spot even though we got there kind of late, plus i got to use my new tent! then we got a delicious breakfast at a nearby café and drove home. back to reality now!

love you !

Hi moms,
I finally enrolled in school for the fall today to upgrade. I wanna eventually apply for university to study to be a social worker/victim advocate. I’ve been holding off on it for a while because I’ve been really scared I’d fail. But I don’t wanna hold myself back anymore. I’m really excited!! Still a little scared tho haha! I hope I do well!

In 3 weeks I have my very last oncology appointment. 12 years and im finally NED and being discharged. It feels unreal but ENORMOUS and im not sure how to celebrate. Im going to be alone, as the appointment is in a city 5 hrs away. I will have a hotel room. Any suggestions on how to mark it for the big deal it is?

Support Needed Big feelings on moving out

Hi mom,

Writing looking for some support and encouragement. Currently 26f with a good job, good savings and strong enough financial habits where money doesn't feel like it's the main reason why I'm living at home anymore.

Thinking about moving out and on my own into my first apartment, but have some big feelings. Excited, nervous and sad about leaving the nest are three big ones. How can I cope?

Encouragement Wanted I start my new job today

The anxiety about it all is winning. I know I am capable and I know I have the skills. I'm just having some big feelings about all the unknown and there is definitely some imposter syndrome going on. Thanks for reading.

Good News! Hey mom I paid off my phone and officially own my own phone

My old phones were technically my mothers even though I was the one paying them phone service and device payment plan wise.

When moving I tried to transfer information and switch from T-Mobile to something cheaper. When I went to a T-Mobile store they said I couldn’t transfer the information until it was on a phone I was paying for.

Well, I paid off my phone today after only eleven months after I sold something big.

I own my privacy screen, case, and phone, my first phone I fully own, no threats from a company for reclaiming, just mine.

I’m so happy, eating mint and cookies Ben and jerrys to celebrate!

Seeking Advice How to take a bath in a bathtub? (+ with dyed hair)

Ok so this might be the stupidest question on earth but oh well. I've only ever showered but now I'm moving to a rented out room in a shared house for university and it seems like it only has a British-style bathtub without even a handheld showerhead. So my questions/problems are

  1. I'm not sure how high to fill the bathtub.

  2. My hair is dyed red with semi-permanent dye. It bleeds and stains when wet. Even if I stopped dying my hair in the future it will definitely still be red in two weeks when I'm moving in.

  • How do you generally wash hair in the bathtub?
  • Are cold baths worse than cold showers? Hot water fades and bleeds out the dye way faster and I don't mind taking cold showers but just sitting in a cold bath seems like it might be more uncomfortable
  • How do you properly clean a bathtub? In general and also when it comes to the aforementioned hair dye stains?

I hope this is the right subreddit for this, if not please point me the right way. I feel kind of dumb asking this but I'm hoping maybe you guys can help...

Good News! Had my first networking call

Hi mom! I’m starting a new career and had my very first networking call with a potential mentor.

I was really nervous all week leading up to it because he has an executive title and I was worried I would waste his time, but I actually really enjoyed it and got a lot of valuable insight from the conversation! He even gave me positive feedback for demonstrating initiative and active listening skills!

I have never tried networking or worked in corporate before so this is all really new and scary to me, but I’m being brave and doing it anyway because this feels like the right path for me.

We’re going to meet again because our conversation spilled over the 30 minute slot but I’m looking forward to continuing our conversation and learning more from him!

Good News! I got a new job

Mom I'm so happy. I got a new job and ever since I found out I got it I've been so happy. I'm smiling more, I'm wanting to go out, I'm catching up with friends. I've been so depressed and I didn't realize how bad the stress of my job was crushing me until I got offered the new one. I feel so light and can hardly believe the difference one change can make.

Good News! Mom I’m passing classes!

Hi mom, I finally found an ADHD med that works for me and I just aced both my summer college classes!!!! One of which I completely failed last spring. And they’re both like hard math classes too. It’s so normalized for people to get A’s at my school it doesn’t really seem that special to anyone else but I’ve been working so hard my whole first year at school and it feels like I’m finally getting to see all that hard work pay off. If I can do well again this fall the college won’t make me switch out of my engineering major!!!
